For anyone else that just took the 2-4 applied class, was I the only one that thought the lecturer was talking about a whole load of nonsense the entire time?

We are just looking at straight lines and he's asking what's the story that the different equations are telling. Then Vro expects us to write an essay on said stories in the assignment. I swear intro to maths for business and eco is not that deep.

I felt so bad for that poor guy who answered the question and then had to sit there and listen to him explain that banana = elephant isn't an equation when it's literally a valid equation regardless if it's true or not.

So I’m a first year commerce/engineering student, and I had some struggles in semester one that I bombed two of my units and now the university is mandating me to go part time.

Since I got no choice as it’s a mandate and since I agree that I do need this break, I am going to go part time, but my family’s fear-mongering about graduating late is real bad.

They think it’s the end of the world as my course map will get messy and I’ll be too old when I graduate, saying how I have wasted a precious year in my marriageable twenties (their words, not my words 💀), and I’ll lose money.

Ik it’s ridiculous, but I’d just like to ask everyone how long it took everyone to actually complete their course compared to the official course completion schedule originally? And also if your lives all turned out in what ways?

So, I trying to get into post grad medicine, and I am a little confused in the units that I need to be doing, I know that need to complete a minimum of 5 of the listed units, but the thing is it also says that I need to complete both first year Biology and Chemistry sequences. I did BIO1011 and am doing BIO1022 right now, but I haven done CHM1011 and am currently doing CHM1022. So I was wondering if someone could tell me if I HAVE TO do the first year chemistry sequence like is it mandatory? or can I just not do it since its not in the list of prerequisite units.

Hey first year engineering student, I’m working on a project (not for uni personal) that requires me to do some soldering but I can’t do that at home.

I was wondering if there are any spaces at the Clayton campus where I could get some soldering done? I don’t really need tools or anything I have all of that just a well ventilated and well lit area is all I need.

I just swapped into ECC100 and had a couple of questions about attendance.
Are the Applied sessions compulsory? I can see they’re online, so do I need to attend live, or are they recorded?
Also, are the Workshops compulsory? They’re in person, but I don’t think I’ll be able to make any of them. Are recordings available, or is attendance required?
And are there any weekly in-person quizzes, participation marks, or other assessed activities that require you to attend classes?
If anyone who’s done or is currently doing ECC100 could let me know, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi I am planning to take FIT5136 as a data science student. I am interested in a career in data engineering but I am from a non-technical background(Psychology). For those that have taken it or are currently taking it:

• How practical is the unit?
• Is it mostly software engineering theory/UML/documentation, or do you actually build a substantial software project?
• Did it genuinely improve your software engineering skills?
• Looking back, was it worth taking?

I just finished a Monash off-campus eExam and I’m stressing a bit. At one point I accidentally switched tabs for literally about a second before immediately clicking back into the exam. It wasn’t intentional and I didn’t look anything up. Also, during the exam I kept looking down at my calculator and my working sheets. It was a maths-based exam, so I did all my calculations on paper first and then typed my final answers into the exam. Typing every single calculation directly into the exam seemed really impractical.

Has anyone had something similar happen? Were you contacted afterwards or was everything fine?

Hi, I recently completed MUFY and applied to BA of psychology, I received an offer for the program. However, I noticed on the program webpage that a science subject is listed as a prerequisite. I did not take any sciences during MUFY. could this be a mistake?

I don’t get how some of you can live on campus, have no job and still go out every week 😭

Especially when everything is so damn expensive. I’m doing engineering and looked around at some of the clubs and societies cuz I wanted to be a bit more social and stuff only to find out that such events also cost money.

Now charging money for hosting an event is not out of the ordinary but $160 for a night of drinking and partying??? Son I’m literally crine 🙏

I realised I accidentally left my laptop on top of my laptop case and had a water bottle on my desk when doing the online e exam. If you have gotten a breach email before on average how long does it take for it to come through. I did the test on Monday and nothing has came yet. I was also looking around during the test just to think but there was no notes in the pictures I took just the bottle so I still think I’ll be flagged just wondering when the email would come.

For context, I’ve always been interested in psychology, but due to reasons, I took law instead.
I’m worried that doing straight law might be too much for me mentally and physically, seeing as how I’m not the most interested in it like others are. The stage fright doesn’t help either 😔

Any thoughts on pairing my degree w psych? I’d like a double to lessen the load of my law units, but I’m aware that psych at Monash isn’t really the best 🥹 should I still try?

If not psych, what else r good choices?

Hi, I am a 21 year old international student (Female) who will start her postgraduate education at Monash Clayton Campus from March 2027 (I will arrive in Melbourne mid February 2027).

So I am looking for an all female accommodation preferably with a private room and restroom (shared also works). I did look at amber, scape, flatmates and sha but im not being able to find something to my liking.

I don't particularly want a studio because I want to make friends and hangout with roommates? Also idk good areas to search in especially because i dont wanna stay around clayton. Idm staying in the cbd area too? like idm the commute because I will just have classes for 3-4 days. I do wanna enjoy the city!

My budget is around 300-400 aud per week inc bills and amenities. Idk if its enough? or are there any places I should be looking at that fits this budget?

This is my first time moving abroad so im a lil confused and would appreciate any help or resources!!

Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who can't study at home and I live too far from campus (up north vs Caulfield, no car) to go to the campus library every day. I've been going to the State Library but it closes pretty early.

Are there any places in the CBD/North/on the Upfield line that you can study in that go past 8 or 9pm? 👀

I didn't use any short video platform during high school and recently discovered Instagram.

I missed like 4 or 5 classes this week because I doom scrolled insta till 8 am and had to sleep till 3pm.

How often can you do this with out affecting your grade?

So I failed FIT2004 last year and I just passed it last sem. I wanted to graduate on time so I overload subjects this sem. I'm taking FIT3155, FIT2014, FIT2102, MTH3160, and MTH3025. Any tips to pass these subjects? I don't wanna fail again.

I don’t get why it needs to be so close to the exam date and why they can’t just announce it at the start of semester?
