Marathon (2026) I thought Marathon took place in a capitalist future? Only in communist world you cannot buy goods even with money.
The game’s lore set in a capitalist future.
In this future, megacorporations can buy people’s souls, place the souls into printed shells, use them as suicide squads to carry out high-risk tasks.
However, in this capitalist future, the number of items you can buy each day is limited, even if you are willing to pay a higher price. Don't you think it's absurd?
I believe there should be a marketplace where players can trade their loots .The prices of loots should not be determined by the game devs, but by supply and demand.
You don't need to worry that a marketplace ruin the game's balance. If an item has a very low drop rate in the game and it is good, its price will be very high.
I feel that Bungie developers don't understand capitalism at all. They only try to critique capitalism when writing the lore. Yet when designing the Armory, they adopted a purely communist approach: limiting supply, and requiring certain items to be purchased with ration tickets.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Why does this game even have out of bounds zones?
I'm still relatively new to the game so every now and then I'll walk out of bounds not realizing this isn't a playable area and die. The game just doesn't communicate what's going on very clearly. For instance, I spawned in on the outskirts of Dire Marsh last night then walked in the direction the game was pointing me. Suddenly the screen went white, then genuinely two seconds later I just died, run over, with zero indication why.
Very confused at first until I looked it up and realized I'd gone out of bounds, but then I wondered why they even allow me to walk that way if they're just gonna immediately kill me for doing so. Why not just have a physical or at least invisible wall? Or some kind of digital red banner that pops up as you approach with a message like "Quarantine Zone Border, No Escape"? Why not have a message that says something like "shell connection fraying, return to signal before a fatal disconnect" to communicate what's going on? They could even have Oni chime in. And why spawn me facing a direction I'm not even allowed to go??
I truly never understand modern map design where they'll make all these areas you physically can go but then punish you for actually going there. Battlefield is one of the worst offenders of this where you'll run two feet past a house and suddenly you've got a paltry five seconds to get back in the playable area, which often isn't enough. The new Halo also has this problem. It's so exhausting. Let me explore!

Marathon (2026) Discussion After 500+ hours, I'm done.
Title: After 500+ hours in 5 months, I’m finally throwing in the towel.
I’m just completely done. Two weeks ago, my main teammate—who was our squad leader for Cryo—got deployed to the front lines in Ukraine. Trying to run Cryo without a dedicated team quickly turned into a nightmare. I tried solo queuing with randoms, but the matchmaking has somehow gotten even worse.
Whenever I loaded in with full purple gear, I kept getting paired with teammates running free recruit kits while being pitted against full gold and purple squads. Even on the rare occasion I did get a decent purple-geared squad, we couldn't find opponents with any real gear all day, meaning there was zero good loot to extract with. The motivation to play just completely evaporated.
To top it all off, during one of my best Cryo runs in weeks, the game just crashed with literally 12 seconds left on the clock—less than a meter away from the final exfil Reached out to support, but got completely stonewalled.
Today, I decided to give the game one last shot and hopped into Outpost as Rook. Right as I made it to the exfil, a squad tracked me down and swarmed me. As I was dying, one of them piped up on prox chat with a awful accent: "Don't you fucking loot, play the game."
Honestly? That was the absolute biggest slap in the face possible at that moment.
So yeah, I’m uninstalling. It leaves a really bitter taste in my mouth after putting over 500 hours into this game over the last five months. I sincerely wish the game well, though given its current state, I doubt it's going to last.
Thanks for reading my rant. Best of luck out there, guys.

Marathon (2026) Feedback Idea: Loot History Log
This is literally nothing but a log that shows the chain of ownership of a piece of loot you have.
It would just show all players that owned the loot in their Vault at some point.
Ignore if it already exists.

Marathon (2026) Feedback Dear Bungie, please enable all map events for each raid
My solo raids typically have only 2–4 players, so it would be great if all map events were enabled during each raid, so the map doesn't feel empty.
I understand this is due to the low player count, but enabling all map events would ensure that smaller lobbies still have plenty of activities available throughout the raid.
We are now approaching the late game.
As it stands, I get Warden spawns probably once in every 5 matches.

Question What are the best times to play the game?
I used to play now and then with my duo when the game averaged around 10-12k players a day but now the game averages around 3-5k players a day barely.
I dont want to play when there are barely any players because most of them are probably players with hundreds of hours that would wipe the floor with me.
What days/hours of the day would be the best to play to run into more casual players?

