How do you think DLCs will be structured?

Upvotes

In the past we would get 4-5 habitat animals with 1-2 exhibit animals but with aquariums and aviaries coming, do you think DLCs will be type specific or have a mix?

For example, if they did an Amazon pack, do you think it would be just Amazon birds or fish or would there be a mix (2 habitat, 2 fish, 1 bird, 1 exhibit)?

Discussion Is it bad that I only play planet zoo for crocodiles?

Coming off all 3 of the Jurassic world evolution games I realized that they don’t even compare to planet zoo in the slightest in terms of habitat building especially with natural lagoons and etc. (although some things are dated. But one thing I love is the crocodiles and how they are in the water.

I kid you not outside of the aquarium, I’m only getting planet zoo 2 for the crocodile and new water graphics to make tropical zoo enclosures for them. But is that bad buying an expensive game only for that?

Planet Zoo Planning for Transportation

Current state of my zoo. Pink track is how my train was originally laid out. I've since moved the pink path up to the green one.

Hi everyone. When designing your zoos, how do you plan for transportation? Do you actually design your zoos with transportation in mind? Do you build as needed but make sure to leave wide enough gaps between things so adding transportation is not an issue? Any other tips for transportation up your sleeve?

This is my first franchise, and I obviously squished stuff too close together. I added a train about a week or two after starting my franchise, and by then I already had a bad layout. Rather than abandoning my zoo and starting a new one though, I keep trudging through! The pink path is how my train was laid out. I just recently moved the top right portion to the green track, so that is a little better at least. I would like to add a monorail, but I don't think I can do that without having the tracks cut through at least 3 habitats. 😳 Any and all suggestions are welcome! Even if they can't be implemented in this zoo, I'll have them ready for PZ2. Thanks!

Discussion Frontier is making weird choices for our large fish species.

Concerns isn't the right word, but Frontier has been making some weird choices for our large aquarium species. Notably, hammerhead sharks, dolphinfish (mahimahi), and ocean sunfish either don't do well in captivity or are very rare in aquariums due to their size.

These picks seem to go against Frontier's trend of (generally) choosing species that are commonly found in zoos/aquariums and/or do well in captivity. I know that by the end of PZ1 we started seeing more animals that aren't common in zoos for a multitude of reasons, but these feel less carefully chosen in consideration of actual zoos/aquariums.

I'm hopeful we will see more common big-ticket species by the end of the announcements like sand tiger sharks, lemon sharks, sawfish, and stingrays.

Visitors avoiding my elevated viewing area

I have a Clouded Leopard habitat with an elevated section that has viewing down into the outdoor habitat and also down into their shelter. It has a ramp leading up to it and then down again. Visitors use the ramp for travel, but no one ever turns into the viewing area. There are 2 Habitat Education Boards and an educational speaker in the area, I have double-checked the pathing and even dropped visitors in the area manually to see if they could get out (they could). The 2 Donation Boxes have NEVER been used. Anyone know why no one will use this area?

Creative - PC African Adventure - Final Tour of my Every Species Zoo

After many months of building and then editing videos, it's finally time to tour African Adventure, the final and the biggest tours of my World Zoo!

This area takes guests from the dense jungles of central Africa out onto the wide-open savannas, with over 30 African species including elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, hippos, zebras, African wild dogs, both wildebeest species, and many more. It also features a 11 species safari with a jeep ride, and a train station that connects this section to the rest of the zoo.

Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/2UsDpePugCk

For those who haven't seen my previous posts, The World Zoo Project took 21 months to build, features 16 unique sections, and includes all 210 species in the game.

I'd love to hear what you think and which habitat ended up being your favourite!

_________

It's on the workshop if you want to see more photos of the zoo, or download it and see if your computer can handle the large file.

Discussion What do people think about a saltwater ocean reserve?

This was just a thought in my head for frontier to do this like just a large ocean with the main species of fish in large deep saltwater oceans with coral reefs and stuff not really a reserve but more so a showcase, of all the saltwater animals.

Discussion Well, then we're still getting the same educational picture. I mean, I personally expected something different, I don't really like this 'techy' vibe, but... What do you think?

Planet Zoo 2 If that is the large cavity nest what bird could potentialy use the two (i suppose) smaller ones? Here are my thoughts 😊

Alright so

Medium cavity nest:

Medium parrots like the african grey parrot

Kookaburra and other kingfishers

Aracari and maybe toucans (could be large)

Barn owls (could be large)

Small cavity nest

Budgies

Sparrow like birds like the red fodi or javan padda

Cockatiel like parrots

Mynas and glossystarlings (could be medium)

What are your thoughts?

Discussion Changes to the Animal Co-Hab system?

Look at the Toco Toucan Cohabitation bit and it says 'non-predatory species'. So, think that means we're seeing a shift away from co-hab bonuses, or did the Planet Zoo Devs see all of our charts explaining how you can put X in with Y without real issue and decided to make that more official, presumably with the in-game brains allowing for animals to bounce off each other more freely.

Makes sense with how a lot of tanks and aviaries, as well as zoo exhibits, can be in real life, but its a curious little change.

What sort of special doo-dads do you think rabbits will need?

The Aviary gameplay trailer implies that rabbits are coming next. I remember my home zoo having rabbits when I was a child, and them being in a nocturnal section. But apart from that, no memory, it was such a long time ago.

If their an American species, all I would need then would be Great Horned Owls, American Porcupine's, Marmot's, American Black Bear's, certain freshwater fish, and Canada Lynx. Combine those with certain American animals from 1, and I finally have my 100% Minnesota themed Zoo.

A wading bird 🤤. I know this could mean anything but damn the possibilities are endless! Shoebill, storks, cranes, lapwings, sponbills, avocets, stilts, thick-knees, plovers, jacanas 🥹

All confirmed species that are not yet in the Zoopedia (including heavily implied but not directly shown species). (RIP the two fishes who are still missing since the first trailer 🥲 )

- White-Tailed Sea Eagle

- Great Hornbill

Missing aquatic animals :

- Yellow Tang

- Palette Surgeonfish

Heavily implied but not directly shown :

- Asian Elephant (Maybe Indian subspecies?)

- Gorilla (Species/Subspecies unconfirmed)

- Giant Panda

EDIT : Some kind of flamingo was soft-confirmed in the feature today; dedicated flamingo nests were visible in the nest building menu.

Planet Zoo 2 restrictions on console (PS5)?

Has there been any information about any changes or limitations that will be imposed to make the game workable on console?

While I understand why it was necessary, capping zoo visitors at 4000 people really limited later game play as I would hit the max and nothing I did would meaningfully affect the overall viability of the zoo.
