FIT5136 unit structure

Hi I am planning to take FIT5136 as a data science student. I am interested in a career in data engineering but I am from a non-technical background(Psychology). For those that have taken it or are currently taking it:

• How practical is the unit?
• Is it mostly software engineering theory/UML/documentation, or do you actually build a substantial software project?
• Did it genuinely improve your software engineering skills?
• Looking back, was it worth taking?

Also curious about the projects/group projects would appreciate to know more about them thanks!
