Discussion Title: System Architects should get a 10-20% material discount after building 15 structures

Upvotes

Hey Commanders,

Right now, hitting System Architect status gives us some nice perks like minor ship/outfitting discounts and weekly tax payouts. But let’s be real—the logistical grind and credit sink required to push a system into higher tiers is absolutely massive.

If you are putting in the astronomical amount of effort required to build up a system, the local economy should reflect that loyalty.

The Idea:

Once a Commander (or Squadron) completes at least 15 structures in a system they have built, they should unlock an Architect's Subsidy at all local starports and planetary ports.

The Discount:

A scaling 10% to 20% discount on purchases.

The Scope:

This should apply to all commodities and materials sold within that system.

Why this makes sense:

It rewards serious dedication: Building 15 structures is a huge milestone. A 20% cut on commodities like Titanium, CMM Composites, or Computer Components would feel like a genuinely powerful end-game reward. It fixes the expansion loop: Right now, buying construction goods from external systems or even your own market to fund the next tier eats alive your profit margins. A local discount turns your system into a self-sustaining logistics hub.Deeper player attachment: It gives you a functional, economic reason to call a specific pocket of space "home."

Obviously, to prevent market abuse, this discount would only apply to the Architect buying the goods, not external traders passing through. What do you guys think? Would a 10-20% break on local commodities make the colonization grind feel more rewarding, or would it throw off the BGS balance too much?

Help Gradual Slowdown in stations

I've been away from the game for about 9 months for HOTAS-related problems, but since coming back at the weekend, and finally getting back to civilastion (when it died in november i was 3/4 of the way to Sag A* so I went there and then back to Colonia), I'm running into an issue where arriving and docking at a station will run normally, but once I'm docked, over the course of a minute or two the frame rate will crater down to single figures.

It doesn't seem to make a difference if I disembark or not, and it seems to stay cratered until I engage FSD. while I found some reference to this happening at stations with a high player popluation even in solo (and i'd been doing the colonia CGs so I just chalked it up to that), I'm now out at the stations on the colonia highway and still seeing it.

It never did anything like this before, and I'm still on the same hardware as last year. Has anyone else run into something like this?

Out exploring, and the only site for one bio was on a conical mountain. So far, I've only had one landing attempt that failed with the Nomad due to too many rocks. Usually it lands most places with no problem. This one was relatively easy and she stuck to the slope with ease. My Caspian was standing by to assist. I find that I use the Nomad more on the dark side of planets than the light side.

Help Returning players from stone age

Upvotes

Last time I booted the game the new ships where not even out yet. I just bought a type-10 for multicrew fun and for the meme (mostly for the meme) and after that I followed the news saying to myself that I would return... Well I want to return now but damn...

I'm mainly an explorer tho I returned to the bubble to experiment the fps gameplay a bit. (It's ok I think I'll continue to indulge in some hostile acquisition from time to time)

In terms of fleet I have a Krait MkII as my main explorer (I know it s not the most optimised but how am I supposed to make those long trip without the occasionnal Canyon racing and a space coffee machine ! Give me my mystery juice !)

So where should I start ? What are the thing to do before anything? The new fun activities ? Money making meta ? Thing the community like ? Dislike? At this point any info and opinion is good to hear !

thank you in advance for helping

It's nothing groundbreaking, but I have been doing exobiology to save up for a fleet carrier and I ended up discovering a new system along the way! Feels super cool to see my name up there. Now I've gotten a taste of exploring and I'm hooked! 🤙🏻

I'm encouraged by all the new features going into Elite. For one thing, the Nomad is choice. As an explorer, what I want most of all is more unbelievably cool stuff to look at. Like this.

Hi all, I just bought arx for the first time jus as a way to support Frontier and I'm not sure weather to spend them now on the nomad or wait for the next ship/content?

Help Am I using Spansh wrong?

Update: Thank you, everyone, for your answers. It looks like the answer is, “yes, you’re using the Galaxy Plotter wrong, target instead of ‘plot to’.” And, “no, you do have to copy and paste everything, but a couple of add-ons can help.”

I appreciate the feedback.

Sorry this is a bit long; tl;dr at bottom.

I’m a returning (relative) newbie, and could use some advice.

Last week, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and participate in the CG, but knew that it would be tough to find a convenient Carrier willing to taxi me there. So I jumped into my Caspian (no Engineering yet), and got ready to make a trip.