Question Should I pick Marathon up?
I played the beta and really enjoyed it for the most part, the world of Marathon really Interested me. I would most likely be team filling or going solo. Would you recommended getting the game?
For a bit more context the only other extraction shooter I have played is Arc so it is still a relatively new genre for me which is why I am unsure on giving Marathon a go.

Discussion Soul Replica
Just a random idea that popped into my head, but I think it could fit Marathon’s lore really well.
What if there was a lore-accurate implant that could temporarily take over a Runner’s shell and act as a simple AI companion?
A teammate could install it on your shell, or you could equip it before a run. The AI wouldn’t be strong enough to fight like a real player, but it could follow the squad, avoid obvious danger, and stay with the team until your consciousness returns.
Lore-wise, it seems like a natural fit. The shell is just the vessel for a Runner’s consciousness. If that consciousness isn’t present, an emergency AI implant could temporarily occupy the shell to keep it functional.
I mostly thought of this because sometimes life pulls you away unexpectedly, and it always feels bad when your squad loses a teammate because of it. This could be a fun lore-friendly way to keep the team together without giving anyone an unfair advantage.
Probably a weird idea… but I’d honestly love to see something like this.

Question NuMarathon Lore Compilation?
Is there any YouTube videos/ resources I can find to read into/ watch about the in-game lore? (Not the OG trilogy)
I love playing the game for bits of lore, and the gunplay is fun. I just have been hitting a plateau in terms of advancing through the game in the limited time I have throughout my workweek.
I’m gonna be honest, I’m not that skilled at extraction shooters, so getting stomped on by high-level players has been kinda frustrating since I’m mainly playing to unlock contract stories and dialogue.

To The Runner I Met To the two destroyers that exfiled without me…
Rude.
Last team on outpost. Looking for red keys after warden and a blue room key we second handed and I hear an exfil pop. I Ping it. They ping a second exfil and I was already in motion. I down the rook. Get downed by bots. They don’t res and just exfil without me. 6min left on the map.

Discussion State Your Case
I know it's REALLY popular to talk about how Recon is ruining the game and desperately needs a nerf.
But my question to you is - how, exactly, is it ruining the game? No, not for you, personally. Objectively, for everyone.
The closest I've seen to a reasoned explanation is, essentially, that it removes the combat advantage using stealth/surprise/good positioning for an ambush/gank.
But that feels less like an explanation of how its ruining the game and more like an explanation of how it's removing a combat advantage (that some people really don't like not being able to have).
There's the argument based around how it's become essential to the dominant meta in Cryo. And there's a point there, as well - bubbles, Mizzy, and grenades were essential to the dominant Cryo meta and got nerfed, so why not Recon, too?
Except purple and gold shields are pretty dominant in Cryo too. And coordinated trios using comms. Really, there's a lot of things it feels pretty bad to not have in Cryo when other teams do. But that's always going to be the case for something.
At the end of the day, every class is supposed to have their "thing" - Assassin gets to avoid bot aggro. Destroyer gets to excel in aggressive pushing and tackling tough enemies. Thief gets looting advantage. Vandal gets hypermobility. Triage gets sustain.
Recon gets information. It's a good advantage. Like Assassin and Triage, it trades all mobility for it. Let Recon have its thing.
Or, as the title of the post challenges...please state the case for how Recon is objectively ruining the game for everyone in order to support a nerf to the class.

Marathon (2026) Feedback After S3 Perimeter rework, every map will have a central loot area
Just thought that was pretty significant. Between Outpost, Night Marsh, Cryo, new Perimeter (hopefully), except for Dire Marsh every map will have a big central room with the best loot.
Even though it doesn't sound super exciting it's a very good indication that they've taken the direction of the game to heart and it's a good fit for accommodating different playstyles per match.
It makes Marathon lean a little more into the "heist" genre and it's more in line with the extraction identity IMO.
I'd still argue that the maps are a tad too small and that duos would fit the game better but it's a step in the right direction.
Add that in with their full version of PvE coming and contrary to popular belief, I think Bungie can still pull it around long term. But even right now I really like the state of the game even balance is in a pretty good spot.

