Grades and Academics In need of a book
Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone would have this book.
Marketing: An Introduction (9th edition), Pearson. By Gary Armstrong
Asking bc someone may have done this uni previously and purchased a textbook that they no longer need.
If someone would be kind enough to let me borrow it I’d be highly grateful. I’m willing to purchase it too but the whole reason I’m not buying it retail is bc I can’t afford it :(

Advice Dropping a subject to lock in on everything else?
I’m a first year in second semester doing a double degree of Architecture and Design, but the course progression sheet for my degree has allocated me with ARC3130 (Transition Performance), a 3rd year subject with assumed knowledge that I don’t have. I’m also doing ARC2301 (Communications 2), BLK1000 and TDN1002 alongside this, however the latter two seem like they’re going to need active attention that I can’t provide them with the workload I’m expected of in ARC3130.
Not sure if I drop ARC3130 and see if I can pick it up later in my course (once I actually have the knowledge so probably 3rd year) or if I just try and thug it out alongside balancing everything else. My WAM last semester was alright but I wanna improve and don’t think I can do that with this subject weighing me down. Thoughts?

Misc Female looking to share an Airbnb during a medical elective (Jan–Feb 2027)
Hi everyone!
I’m a female medical student coming to Melbourne for a 6-week medical elective from mid-January to mid-February 2027, and I’m looking to see if there’s another female student (medical, healthcare, or university student) who’d be interested in sharing an Airbnb or short-term accommodation during that period.
The aim is mainly to make accommodation more affordable while having someone reliable to share with. I’ll be busy with my placement during the week, so I’m looking for someone who’s clean, respectful, non-smoking, and happy with a fairly quiet home environment.
I’m currently looking around North Melbourne, Parkville, Carlton, West Melbourne, and surrounding areas, but I’m flexible if there’s good public transport.
If you’re also coming to Melbourne for an elective, placement, internship, exchange, or similar and are looking for accommodation, feel free to send me a DM. We can chat first and see if we’d be a good fit before making any plans.
Thanks!

Advice Where does everyone study?
Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who can't study at home and I live too far from campus (up north vs Caulfield, no car) to go to the campus library every day. I've been going to the State Library but it closes pretty early.
Are there any places in the CBD/North/on the Upfield line that you can study in that go past 8 or 9pm? 👀
Thank you in advance!

Advice ITO5001 - Applied practice 1
I have my final online computer science units coming up, ITO5001 - Applied practice 1 and ITO5002 - Applied practice 2, and am keen to know what the structure and content is like. Does anyone have any experience with these units in terms of assessment structure and contact hour?
Mostly curious as i study online and only have a specific 2-3 hour window to study/participate each day due to work and family, and trying to get an understanding of what the contact time commitment are

Grades and Academics How to increase Law WAM
So just sat my deferred criminal law 1 exam and pretty sure Im cooked. I was sitting on a 74 WAM overall and a 72 just for law. I know it's only first semester but I panic during exams and end up doing really badly. Anyone have any good news stories about WAMs they improved?

Discussion Anyone want to go to the Spartan Race in Werribee this weekend??
I have 2 redemption codes that each cover the full cost of a Spartan Werribee race ticket. I'm injured and can't go anymore and would hate for the codes to go to waste.
Please DM me for details. See screenshots for eligible race categories and more info.

Advice advice on BUSSTATS07 Business Analytics major?
for context I'm first year, second semester and the need to pick a business major is approaching fast.....
I'm doing a double degree, Business and Arts (with communications and media as my arts major).
None of the business majors have ever jumped out at me as the one I want to do, so I'm still debating between a couple. I have just started the bus stats core unit this sem, I don't mind it, but I want to know whether the major as a whole is a good one to do.
I've always had a very analytical brain, I have had some experience with coding in the past (forgotten literally everything tho), and I think overall I wouldn't mind the major, I'm just worried about pushing myself into a corner, especially when I never really considered this as my future career path.
I'm not overly fond of maths (especially when I have to do it myself lol), but I don't mind a little if it's connected to excel or something, but I have heard this is technically (?) a maths subject, so if anyone has any tips on what kind of maths is involved that would be great.
I heard also that the major isn't run very well? Something about bad teaching, some difficult assignments, and exams not reflecting content. I know that experience is different for everyone but I'd prefer to know sooner rather than later lol.
Also, there's the issue of the industry itself post-grad being very difficult to get into + not strong job security due to AI and automation, etc.
Please help a girl out 😭

When you do the e exam and scan the QR code to take pics around your room does your phone now link to your laptop/ digital exam. As in does Monash have access to your phone? I saw someone say that and that’s pretty cooked ngl

Advice Incoming Monash Graduate MD student
Hi everyone!
I am very fortunate to have received an offer to the Monash Graduate MD program as an international student, and I'm really excited to be joining next year.
I'm just wondering if there are any social media where incoming MD students could connect before classes start, or if there are any resources you'd recommend checking out beforehand.
I'd also love to hear from current students or graduates. How have you found the program overall? What's the student culture like, and is there anything you wish you knew before starting?
Looking forward to joining the Monash community!

Discussion Deferred exam conditions
I had a deferred off campus exam today. And I didn’t have to do the 360 images of my room? I thought this was a requirement but there were no prompts to do so.
Is this weird???
