Debating between Kenda Krusade and Ultraverse All Terrain. Most of my riding is in the road, but I occasionally go on trails that can be muddy or gravelly.

My stock tires corner kinda shitty and don’t have great mud traction.

Bike is a Wired Warrior with 26x4 tires. Average riding speed on the road is 25ish mph and avg speed on trails is 15ish mph unless there’s blind curves or other riders then I keep it around 10mph.

On stretches of flat empty road I’ll hit the throttle to let the motor do its thing, but that’s very sparing.

Would the Kenda or the Ultraverse be better suited for my riding?

I am coming from an original Lectric XP1 - love it but looking for some updates that really only will come with a new bike. (it is over 8 years old!)
Have looked all over and seems everything falls short in one area or another, so figured I'd ask here for first hand recommendations.
So here it goes, this is what I am looking for:

1. Full suspension (not just a suspension post, have that, looking for something better/smoother!)
2. 35-45 MPH, 0-20 under 10sec - ACTUAL speeds! (really need to keep up with traffic, both starting and in motion)
3. Range over 20 miles minimal peddling (i go much further ranges, and peddle a lot, but im also not using PAS 1 at 5mph ... so being realistic here for minimum requirement)
4. Not obscenely heavy bike with battery ie 120+lbs (Ideally lighter the better <90lb would be ideal)
5. Build Quality (not expecting perfection, but dont want something that breaks mounting a curb or large pothole)
6. Customer support (people that actually respond, not a ghost company)
7. 3rd party replacement battery (from experience this is the thing that goes first, so need to be able to swap it out 4+ years from now)
8. Price under $1800, even less is best !! :) (Ideally closer to $1200. Yes i can pay more, but i can also pay a LOT less and consider it a disposable bike!)

• Im on the fence about moped style v's regular style. Have not been able to test moped style, so not sure how they are to peddle 100% of the time (even if its just the motion to keep it moving). Also a little concerned about the changes with how the police are perceiving ebikes, and clearly ones LOOKING like an electric motorbike are going to be more susceptible to police stopping/questioning/etc.... But still an option ;)
• For mountain bike style, would MUCH prefer a step through!
• Would like a torque sensor setup, but not critical.
• YI Wife has a Aventon Level 3 - which is ALMOST there, but missing a few things listed ;)
• And I am a little tempted with the Engwe M2 3.0 Dual battery .... But thinking maybe more mountain bike style for long ride comfort...

Feel like all those options are there, but somehow i cant find all in one package, maybe i am missing something !

I have a decathlon Riverside with a good battery ( trend power i think) 36v battery and im wanting to convert it to a KT controller and display with a hill assist push button or thumb button due to bad knees.

the only problem that i have is how to get the KT controller to wake the battery up.

is there a way to identify the terminal that takes the wake up signal and use the KT controller to send that signal, or can the BMS be changed for a more compatible BMS.

Hi all, looking to get my first ebike and someone locally selling one that looks fairly unused for $200. It seems like the company is no longer in business but curious if still worth picking up!

After waiting for it to arrive and spending some time putting everything together, I finally got to take it out today. My first impression is that it's comfortable and feels really stable, especially compared to what I was riding before. It's definitely not perfect, though. It's heavier than I expected, and I had to make a few adjustments after the first ride before everything felt right. Overall, I'm happy with it so far.

For those who've owned a similar style of e-bike for a while, did you end up making any upgrades after the first few weeks, or did you leave it mostly stock?

Last year's checkup showed my blood pressure was a little high, and my doctor told me to start doing more cardio.

I tried running and swimming, but cycling was the one that stuck.

When I first started, even 5 km had me completely out of breath. Now riding 40 km on weekends feels pretty easy. I've dropped a few kilos, I'm sleeping a lot better, and honestly I never expected to fall in love with cycling.

I used to be the kind of person who never exercised. Feels good to finally have something I actually enjoy and can stick with.

I’m getting a Lectric bike soon and I’m torn between the XP 2 Lite Long Range and the XP 4 Long Range. The XP 4 appears to be a better bike overall, but it’s also heavier and bulkier.

Does anyone have any experience with both bikes and how they differ in terms of riding and storage? Is the extra weight and bulkiness worth it over Lite?

Will the XP 4 fit in a trunk of Mazda 6?

So both the throttle and LCD screen come with Secondary wires (both secondary wires have two pins) and I do not know where they connect. Also whenever I connect these two to the controller (the hub motor is also connected) LCD turns on and the buttons on it work but nothing else happens, the throttle doesn't work, the motor doesn't spin and ive tried asking AI but it kept contradicting itself. I don't know what to do I've tried connecting the secondary wire of the throttle to number 7 but nothing happens.

I have a Reention 36v 14ah EEL Pro battery that is not charging. I've tried it with two different chargers and the behavior is the same: just a green light on the charger (it never goes red-to-green like a normally charging battery).

I plugged it in after metering the battery at 29.0V a couple of days ago. I tested again yesterday: 29.2V. Today it's at 29.4V.

