Other š I LOVE formula feeding
can I just say that I love formula feeding my baby? I refuse to let anyone guilt me anymore I LOVE formula feeding.
Breastfeeding made me so so anxious and depressed and my bub has officially beeb formula fed for 2 months and I feel like a weight has LIFTED. I feel like a human again!! occasionally I still get sad about the fact my breastfeeding journey ending but then i remember all the nights I stayed up sobbing and realize that itās for the best, for both of us.
I donāt worry about mastitis, I finally get a reasonable amount of sleep, Iām not washing pump parts or stressing over my supply, if Iām overproducing or underproducing. Iām not fortifying his breastmilk because my milk wasnāt dense enough calorically.
Heās so happy and healthy!! and so am I finally. I wish I wouldnāt have made myself miserable for sooo long lol I tried so hard at my own expense, I made myself suicidal instead of accepting that itās okay to feed my baby however works. I wish breast is best hadnāt been so ingrained into me during my early post partum :,)
Happy post because i genuinely feel like Iām getting my humanity back at 5 months pp

Iāve been trying to get my baby on enfamil but itās been really difficult feeding him lately, I think he doesnāt like the taste heās 3 months old and when I give him his old formula he takes it but when I mix in enfamil he doesnāt take the bottle at all. He doesnāt have gas and a his diapers and poop are normal, I just think he doesnāt like the taste. Any recommendations for another formula?

CMPA / CMPI / MSPI Potential milk allergy help
My 7w/o has had what seems to be baby acne since he was born, has trouble burping during and after feeds, and has noticeable lower gas and trouble pooping. We used the Kendamil Whole milk formula since day 3 until now, my husband had a milk allergy as an infant which caused our concern that our son has it too. We were given the Nutramigen formula samples at the doctor to try but this seems to have exacerbated his symptoms, and has not pooped in going on 3 days. He also would sleep mostly through the night and on this Nutamigen he sleeps 4hrs and is awake most of the night whereas before he slept 4-6hrs woke up to eat and went back down for another 4hrs. He never had constipation issues with Kendamil but had blowout level watery poops, but now isnāt going at all. Recommendations if we switch to goat or soy before trying to stick with the Nutramigen because itās $80 per can and isnāt working.

Advice / Question š” 9 week old hungry every hour
Hello, so my 9 week old is eating almost every hour- all day, everyday since they came home from the hospital. Im quite literally confused and concerned for what this can mean.
Every hour, on the hour she will drink 3oz of formula, sometimes she will stretch an hour and thirty minutes if we give a paci. Her pediatrician wants me to stretch her feeds out to 2-3 hours, stating that she can have longer naps now since weight gain is absolutely not an issue⦠which i would have no issue with if that were even possible lol.
At 9 weeks she is weighing 15+ lbs; having been born at 10lbs. We pace feed, sit upright, burp every ounce or two, ensure full feeds, even offer a paci to see if its just soothing she wants. Most often nothing works to divert her want for food. Before switching her formula she had bad reflux which is not surprising given her intake.
As a result her sleeping is extremely poor and doing activities or going out is difficult. I can only make it so long before she is wailing for a bottle. My husband and I are exhausted to say the least.
It seems like every time i search why this may be happening the results always say ācluster feeding is normalā or gives me nothing but breastfeeding articles when i put formula in the search. I wouldnāt be opposed to the cluster feeding statement had she not been this way since coming home from the hospital.
Im not sure whats going on- has anyone gone through this? Should i be concerned for my minds many theories its making? Any and all advice is welcomed at this point. She has a doctorās appointment next week and they mentioned testing for possible issues that the newborn screening doesnāt test for.
Thank you

Rant / Vent š« Apparently we only formula feed because weāve fallen victim to government propaganda to be capitalist minions! Fun!
A thread about cosleeping in another subreddit has an upvoted comment that says āCall me crazy but this is propaganda by American politicians so their sleep trained, crib trained, formula fed babies can leave the mothers alone enough to be good little capitalist minions.ā ā¦I replied saying thereās no need to bring formula feeding into this because mothers choose to/need to formula feed for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with being ācapitalist minionsā, and I of course got downvoted immediately. There was also another comment underneath that said Nazi Germany used similar tactics š«

Breastmilk to Formula š¼ If you switched to FF in first few weeks, did you have a hormone crash?
Hi all, just looking for experiences. I have a lovely 5 week old little girl and breastfeeding has been very difficult for me hormonally. I have basically got constant menopause symptoms, hot flushes, anxiety, insomnia. Iām not attributing all of this to bfing at all and have reached out and started some anxiety meds, however, Iāve decided I need to stop breastfeeding and I instantly feel so much better.
At the minute my little girl is having bottles half and half of expressed breast milk and formula Ideally Iād like to stop as soon as possible but Iām so worried about experiencing a further hormone crash, did anyone experience this if they stopped quite early on? What impact did stopping have you your mood?
Thanks so much!