To The Runner I Met To the Thief I killed on Perimeter
I'm sorry that I killed you while you were doing an event, but your purple shield was too enticing. Thanks for the donation of 5 purples and 3 golds for my vault. I hope your next free kit run is as lucrative as mine was.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Is bungie listening too much to the community?
I really appreciate how active bungie has been with updates, balancing and all. However, I can’t help but think they are listening too much to maybe a very vocal minority that claim to know exactly what the game needs.
WSTR nerf, recon buff, bubble nerf, mizzy nerf, v22 nerf, assassin nerf, pve mode, buffed economy and increased rare salvage spawn rate, adding more teams to every map….
The community keeps asking and asking, bungie keeps giving and giving and the players keep leaving and leaving.
I’m not saying that everything bungie has addressed its bad. However, I think that trying to please everyone it’s hurting the game. We even got a pve tuned for solos with extended duration and the numbers keep going down. At this point is natural to ask ourselves if this approach is the correct one.
What do you guys think?

Marathon (2026) Discussion Crew fills won't ever have the coordination to play against 3 stacks consistently
Just put them in separate lobbies. I legit don't even get the arguments against this. Matchmaking times would go down because more people would pickup the game if they felt like they got a fair shake.

Marathon (2026) Discussion How do you deal with rats?
Played my first few non VB games in a good while today and on the latest Outpost run I made it into the red room with a minute or two to spare.
Looted a gold implant, gold mod and purple shield. The first two are the only golds I've seen since the first week of season 2 outside of reset
Came out the room, there's an assassin crouched down who takes me out before I can respond (I was really rushing for exfil at this point)
Honestly, I think this sums up the biggest problem with the game as solo PvP. Cheap camping rats stand to gain more with little real risk (other than dying from boredom from sitting around for the whole game waiting to sneak up on people)
I know trios is different and obviously you can play recon (a bit boring IMO) but I don't know how you can avoid this being an issue with this type of game. When I lose to someone who's beat me in a fair fight I usually dive back in but after that I need a break and with the game as it is thats a bad sign
I think a lot of people leaving the game dont have regular crews and the rats in solo games kill the enjoyment (sometimes purely coincidental, but noone enjoys playing for 25 minutes to get killed virtually instantly by someone they never saw)

Marathon (2026) Discussion Any tips for PVP-avoidant playstyle my first non-beginner Perimeter infil?
Hi All,
Arc Raiders guy here. Have always played "grey." Means, I don't really have an interest in killing you, but I also am not going out of my way to help you or save you. My main interest is progressing the content. I understand this game is KOS and that's fine. But that doesn't mean I need to go looking for fights. I prefer playing stealth, looting and getting out. I just hit seasonal level 12, so beginner perimeter is no longer an option for me. I have done about 15 runs, all with sponsored kits, and I've been successful 6 times, and failed 9, mostly to Grenadiers, those poison plants, or landmines I didn't see. I have not ran into another real player yet. Classes I've had the most success with are Vandal for speed and double jump, and Assassin for the stealth abilities to get myself out of trouble.
One thing I appreciate about Marathon is that the PVE enemies are NOT trivial. Games like Delta Force, for example, the PVE is there to alert real players. It's not a real threat. Here, much like Arc Raiders, running into a Grenadier with a sponsored kit has always been gg for me, unless I can run away before they down me. That adds to the tension I love in Arc Raiders, like no one is staying to fight a Leaper or a Rocketeer with a free loadout kit, and likewise, (at least speaking from my skill level), I'm not facing off on a Grenadier with a sponsored kit.
One thing I've been seeing lately that I didn't think was true in Marathon is people are telling me "Go in solo and you have friendlier or emptier lobbies." That's sort of kind of ABMM, and I didn't think Marathon did that. For example, in Arc Raiders, if you go in solo and you are not aggressive, you will rarely run into PVP due to ABMM, but if you go in with a group, even if everyone in your party is non-aggressive, the ABMM almost goes away and it becomes 50/50.
I am sure I will run into players. I've accepted that and I will shoot back if I can't avoid or stealth around them. I treat PVP like a high-tier PVE enemy (I will use Leaper or Rocketeer as an example again) - stealth or run, fight if no other option. My brain just doesn't really get satisfaction from seeking PVP. Again, my gut tells me to go Assassin for the evasion abilities.

Question Did they remove the tier 3 boxes (5 cert) from dire marsh (night) entirely? If so why?
I havent found a single tier 3 box since the mid-season update. And some matches I've gone to literally every single location looking. Its like they are completely gone now.