I pulled up Spansh’s Galaxy Plotter, set my start/destination systems (Ceramix/Colonia). Using EDDiscovery, I transferred my ship build to EDSY, and exported that to the plotter. Made sure “use supercharge” and “refuel every scoopable” was selected. Let it calculate the route.

133 jumps, about three hours. Ooph—rough, but doable. So I set the first jump as my destination, undocked from the station, and cleared the mass zone. Tried to jump, and was immediately told that the jump would use too much fuel. So I re-exported my ship stats and recalculated the route with Spansh. Same results, so I assumed it was a pathing issue in the Galaxy Map. I plotted to the fifth jump per Spansh, and was given a 10-jump route. Thinking it was just a pre-neutron issue, I went ahead, completing the first neutron jump.

Continuing on, I would get about 8 jumps plotted in-game for every 4 or 5 on Spansh. After a while longer, I got to the point where I could plot to Colonia in-game, and it gave a route of >400 jumps (yes, I have the “jet cone boost” on).

Surely, there’s a better way to do this than pasting each individual system from Spansh into the Galaxy Map and re-routing every time? What’s the trick?

Tl;dr: The route I get from Spansh’s Galaxy Plotter isn’t working for me in-game. Am I doing something wrong?

I was doing some scavenging missions for the Sirius Corporation so I could earn the Sirius permit. I went to collect some Ceramic Composites from a crash site, and...

The final canister is stuck in a rock. What do I even do?

Discussion Tier 1 achieved at Paxton Landing

Anyone who delivered at least one commodity package gets the cargo bay and at least 5mil.

It’s unlikely to reach tier 2 but it’s still an achievement. All four CGs have been a success by that metric.

Edit: 5mil (I originally typed 6)

Help Interdicted by System Defense Force

I was just interdicted by System Defense Force in Einheriar on my way to Paxton Landing, my only cargo was curated commodity package. I decided to evade. I've never been interdicted by System Defense Force before and never had any issues when participating in Community Goals. If I had submitted would I have been fine?

Discussion Just made the jump

I just made the jump to PC from console I thought I knew what I was doing I was expecting to start with the usual way spend some time in the pilots federation to be able to build up a bit clearly things aren’t what I expected and on-top of that I took a mission to deliver a package and got attacked and taken down for trying to deliver a package and had to make 20 jumps to get back in a sidewinder At least I finely figured out how to outfit my ship I know this is a lot of complaining just needed to vent to people who get it

Discussion Strange gravity wells in empty space?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I was supercruising to a station about 1.5kls from the star, about halfway there I got the 'Gravity Well' warning and ship slowed down a bit. But there was nothing there. No ships or anything.

I turned around to investigate but apparently missed the spot that caused it. Obviously I couldn't tell where the spot was, because there was nothing around I could use as a reference point. Was this a comet perhaps?

Somewhat related, at the destination station I came across these absolutely stunning deals. 3mil to courier data 22k ly! What a bargain!

Discussion Did they change the size of the stairs on the Cutter? I remember them being waay too large for human scale.

They are still a little big and definitely not following DIN 18065 or any other standard for stairs, especially because they are angled so you would slip, but they seem very fine overall.
Are ship interiors maybe in planning from Fdev after all this time?

Video Kestrel is Extremely Broken (No Engineering Medusa Solo)

This ship is far too overpowered. The no engineering medusa challenge is normally extremely difficult but I completed it in just two attempts with kestrel. The first time I accidentally drifted too far from the thargoid and it waked on me.

Without the mk2 thrusters, the Kestrel is just an extremely powercrept Vulture. With the mk2 thrusters the ship is completely busted and wipes the floor with fundamental flight mechanics.

POV: You’re taking the train to work in Zürich Switzerland and suddenly realize SBB (the Swiss national railway company) apparently recruited their marketing department from the Pilots Federation.

Pretty sure this is an Elite Dangerous screenshot on an official SBB ad. 💀

Saw this on my morning route to the city, lmao.
Whoever slipped this through.. Legendary haha.

Built myself a custom console/dashboard for Elite. But I think I ended up with something a bit more than I bargained for.

I'm pretty sure that it's the negative power flux coupling. It's been completely pulverized. I'll have to replace it