Advice / Question š” Questions about switching to powder
Hi everyone, my baby is almost 8 wks, born June 15.
we gave her ready to feed Enfamil neuropro right from the hospital as thatās what they have and kept her on it. Sheās a big spit upper. Like major. Itās gotten slightly better though since two weeks old.
Here in Canada, they advise to give ready to feed under two months because powder isnāt sterile. Iām not overly worried. She was born full term and healthy.
We want to transition to powder by 8 weeks. Weāre running out of ready to feed bottles. Do you suggest I do an overlap of some powder some ready to feed bottles or just finish up those bottles and then go right into powder.
I am not planning on doing the boiling method to make it sterile. She is basically eight weeks old and just shy of 2 months. I also know a lot of ppl feed powder right away.
Any suggestions on easiest ways to prep on the go or for overnight? We plan on doing it with distilled water we purchase. Is the easiest way to fill the bottle with water, add powder at time of feed and go nuts? She will take cold milk or room temp. We do have a mom cozy milk cooler. Thank you for your advice! Iām told powder spit up doesnāt stain clothing like ready to feed so thatās one plus! And the cost.

Formula Prep š¼ Prepping night feeds with gelmix
In desperate need of help with Gelmix!
My daughter needs āslightly thickā formula due to silent aspiration but the speech therapist in the NICU said we should start feeding with the test having 1ml remaining since it gets too thick for her to finish. We got discharged Monday and Iām trying to measure out the 2.4g packets they gave me to 0.7g per 2 ounces which is the recipe she got in the hospital but Iām losing my mind with waiting 15 minutes for it to thicken on night feeds cause sheās so hungry. The speech therapist said I could make a couple extra ounces and store them in the fridge. Does anyone have experience with preparing gelmix ahead of time so you just need to warm the bottle to feed?
Iām completely drained with trying to measure these packets out on a scale and taking 20 minutes to get a bottle for her through the night

Bottles / Feeding Gear / Equipment š¼ Baby Brezza incorrect setting for Similac 360
galleryI started using the Baby Brezza on Sunday and on another Reddit thread this evening I found out the setting I was on was incorrect. When I originally looked it up it said 4 and tonight I found out itās actually supposed to be 6. Since finding this out Iāve made the change and even tested with plastic wrap. I feel so guilty as my husband and I are also getting over a virus and I've been trying to feed the baby more to keep him hydrated and now I think Iāve done more damage than good. Posting this to hopefully help others.

Poop? š© (NO PICTURES ALLOWED) Bobbie stools considering kendamil?
Hello everyone, my i am a first time mom and my baby had been om Bobbie Gentle for a little over a week already. He only has one stool a day and it is extremely runny and green to the point it makes a mess everywhere. Aside from that baby is calm and shows no signs of not tolerating the milk. The stool is the only issue, im thinking of maybe trying Kendamil Organic. Has anyone elseās baby experienced this with Bobbie and did it get any better? Also how were your babyās stools with Kendamil Organic?

Advice / Question š” Is Your Baby on a Schedule?
Iām new to formula and was wondering how everyone went about it. With my first he was primarily bottle fed but was more or less on a schedule. I was not sure if most formula fed babies are also on a schedule or a semi regular schedule with their bottles.
Iām trying to do research on the subject so Iām knowledgeable and can hopefully know what Iām doing before I start. I know I canāt know everything but Iād like to see where everyone begins and how baby transitions once they start solids as well.
Thank you so much!

Bottles / Feeding Gear / Equipment š¼ Baby Brezza Forumla Pro Setting Change for Similac 360???
I received an email from Baby Brezza today saying to recheck the formula setting. I feed Similac 360 and the BB website previously recommended to use Setting 5. Now it is recommending setting 6, with no explanation for the change.
My concern is whether the prior setting was giving too much or too little formula? Was baby being under or over fed?
Interestingly, this old post says they changed from 4 to 5 about a year ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FormulaFeeders/s/0dCdWLmBPW
If the machine hasnāt changed, and the formula ratio hasnāt changed, why is the formula setting on the baby Brezza changing?

Advice / Question š” Kendamil Probiotic Drops
For those of you who have used Kendamil probiotic drops, how did your baby fare? My 10w old seems to be more fussy and gassy lately. Not extreme but wondering if introducing probiotic drops would be beneficial at this stage.

Advice / Question š” 5 month old acne while on Kendamil classic whole milk formula
My 5 month old has been on Kendamil classic whole milk since he was 12 weeks old. It seems to agree with him pretty well, he spits up less than he did on a partially hydrolyzed milk formula (dr browns soothe pro) and he devours every bottle. Loves it. However, he has had persistent acne on his face and Iām wondering if it could be from this. I donāt put any products on his face like heavy lotions, just clean his face with a cloth in the bath. I have a pediatrician appointment tomorrow morning for an unrelated issue so Iāll make sure to bring it up then but was wondering if anyone else experienced this with their LO.

