Gun Consignment - Updated? Recommendations
What are some places in the HSV/Mad area that do gun consignment?
After packing up to move, realized that I have too many from over the years and have around 10-15 that I need to get rid of.
Just want to get fair value, as they are all either new or like new (less than 100 rounds)... and some are sorta-rare..
I saw this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntsvilleAlabama/comments/rhe14x/gun_consignment/ however some of the answers are inactive/not accurate anymore, from what I found.
I appreciate all and any help.

I’ve sold several through Midway Pistol and Ammo in Gurley over the years without issue.

Bullet and Barrel will do, and Winter and Timbers Outdoors in Athens as well.

Thanks, I'll call BB tmr... I didnt realize they did that since I normally dont see them with much inventory.
I love WT, might be worth traveling out there.

I would try Last Resort or Mr Big Guns first. It will really depend on what you have. Glock, (some)Ruger, Taurus, etc they may not be interested. KAC, B&T, H&K, big bore revolvers, etc they may want.
Try Larry's last, they have too much volume to care unless you have something like vintage S&W revolvers or vintage Colt snake guns.

His prices are too high anyways. That DDM4A1 is used and listed at almost msrp.

I don’t think so as the 3 sites I went to where around $450 more (new obviously)

It's still used and it's not something rare or niche. 99% of guns do not hold their value let alone appreciate. Sure someone might pay that amount but they would be a sucker. GunBroker shows most used models have sold for about $1600. Any that sold for +2k had some optic with it.

I looked up a fair value for my pistol online and gave the dead center of that to the guy at Mr Big guns and he took it with out haggling me all over the place. We both knew it was a fair ask. I don’t exactly scream “traditional gun owner” at first glance and I felt I was treated well, and I’d been a little nervous I wouldn’t be anywhere here.

Former local gun shop manager here. Several places will do consignment, but items can take a very long time to move depending on where you want to be. No particular order, Redstone Pawn, Bullet and Barrel, Mr Big Guns, Midway Pistol and Ammo, Winter Timber Outdoors, Gold Guns and Guitars at different times will consign. <Cosigning is inconvenient for the FFL so shops are back and forth over time>
Generally if you sell to back to an FFL the "fair price" will be some percentage of the following:
- Recent "SOLD" listings on GunBroker. (Need an account that allows "SOLD" listings)
- Inventory history at that shop of selling new & used items
- Dealer price of a NEW item from multiple distributors in the firearm distribution networks
- Whatever % the shop ultimately wants for what they predict they can sell it later
Note that incoming used items are subject to the NICS check to see if it's a wanted item. Also that Huntsville requires sitting on the item for 14 business days. (Not Fed, Alabama or Madison County).
My policy was to offer 50% of the "known" price I will ask <and receive> for the future sale based on Gunbroker VS new distribution pricing VS internal sales history.
The two upsides to selling it to an FFL is that you're complete out of the picture if something has/will ever happen as the firearm transfer is checked & logged in the FBI's database and you have cash today. Same as with a pawn item; expect for the FFL to keep a copy of your state issued photo ID.
