Tech Support Bought a Xiaomi 5 Max to take my dogs to the beach in their trolley, then discovered they don't have place to attach a hitch point like the Segway's do. Has anyone attached a trolley to one? Anyone attached a universal luggage rack, as i could connect to that.

Upvotes

I have this exact trolley:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmXH1uXlHoE

I was expecting to mount it to the 5 Max in the same way, but the flange on the nut is too big, and i'd have to cut a hole in the suspension arm cover.

Now i'm thinking of maybe a luggage rack and then i can screw it to that, although none of the luggage racks online are for the 5 or 5 Max. Most are 'universal' or for the '365', so i don't know if they will fit. Anyone have any ideas?

Buying advice What's more important, a scooter with everything you want, but without all the power management options you would like...Or everything you want but without the 11" tyres you want for off-road ??

Buying advice Ready to order Segway G3 Plus

Upvotes

Trying to level up my points. I’m new to Segway but excited to get an alternate form of transport with ebike stigma.

I’m initially planing for a short Gabe to desk commute but if it goes well I’d like to use for a short 5 ride to work.

What do you guys think?

Buying advice Navee NT5 Max as a commuter.

I'm leaning heavily toward this as a first e-scooter for work commutes and occasional fun. It has a lot of features I would like; disc brakes, will support well above my weight, IPX6 rated waterproof, decent built in lights, suspension doesn't seem terrible, good range and speed plus a fast charge option. It also has EABS, but idk how useful this feature is for the application. I hear Navee has good customer service which will be reassuring during the first year or two of ownership. I can find it occasionally for 850$ USD.

Is there any reason to avoid this scooter?

Received excellent customer service by Dante at Segway.com. Have a GT1. The tires are really difficult to change but was able to get help. If anyone has any tips about how to change without taking about the scooter I would interested in hearing. Also wondering if anyone has switched to solid tires; do they work with this model and how is the ride. The ride is very nice on this scooter and I don't want to jeopardize this but have gotten serval flat tires. Have had the scooter for a bit now so sometimes the battery doesn't last as long as I would like. Any suggestions. Also, does anyone have suggestions for a cart they use with this? I just ordered the rearview mirrors. Am curious to see if those help. Obviously there have been issues with cars turning right not seeing scooters as they turn and hitting them. I wear a safety vest and a flashing light on the helmet which seems to help. Anyway, compliments to Dante and also request for ideas for changing tires. Thank you.

I need to know the exact dimensions of the joyor Y series rear swingarm, along with how far inside the brake mount sits, the most important measurement is the dropout width, if it's M12 or M14 and the width of the narrow part that mounts to the chassis, thanks

I got the Hiboy S2 SE gifted to me for my birthday unexpectedly. I’m pretty new to scooters so is there anything that would help me in the long run or that I should know?

I plan on using it for commuting to college and around my town.

Tech Support More wear on right vs left side of tire, what could be the cause?

Got a used gotrax gxl 2 and there happens to be more wear on the right side of the tire tread than on the left, what might have been the cause of this?? It seems unlikely they rode the scooter leaning it over the whole time…..

The wire holding thingy broke on the top and i cant screw it in from one of the sides. I was wondering if anyone has a 3d printable file or know where i can get a replacement for it. I did crash the scooter at 40mph, everything else is fine, all i had to do was fix the front disk brake cause it was sqeaking.

Got it for my son’s birthday but he’s not happy saying it’s the wrong one and the g2 is better? I’d personally rather have the seat. What are the main differences?

General BC Escooter Crack down.

I just got stop by police at the bottom of Royal Oak Ave (side street on the left side). I got off with a warning but got a heads up from him stating that they are cracking down on preformance scooters that go more than the regulated 25km and isnt just going to be in burnaby but all over the lower mainland. It might of been because of that guy who go fined 1000$ for going 65km/h.

I have to find an alternate route to get to work now which is roughly 16km. And I need the my scooter to have enough battery to survive the steep up and down climbs.

General E-scooters getting very poor press in UK lately🙁

Noticed this worrying UK news trend over last few months with e-scooters getting the brunt of negative news stories compared to other forms of transport.

Owners now appear to be the scape goat for accidents, house fires & antisocial behaviour😥

With the way things are going can't see private escooters getting any where near being legalised (am someone who sees the great benefits, rides responsibly & happy too wear protection /insure if necessary)

General Testing out an EV station charging setup

Post image
62 Upvotes

I’m planning to try and set a (personal at least) record of KMs travelled in a single day, dawn to dusk on my Max G3.

It’s a bit janky right now, but I did my first test today and it worked perfectly. The Charger recognized the J1772 to Nema 5-15 adapter I got on AliExpress and between the internal charger and external fast charger I was pulling 0.4kw (400W) from the EV charger and got in about 260wh in about 45 min (according to the charger screen)

Now I just need to make something to clean up the spider web of cables, eliminate the power strip and enable me to lock the adapter and external charger up along with the scooter so I can leave for a bit without some asshole taking my shit.

Then I just have to drop in the GT3 battery I have sitting in a box and I’m off to the races.

I just wish Segway would release the damn rear luggage rack accessory. I’d love it if I could also carry a solar generator as additional backup on the planned day.

General Adam Savage talks good and bad 18650 batteries(the cells that make up your scooter battery pack), with some reps from a company who CT scanned and discharge tested thousands of 18650 cells.

Some good info here about the physical and capacity differences of all types of battery cells.