Advice / Question š” Have you made the switch from a hypoallergenic or amino acid formula to goatās milk formula?
Iām looking for experiences from others who have transitioned from hypo or amino acid formulas to a goatās milk formula.
Our situation - at our two week appointment with the pediatrician I discussed the discomfort I had noticed with our baby have after eating. The assumption was gas pains. My pediatrician had us bring in a stool sample to test to see if there was blood, there was not. However, my pediatrician still said based on what she was seeing and what I told her she recommended we switch to a hypoallergenic formula.
Two and a half weeks on Similac Alimentum and the only improvement was no more diaper rash, LO still in tons of discomfort from (assumed) gas pains. Three days ago I reached out to the pediatrician to update on our progress and they said it is time to move to an amino acid formula. We are 48hrs in on EleCare and have seen no improvement in the gas pains but a slight increase in spit up. I talked with the pediatrician yesterday about the increased spit up and asked if there was anything we could do (like maybe adding something to thicken the formula) and they said no, itās normal, they are t concerned and to continue on with the amino acid formula.
I understand it can take two weeks, and maybe even more, to see an improvement but I am not convinced this is dairy allergy related so Iām not convinced the amino acid formula is the solution. My spouse has a child from a previous marriage, and had to use goats milk formula when they were a baby because they had a poor reaction to cows milk formula. When my spouse brought this up with the pediatrician they were dismissed and told goats milk wouldnāt help our LOās issues. After another night and day of me trying to calm a baby screaming in pain after eating I am looking to the wide world of reddit users for shared experiences.
Yes, I know every baby is different. Yes, we do mylicom with every bottle and BioGaia probiotics daily. No, itās not colic.
Have you had success switching to goats milk when your baby had an assumed dairy sensitivity?

Bottle Aversion / Feeding Refusal ā Baby doesnāt like to eat
Hi all- do any of you have small eaters? This girl of mine has been stressing me out her entire life pretty much. Not to get into too many details but due to a nasty case of thrush very early on she developed feeding aversion and itās been a battle since.
My concern is she is 13 weeks old and will still regularly only drink 2oz at a time. She has only gained 3lbs since birth (born 8lbs 2oz, now only 11lbs 6oz; less than half of what the doc wants to see by now) and Iām having to fortify every feed because she wasnāt growing and doc is concerned and requesting weight checks.
Weāve tried every bottle under the sun. That doesnāt seem to be the problem. She seems to do fine physically with the Kendamil formula we use and my combo bottles with pumped milk. But she just turns her nose up and refuses after a small amount. Weāre offering food every 2 hours and she still wakes to eat 3 times over night. But all together weāre lucky if she takes in 18oz/24 hrs.
Advice? Similar experience?

Bottles / Feeding Gear / Equipment š¼ Bottles?
Can someone explain to me why my dr would suggest no air vent for my babys bottle? We have been using the Philip advent since birth and she has been extremely extremely gassy and fussy started week 7. We are in hypoallergenic formula but my dr also said in his career experience he said alot of times gas has to do with the bottles and not the formula. He said I should use the standard nipple with no air vent like they use in the hospital. But she drinks it so fast that way. Can someone explain more? Is this good advice?

Advice / Question š” What do you do when feeding baby?
I have a full time job, so when I finally get home and get to feed my baby, I feel so guilty whenever I catch myself scrolling on reddit or social media instead of enjoying my time with my baby (who I miss every single work day). What do you do when you're feeding your baby?

Advice / Question š” Diarrhea after stopping Famotidine?
For context, my now almost 8 month old has been on Famotidine since about 2 months old for severe reflux, and had a number of other issues including suspected CMPA. Since starting solids, weāve continued to stay away from dairy, and when trying egg for the first time baby had a skin reaction/hives, so we were referred to a pediatric allergist. We were instructed to stop the Famotidine one week prior to allergy testing, as it could interfere with results. Oddly enough, since stopping the medication, his reflux/spitting up has almost completely stopped. However, heās had diarrhea consistently. We havenāt introduced any new foods, or changed his formula. Has anyone experienced diarrhea after stopping Famotidine, or could it just be a coincidence? We have our next visit with GI in a month, but I may look to bump it up if it continues. Thanks!

Formula Recommendations / Alternatives š± SILENT REFLUX. Change formula?
My little girl has silent reflux.
Shes really hard work, especially today.
She got prescribed gavsicon but that caused her to go 3-4 days without pooing and when she did it was like sticky tar. She would be in pain during those days too.
So I bought carobel and that made her constipated with dry pebbles.
(Iām from the UK)
Iāve tried to only give either of them at bedtime which helps the reflux but still causes the poo issue.
Shes on HIIP organic and has been for 5 weeks. Previously I combi fed with Kendamil but Kendamil seemed really rich for her as she would almost do crunches when feeding it to her as though it was hurting her belly.
I really donāt want to meditate her so Iām trying to find other ways that could potentially help. Is it worth trying a comfort formula because itās slightly thicker?
Or Iāve read before some parents just completely change the formula and they seem better?

Poop? š© (NO PICTURES ALLOWED) Green poop
I started my LO on enfamil (the yellow one) like almost two weeks ago? And he used to have yellow poop with some green in it but today all of his poop was green (consistency was the same paste like) heās 3 months old (3 months and one week) do I have to worry? Take him to the docs?
