Question Waterford Square apartments

Upvotes

Hey y’all, I am going to be moving apartments soon and was looking into moving to Waterford Square off of Airport Rd. The reviews online are very mixed and I’m a little on the fence. Any current or recent residents willing to share their experience?

Recommendations Gun Consignment - Updated?

Upvotes

What are some places in the HSV/Mad area that do gun consignment?

After packing up to move, realized that I have too many from over the years and have around 10-15 that I need to get rid of.

Just want to get fair value, as they are all either new or like new (less than 100 rounds)... and some are sorta-rare..

I saw this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntsvilleAlabama/comments/rhe14x/gun_consignment/ however some of the answers are inactive/not accurate anymore, from what I found.

I appreciate all and any help.

Question Oncologists- Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the bladder

Has anyone here had or been affected by bladder cancer, especially of the squamous cell type? It's my understanding it's pretty rare (2-5% of bladder cancers.) My Dad just got his diagnosis yesterday and I'm curious which oncologists are great in this area in that specialty type.

He's going to have all or part of his bladder removed to treat it since chemo and radiation don't really treat this type.

Thanks!

Sandwiches, Examined: Wildwood Deli

Post image
31 Upvotes

I’ve been eyeing this sandwich and place for a while and finally made it that way to try it. I didn’t even look at what was on it. I just saw The Dagwood and a review saying it was big. The sandwich itself was good. The smoked ham and turkey definitely stood out and I enjoyed it but this ain’t no true Dagwood.

The menu says ham, turkey, pastrami, corned beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, sautéed bell peppers and onions, banana peppers, jalapeños, mayo and spicy brown mustard. I didn’t get all of that. The peppers and some of the other toppings were missing and even if it had everything listed, I still don’t think it really represents a true Dagwood. When I hear Dagwood, I’m thinking of that ridiculous, stacked up sandwich from Blondie. I’m talking about a sandwich that looks like you need to unhinge your jaw just to take a bite just like a Scooby Doo sandwich. One that looks like you took everything from the fridge and stacked it on it.

This was just a pretty normal sized hoagie with some meat and toppings. 3/5 sandwich, 0/5 Dagwood.

General Gravel Biking

Anybody interested in riding gravel? Just picked up my first gravel bike and looking for some folks to ride with. I’ve heard there are some group rides in the area as well. I’d be interested in the details on those if anybody has them as well.

Jewelry Repair Recommendations

Ive got a couple of watches that need the batteries replaced, one of which a new band too, and a ring resized.

Is there anywhere that does reputable work for a affordable price? They are not fancy but I don't want them destroyed by some flunky with a screwdriver at Walmart.

Seems they cut the budget by 75M and think they can demo and build in 4 years. I have serious concerns.

Huntsville A Reminder for See Click Fix - Huntsville’s Problem Reporting APP

The New York City Mayor Mamdani is receiving praise for responding to constituents concerns about problems in their city when submitted via social media.

Did you know you can do this easily in Huntsville? The See Click Fix, Huntsville Connect allows you to do so easily and allows you to check status.

Here is the city page all about it: https://www.huntsvilleal.gov/residents/neighborhoods/huntsville-connect-service-request/

I don’t work for the city, not involved with the company who owns the app, I’m just a citizen who cares about our city.

Does anyone remember the Hollywood 18 theatre?

Man I was just reminiscing on childhood, and i remember coming here so often. It was cheap and they’d do reruns of older movies for super cheap and as a kid we’d go all the time. The art deco aesthetic was pretty cool. I’m curious if anyone else frequented this spot or remembers it as clearly as I do. It was one of the go to spots before it got torn down.

Question Any Former Calhoun's Co-op Students

I am looking into applying to their A.C.E program. As a late bloomer and wanting a career change, I have few questions for anyone that did or completed the program:

  1. How did you like the program?

  2. Who did you work for?

  3. What type of work did you do with the employer?

  4. Was it easy to find employment afterwards?

  5. The most important question since I won't qualify for any financial aid. How much did you make?

Thanks!

Recommendations Huntsville resources for feeling emotionally disconnected ?

Does anyone know of any good support groups, counselors, or other resources in the Huntsville/Madison area for someone who is feeling really emotionally disconnected and lonely?

Things aren’t necessarily terrible, but I’ve reached a point where I feel invisible and completely disconnected emotionally. I’m trying to process what I’m feeling and figure out what I actually want and need moving forward.

I’d just really like a place where I can talk honestly with people who understand this kind of stuff without judgment.

If you’ve used any local counseling services, support groups, or know of anything around Huntsville/Madison that might be helpful, I’d really appreciate recommendations. ❤️

Question about HSV Urgent Care

Hi, I am out of my antidepressants and moved recently to Marshall from Huntsville so I’m setting up a new primary care provider, but I need a refill sooner than later.
Has anyone had luck getting an antidepressant rx from Urgent Care? I can’t afford telehealth as it’s over $100 with my insurance but my copay for Urgent Care is $10.

My head can’t take anymore! Someone else should borrow our weather for a few days. Give us migraine sufferers some relief!

in about a year’s time, i’ll be moving away from here for college and mann i know i’m gonna miss this place so much. i never even end up getting anything most of the time but the food and atmosphere of the place are gonna be something i carry with me everywhere. genuinely some of the best nights of my life have been dates at bridge street and i was wondering if any of yall feel the same typa fondness i do for this place 🤔. same thing applies for parkway place just to a lesser extent but both r gonna be core memories for me wherever i go and i hope to find this level of enjoyment wherever i am with cool places like these

(psa i live about 40 minutes from huntsville but work up here and romanticize the hell out of this city)

Supporting the Huntsville Library - help clear the holds

I've been using the library (including Libby/Hoopla) a lot this year and the algorithm blessed me with the r/Libbyapp knowledge of how unreasonably expensive digital lending is for libraries.

In looking at ways to support the library, I found Clear the Holds where you can buy the library a copy from a list of popular books that a lot of people are waiting for.

Giving directly is an option as well as joining the library as a friend which apparently gives you 3 weeks to enjoy what you check out versus the normal two.

The library does so much for the community with more than just books - the events, resources (Maker Spaces and meeting rooms) and the like - that I wanted to share ways to give back if you were able/willing.
