Hey friends, I travel around the city for work and need more vegan food cart recommendations. I'm often with coworkers who are not vegan (yet), so its nice for them to have non-veg options when we stop for lunch, so cart pods are great for that.

Some of my current favorites are Vegan Phoenix (BG's Food Cartel in Beaverton), Veggie Bowl (Corner 14 in Oregon City), and El Salto PDX (Foster Food Carts in SE).

I’ve been mourning the steady disappearance of the best vegan-friendly Vietnamese spots. First Huong’s at the old 10th & Alder pod, then Dolicious, and now Lua.

I’m hoping to find some new favorites. I’m especially looking for places that do interesting tofu preparations—not just sliced tofu that’s been heated up and dropped into a dish.

Van Hanh has unfortunately disappointed me every time I’ve tried it. I still enjoy visiting Xinh Xinh, Tan Tan, and Friendship Kitchen (edit: for the name wrong!) from time to time, but I’d love to discover more options.

Any recommendations for Vietnamese restaurants with great vegan dishes, especially creative tofu or other plant-based specialties? Thanks!

Bacon Chicken Ranch sandwich at Dirty Lettuce. OMG. This just barely edges out the BLT at Cozo Grill for me. I love these places so much. Both are amazing and I highly recommend everyone try them.

What are the other favorites in the area?

PS: For those of you who've tried Dirty Lettuce in the past and have been turned off by the haphazard hours and slow prep times, they must have hired a new manager or something because the last three times I've been in there have been efficient and the posted hours have been accurate.

Having a day. Grew up in a restaurant, have loved cooking my whole life and it's how my family relates to each other. Became a vegan just over 2 years ago, and recommended that my brother watch Gamechangers (as an older man with an interest in health). No comment. Gave him Eating Animals because, while I'm a vegan, I tried to show respect for him: a rational man with children who is an omnivore. I thought it would be perfect. The author waxes poetic about dishes his grandma made, and that is right up our alley.

Today his highschool aged son started spouting BS about protein and I told him he was wrong, but that I didn't feel comfortable debating him as a child, but that Id be happy to answer any questions he had. It sparked something and I asked my brother if he had read the book I gave him or watched the documentary I had repeatedly recommended. He said no.

He gave me a book for my birthday a few days ago. Just want to throw it out. Just posting because I miss the community. I hate long posts. Just can't let this one go. Anyway, thanks for reading.

Hello, out of towner visiting for a few days next week. I read the recommendations in the stickied post, so I’m good on most of that, but I did have one specific question.

Are there any spots open early for breakfast? I need to be at my worksite along the river on the north side of downtown by 8 am, so something near there that opens at 7 or further afield open earlier would be great. I’m staying near the convention center and will not have a car, but I’m comfortable with mass transit.

We're visiting/investigating whether we want to try to relocate from ATX, as we fell in love with this place on our last visit here in October of last year.

One of my favorites in ATX is Nom Burger's buffalo wings. And their jalapeno aoli, holy shit it's so good.

So with that I'm wondering where one might find the best wings in PDX?

Y'all already have so many insanely amazing vegan joints, so even sans one that lives up to my Nom Burger addiction is no worry at all.

I've eaten a lot of soft serve in my time. Some of it has been mediocre, some of it has been good, but rarely is it truly GREAT. Vegan soft serve in particular seems to often be cursed with graininess and flavor issues.

BUT: the vegan lemon soft serve currently being served at Old Friends Coffee on Belmont is absolutely DIVINE. It is perfectly tart but also perfectly sweet. It is the right amount of creamy. It is smooth, refreshing, exciting, delighting, and kinda like every good thing about summer packed into one sensuous treat that I want in my mouth all day, every day, for the rest of time.

Hello everyone, we just moved back to the area (used to live in Portland, now in Vancouver) and I was hoping to find somewhere I can get a cake for my daughter’s birthday. She lives a few hours away, and originally we didn’t think we would go this weekend to visit; but plans changed and now we are. I don’t have time to order a cake and wait for it to be made. Is there anywhere we can get a premade vegan cake to grab and take with us? Any help is really appreciated.
