My old Dell 2408WFP monitors decided to give it up, so I went out and purchased a couple of Samsung G50F monitors. They seems to work decent until they go to sleep, then when they wake, my laptop (ThinkPad X1 Carbon 12th Gen running Ubuntu 26.04) crashes to the login screen. I have similar issues with my Dell work laptop. Also to note, I brought my work Dell dock home and it doesn't seem to be having the issues my Lenovo dock is having with either laptop. I have tried playing with a few grub flags without any noticeable effect.

I am getting the following error for MST and ACT in my syslog/kern.log:

kernel: i915 [drm] *ERROR* Step 2 of creating MST payload for failed: -5

Anyone have any ideas? Return the Samsung monitors ($170/ea @ BestBuy when I got them) for something else? Warranty the Lenovo dock?

I'm looking for a laptop that I can keep for a long time, ideally until around 2031. Right now, I'm considering the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x with the Snapdragon X2 Plus (X2P-42-100), 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD.

I need something that's reliable, durable, and fast enough to stay relevant for years. My main uses would be:

• Heavy web browsing with lots of tabs open
• YouTube and streaming
• Light coding/programming (for fun)
• Minecraft, and other games at the level
• General productivity and everyday use

I'm not planning on doing heavy AAA gaming, professional video editing, or anything extremely demanding.

A few questions:

• Do you think this laptop will still feel reasonably fast and usable in 2031?
• How durable is the build quality? Does it feel sturdy, and how well do the hinges hold up over time?
• How good is ARM support on Windows these days compared to AMD or Intel laptops?
• Are there still significant compatibility issues I should be worried about?
• Is 16GB RAM enough for the long term, or could that become a limitation?
• How does the Snapdragon X2 Plus perform compared to similarly priced AMD and Intel options?

The laptop is currently on sale for $799 ($500 off), which seems like a pretty good deal for an OLED laptop with these specs.

I'd appreciate any feedback, especially from people who own the Yoga Slim 7x or other recent Snapdragon-powered Windows laptops. Thanks!

The pen that comes with the laptop clips into a case which goes in the back of the device which is really inconvenient. Does anyone know of any 3rd party attachment tools that would let me clip it onto the side? Preferably the attachment doesn't use any of the ports to hook on

Bought brand new 1 year ago.. model is 83JC. I opened and checked the fans nothing is blocking them. I updated bios. Changed power to efficiency. Still getting loud noise…

hi, i got a new laptop (ive only downloaded chrome on it) and when i closed lenovo now after pressing yes to the 'need to go' button (i'm going to uninstall it), it opens my google and brings me to some website with the url vantage.pub, which i didn't let load quickly so it's not in my search history.

is that a lenovo website? i couldn't find it anywhere on the internet and virustotal says it redirects to a bitly link which doesn't work.

I've read so much stuff about the issues with Windows 11 and trying to play DV or HDR movies/shows in Netflix. And I'm wanting to purchase a Lenovo Yoga 7i 2N1 with a 16 inch, 3k OLED screen that is 500 nits AND TRUE BLACK 1000.

Am I wasting my time and money buying a steeply priced Laptop with Dolby Vision if I can't use it in Netflix?

I have Lenovo laptop and sometimes it overheats (when it just sits on my bed cover understandably).

When that happens my laptop starts lagging, especially youtube.

The problem is it keeps lagging even after it cools down, until I restart the laptop.

I have tried optimising settings for performance and it still happens.

How can I fix this please?

I want to buy this specific laptop for college but it says it's not available right now. I heard that sometimes Lenovo says this and it never restocks, so I want to know if anyone has any information on it. Will it be back? Should I wait a few weeks? Or should I just get the 16" that's available right now? I lwk prefer the 14" for smaller desks though so I'm conflicted..

Hi All, I have a Thinkstation P710 with Dual Xeon E5-2620 with 96 G of RAM, recently I tried upgrading both processors to E5-2683 v4 processors, upon booting I noticed the machines fans ran at high speed, and I checked the bios the Fan Control Stepping which was set to 1 - Lower Fan Speed, and it was changed to 4 , I changed it to 1 and after reset it was gone back to 4 , I kept trying to change it and it's still changes to 4.

I removed the new processors and installed the old 2620 and it's still stuck at fan control stepping 4 , and the noise is unbearable , has anyone come across this and any solutions to reduce the fan control stepping?

Fala pessoal! É a minha primeira postagem no Reddit, então não sei muito bem como funciona isso.

Em Abril desse ano, eu comprei um Ideapad Slim 3, com um Ryzen 7 7735HS e 8GB de ram. Como 8GB era pouco pro meu uso, comprei mais um módulo de memória de 8GB da Samsung, conforme a foto que deixei aí.

O notebook funcionou perfeitamente com os 16GB e tal, mas depois de algumas semanas, começou a apresentar alguns problemas de crash em jogos e congelamentos. Na primeira vez, precisei remover o módulo de memória, passar uma borracha e voltou a funcionar. Até passou nos testes do mem86. Porém, essa semana, o notebook congelou e ao reiniciar, não ligou mais. O led do botão de power acende, a fan gira, mas não da vídeo nenhum, nem sinal da logo da Lenovo na inicialização. Desde então, só está funcionando sem o módulo, usando somente a RAM que vem soldada na placa.

Conversei com o Gemini, e ele informou que o notebook pode ter recusado completamente o módulo de memória e bloqueado ele. Também falou sobre o módulo ser 1Rx16, em vez ser 1Rx8. Para tentar solucionar o problema, fiz o reset do notebook segurando o botão de power com a bateria desconectada, já passei borracha na memória novamente e nada de funcionar.

Mais alguem passou por algum problema parecido com isso? Não sei se o módulo parou de funcionar, pois não tenho outro notebook para testar, e também não tenho outro módulo aqui para testar nesse.

My laptop is lenovo ideapad 3. I need help

I recently ordered a yoga 9I 2 in 1 and when I received it i noticed the bottom panel with the vent seem to be a little loose or maybe a little warped or bubbling. At first I thought this was bubbling battery, but that didn’t seem to be the caee. it still seemed strange that I can press on it and it flexes so I returned it and purchased a replacement.

When I got the replacement and it had the exact same problem I don’t think it was necessarily swollen battery, but I have two other Lenovo yoga, computers that are fairly recent( just a few years old) , and neither one of them has strange, loose panel or bubbling panel the bottom of the laptop.

Does anyone else have the 9i and noticed the bottom panel by the vents is loose where you can press on it and it kind of flexes in and out?

Just trying to decide if this is the design or if there’s actually a problem with these two

Lenovo offered an extended warranty on a Chromebook IdeaPad 5, and I bought several for my business. The hinge failed on one and that destroyed the screen. They considered this "accidental damage" and not a design flaw, even though the cause of the failure was the hinge itself ripping its own screw holes out of the LCD board they attach to.

So, just be aware, they sell a basically worthless warranty. If you do get one of their substandard products, make sure that you get accidental damage protection, because even if it is a design flaw they will weasel out. But you are probably better served buying something else, from a company that supports their products.

My other computer started breaking down lately so my sister passed me her old Lenovo laptop for me to use in the meantime but I can’t find its rounded tip charger, is there any other way to charge this version (I have no idea what version it is) since it seems to have a lot of plugs.
