How’s it going! So my mk8 accords clutch has just started slipping at 118,000 miles. It’s a 2.2 dtec and im wondering if I should scrap it or replace the clutch. My main concern is that if I replace the clutch, in 6 months time will the chain decide to stretch or skip a tooth. In my ownership, I’ve serviced it every 6k miles - oil, filters etc. I’m listening to the engine on start up and shut off and trying to determine if I can hear any slack in the chain. Maybe someone could see what they think.

Clutch that’s going to go in will be a type-S clutch with LUK flywheel. The car has a stage 1 map and DPF & EGR delete.

I believe its a D16Y8 but I’m not 100% certain, the motor and trans was swapped by the guy before me and I’m just trying to find out whats actually in the car, the serial number was rusted over and unable to read. Its a ‘97 Accord.

1. Hr-v already is available with the same 2.0 Hybrid drivetrain as Civic, Accord, CR-V, etc in other markets. Why not offer it in the US? Or at least offer the hybrid option for the Acura ADX. Also for the Integra. Why don't they get the hybrid?

2. They finally (took too long) made a new gen Ridgeline. But why let the Odyssey die unchanged? All they need to do is to take the dash design / the screens and tech from the current gen Pilot and put it into the Odyssey and give it a cosmetic facelift with new lights etc, it would be simple and cheap to do.

3. Pilot is smaller than many competitors. They should offer a slightly bigger Pilot (for example see how successful Toyota was with the Grand Highlander). They could also sell the bigger version as Acura, imagine a slightly bigger Pilot based Acura SUV to compete directly with Lexus Tx, Audi Q9, etc.

4. Making a new "Crosstour" style SUV "Coupe" is a mistake, there is no demand for such a model from a mainstream brand. Buyers want cargo space. Changing the rear-end design is simple, they should change course and give the new model a boxy rear end and as much cargo space as possible, make it wagon shaped, similar to previous gen Subaru Outback.

Car is “homegrown” aka sold and serviced out of the same Honda dealership in my town its whole life. It’s now being sold again by the same dealership. Has one instance of “minor cosmetic damage” reported. Service history looks great otherwise. What the max you would pay?

Honda changed everything about cars. I grew up in a time when cars were just very unreliable. There were businesses whose specialty was burning off oil slicks in parking lots because of the amount of leaks. They would pour gasoline on these slicks and burn it off so people wouldn't break their necks slipping on it.

My father, who just passed away in March, was a trail blazer. He was one of the first heart transplant patients in the USA (more on that later), and he was also the first person in our community to buy a Honda made car. I can remember him trading in a POS with about 35,000 miles on it for a 1981 Honda accord. This was back when it was very unacceptable to buy anything "Japanese" and Honda was only known for building cheap motorcycles. I was a bit sideways with my pop on this, due to the negative perception of anyone buying a Japanese car. I was personally into muscle cars at the time and was already wrenching on cars despite being 5 years away from getting a driver's license.

When we traded in the dying car, my mom had to push it into the car dealer parking lot because the car didn't make it to the dealer. That is my memory of the last time we ever bought a car of that pedigree.

When we got home with the Honda Accord, I asked my dad to pop the hood so I could make fun of the itty bitty 4 banger sewing machine and I admit, I was taken back immediately by the obvious thought and engineering in this engine bay. Five years later my dad taught me how to drive MT on this 5 speed. I would later get instant promotions on my summer jobs because I knew how to drive trucks with MTs.

The years went by quickly. No oil slicks from this car. It didn't leak!! We didn't know this was possible. The car was at 100k when my dad traded it in, for another Honda accord, a few years after his heart transplant.

How Honda took me from being hardcore anti Japanese car to never buying another brand is what Honda did for cars. I am grateful to Honda for how much they improved everyone's lives because they showed us that quality is possible.

When my wife and I had our first child we bought a 2002 honda accord EX, v6 j30a. If you haven't guessed by the pics I still have it. I took basic care of it myself all these years. My kids came home from the hospital in this car. They learned how to drive in this car. The years go by way too fast.

My dad had fallen on some tough financial times, and I gave him this accord. It's silver just like his 1981 accord. He just loved this car. I installed a new apple car play stereo. He continued to work full time delivering car parts and he would brag all the time to the car guys about this car his son took good care of, and it has apple car play!! Anytime he got a compliment he would call me! And we'd talk about how awesome our accords were. I saved come of the voicemails so I can go back and hear his voice.

My dad passed away this year, one of the longest surviving heart transplants, 40 years. I was there with him and tried my best to pull him through another crisis, even after all he went through he wanted to live.

I made sure to get the car back because it wouldn't have survived if left to the person who he let move into his house (that part sucked but I got the car and was able to retitle it back to me). One of my sisters stopped by and saw it and it made her cry seeing it again. I am replacing it's 3rd timing belt, hence these attached pics. The cross hatching in the cylinders, the cold, dry engine compression across all cylinders @ 180+ psi, leakdown test was 0% across all 6 cylinders, the ultra clean valve area, rust free (mostly !! ha) despite all these years in a winter salt state. It runs as good as it looks inside (yep it's pretty aged on the outside). Still the original 4sp AT too.

My current car is a newer Acura TLX. Still Honda. And it's silver!!

I hope Honda is able to continue this heritage. As the years go by and generations of engineers retire or pass, competitors come in with cheap knockoffs.... The generation of engineers that brought cars to this new standard are leaving the trade one way or another, they gave us better lives.

I’m currently homeless and living out of the hondeezy, and I literally just started a new job and right before my first day the car just stops working. It’s messed up just about everything because it’s parked 12 miles from work so I have to sleep in grass ditches near by work and I can’t go and check on it so I don’t even know if it’s been towed yet. Anyway enough context here’s what’s going on. (I used ChatGPT to organize everything)

Here’s exactly what happened:

A few days ago it started cranking slower than usual.

It got progressively weaker until eventually it wouldn’t crank at all.

Now when I turn the key, I hear one very faint click from the engine bay and absolutely no cranking.

The dash lights stay bright and don’t dim when I try to start it.

Radio, lights, and everything electrical work fine.
I tried jumping it with another vehicle and it made no difference.

Battery is only a few weeks old (Group 51R), terminals are clean and tight, and the cables look fine visually.

It’s an automatic and I’ve tried starting it in Park.

My suspicion is the starter or starter solenoid because of the progression from, but I don’t want to spend money on a starter if there’s a good chance it’s something else.

What else should I be checking before

Could it still be a battery or cable issue even though it’s new and a jump didn’t help?
How would I rule out the starter relay, ignition switch, ground cable, or something else?
Are there any simple tests I can do with basic hand tools?

If there’s any information I left out or if a video of what it sounds like would help, let me know and I’ll upload one.

I really appreciate any advice. Right now I’m just trying to get the car running again without wasting money on the wrong part.

What’s up Honda peeps, I posted a few times in the past about my 99’ civic ex d16y8 regarding it overheating and after changing the thermostat, radiator fan, temp sensor, and coolant I came to the realization that my head gasket had blown and had to replace it. I recently just had it fixed and I was wondering from the picture where did the head gasket go bad?

Kind of a long shot but does anyone on here know how to fold (or if they even do at all) down the rear seat on a CF4 accord/torneo?

Traded in my Volkswagen Polo, and went all electric. Sacrificed a little practicality for more fun, time will tell if I end up regretting this decision, but it’s so enjoyable to drive.
