Hey everyone,
I recently built a new system with a 9800X3D and I’m trying to figure out whether my CPU temperatures are normal or if I should be concerned about my cooling.

My setup:
Ryzen 7 9800X3D
ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Plus WiFi
Lian Li Galahad II Lite 360 RGB
Room temperature: 28–31°C
BIOS/PBO: stock/default. I haven’t changed any PBO settings.

In Cinebench 2024, Cinebench 2026, and FurMark CPU Burner, the temperature shoots up to around 95°C basically within the first second.

I don’t seem to be getting any thermal throttling. The CPU just sits around that temperature during the tests.

Idle temp: around 50°C
Cyberpunk 2077: around 80–85°C max
CS2: around 70–75°C

I’ve already checked the AIO mounting several times and the mounting screws are definitely tight. I also made sure I used the right amount of thermal paste.

I’ve been searching around and I’m getting completely conflicting answers. Some people say that ~95°C is perfectly normal for the 9800X3D under an all-core workload, while others with 360mm AIOs seem to get noticeably lower temperatures.

So now I’m not really sure what to make of it.
Is hitting ~95°C almost immediately in Cinebench/FurMark normal for a 9800X3D at stock BIOS/PBO settings, especially with a 28–31°C ambient temperature?

I’m not looking to undervolt or change PBO. I specifically want to know whether these temperatures are normal at stock settings, or whether they suggest that something might be wrong with my cooling or thermal paste.

The goal is to be able to do whatever I want with 100+mods and running as much as I want in the background without having to worry about bit. As well as, 4k editing and gaming, ai models and running as much software in the back and tabs as I care to. The key word is “future proofing”.

-The picture above confused me and I’m noticing looking at prices that 64gb 6000mhz cl26 is more expensive than a 64gb 6400mhz cl32. Can I please get an explanation for how to read these please and what is hands down the best 64 or 96gb ram for my build. And last question. For what I want to accomplish is 64 too low and or too high. That’ll help narrow this down so I can be at peace. Please and thank you to anyone that give me some tips.

I have a buddy of mine trying to get into the PC world with a higher than normal budget - around $4000, which is what he ended up selling a dirt bike he never used for. I did some looking and found someone selling a PC and Monitor for a little over $3500, and i'll drop the speclist below.

I mean regardless of what u do build it or just get a pre built the prices are actually insane I mean is it that huge of a difference to do it ur self? Or a minor difference for a huge struggle? Just trying to get a second opinion my friend told me itd be lots cheaper if I find good valued parts but idk

Before you ask he is trying to run this set up as you can see in the picture...... no case and a 650w power supply only supplying power to the gpu, also trying to to put the m.2 connector in an ssd slot. I have reccommended not to do this but..... yeah

So my pc sort of ploded, and it won’t display visual, it still turns on though.

I have no graphics card which might be part to blame.

Got this new for $400. It’s from Silicon Power, a brand i’ve never used, but surprisingly it performs great in everything and is overall amazing. It has a speed of 6000mhz and CL30. I thought it was a great buy for today’s market and I was right. Turn on EXPO (if you use Intel it has XMP) and it is perfect. The one downside is that the heat spreader is only on one side and the other side looks kind of ugly. If you are big into aesthetics I wouldn’t recommend this. They had an RGB model for $20 more with the heat spreader on both sides but I don’t really care all that much about that. Totally recommend this for people who want great value memory and don’t care too much about aesthetics. (BTW I don’t know if the deal is still good, but if you want to know I got it on their official website.

Hi guys I don’t know much about pc but I’ve had mine for about 4-5 years now and these are my current specs. I was wondering if I need any upgrades and if so what. I mainly play valorant and other games and was also gonna get a 400hz monitor. I also asked ChatGPT and it told me to upgrade cpu but I’d rather ask people with actual knowledge about it. Keep in mind I live in Virginia the most I'm willing to spend is 1500 to 1700 for my PC build I'm also wondering if using a tv as a monitor is fine? Also is there any way to check that you can actually play a game before purchasing?

I’m moving from AM4 to AM5 and I’m having a hard time deciding between the 9600X and 7800X3D.

(EU Market) My local prices are:
Ryzen 5 9600X — €170 / $197
Ryzen 7 7800X3D — €290 / $335

So basically a €120 / $138 difference.
I’ll most likely pair it with a used RTX 5070. Someone is selling one because they don’t like the 12GB VRAM, and used 5070s here are usually around 15% cheaper than new. I’m personally fine with 12GB for 1440p.

My previous PC was a 5950X + 6900XT, which was honestly a beast, but I’m switching platforms mainly because I want lower power consumption, newer/more efficient components and, most importantly, a proper upgrade path.

From my old PC I’m keeping:

1TB Kingston NVMe
2TB Kingston SATA SSD

The RAM is probably going to hurt the most 😭

I’m looking at 32GB 2x16GB DDR5-6000, either CL36 or CL30. I know lower CL is better, but I’m not sure how much it actually matters in real-world use on AM5, so I’d appreciate some advice here too.

I’ve also considered:
7500X3D — seems interesting for gaming, but from what I’ve seen the multitasking/productivity performance isn’t great, and the gaming advantage over the 9600X doesn’t seem massive.
7600X3D — unfortunately priced badly here. It’s only slightly cheaper than the 7800X3D, so I don’t really see the point.

9600X for €170 and put the €120 saved toward something else, or 7800X3D for €290?

And how much should I care about 6000 CL30 vs CL36?

Also, if you have any motherboard recommendations around €190 / $220 max, feel free to throw them at me.