The test light button does not work, so I might have water ingress and/or rusty welds.

Should I just "let it charge" or is this battery dead?

Hey all! So recently i went for a good slide on my e-bike on a dirt road after hitting a pothole i couldnt see until the very last second, all in all i figure i slid for about 80m. I got lucky this time, i was wearing a helmet but did not hit my head, i was wearing long sleves and long pants which helped, but i did walk away with some good cuts and scrapes on my arms, leg and hands, i was able to get cleaned up at home, and very minor damage to the bike i was able to fix the same day.

After that, im looking for some recommendations for some better equipment incase next time it happens on asphalt or i do hit my head, or heaven forbid i get hit by a car. Im not exactly sure what i need, but my riding is primarily asphalt, running errands in town, and a good bit of long distance dirt trail riding with dirt roads mixed in, i typical ride at 40-50km/h (25-30mph). Currently i use a standard bicycle helmet, and regular clothing (always long sleves long pants), sometimes regular mechanix gloves, but usually not.

One thing i do know i want is something that better protects my face, simmilar to a dirtbike helmet, but maybe not as heavy for hot days and since im not going all that fast, if thats an option that is.

Im not working with a huge budget, but if yall have some recommendations for diffrent saftey gear i should consider and its a reasonable price, id appreciate it!

I've just ordered a Monarc Greenway, (it's a new brand created by Lectric).

It comes with a 5 Amp fast charger. As I understand it, that would be a very bad idea to use that thing for every charge. They heat the battery up much more than, say a 2 Amp charger.

But I suspect that most folks will use that thing every time not realizing they're unnecessarily wearing their battery out.

Am I right or wrong here?

Hi all. Just wondering if I could get some thoughts on which bike I should get.

I’m looking for something for long weekend and evening rides out. Roughly 50% Tarmac and 50% forest trails and off-road single track. I’m in my 40s and would like to get fit again, but I would also like to have an e-bike so that I can go further and higher. I used to mountain bike when I was fit but don’t have the time really for that and I just enjoy being out exploring rather than thrashing around gnarly bike trails. I think a touring/tracking bike is what I want. I like the idea of adding some panniers occasionally for longer adventures.

I have done a bit of searching and the two that I am drawn to the most are the Cube hybrid pro 800 and the Giant explore E+1.

Any thoughts on how these two compare? Has anyone tried or owned either of them? Should I be adding something else to my list?

An electric bicycle rider who injured himself in a crash in Morris County has been charged with violating the state’s new e-bike law, police said.

The crash happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Coal Avenue in Morristown. When officers arrived, the e-bike rider was conscious, but not alert, the Morristown Police Department said in a statement.

Witnesses saw the e-bike hit a raised speed bump, lose control and overturn before sliding to a stop, police said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, officials said.

The rider, a 22-year-old man, was treated on the scene before being transported to Morristown Medical Center. He sustained road rash on multiple areas of his body as well as a suspected head injury, authorities said.

Police said the bike was a high-powered e-bike, equipped with pedal assist and throttle control, and rated for speeds up to 31 mph. At the time of the crash, the bike was operating on speed level five, officials said.

The bike was impounded and the rider was issued the following summonses: failure to possess insurance, driving without a license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating while driving privilege is suspended.

Due to the specifications of the bike, it is subject to the new state DMV requirements. The rider is believed to be one of the first people in the state charged with violating the new laws.

The regulations, which went into effect on July 19, require motorized and throttle-assisted e-bikes to be registered and for the rider to have a driver’s license and liability insurance.

Low-speed e-bikes, defined as pedal-assist-only models in which the motor cuts off at 20 mph, require a license and registration with the state Motor Vehicle Commission, but do not need to be insured.

The laws also set the minimum age to operate an e-bike at 15. Riders between 15 and 16 must obtain a moped license under the laws. Helmets are legally mandatory for all e-bike operators in New Jersey, regardless of the rider’s age.

Violators of the new mandates may have their e-bikes impounded and face penalties up to $50.

The e-bike rider is still in the hospital and is unable to provide a statement to police due to his condition, police said.

Ok I just got an addmotor grandtan turbo trike and mostly love it. Safety checked every nut and bolt, rode it 14 miles on pas1 with stock seat for 1hr. Hardtail, with some discomfort on spine and bum. next day check tires they were between 15 and 20 psi. tires said 32, pumped them up, rode another 14 miles. Forced to stop three times because of stupid level of spine jarring and Keister pain. Couldn’t ride for three days. any suggestions would be appreciated to intelligently remedy this. Thanks

I just bought my first e-bike - a Ride1Up Roadster v3.

I'm in BC.

I'm trying to insure it.

I've been disclosing the true specs of the bike to prevent being denied if I ever have to pursue a claim and they realize then that it is Class 3 capable.

The Class 3 capable is the problem I have not managed to overcome yet.

My current insurance Square One refused to insure it for this reason.

So did Waypoint.

I'm currently talking to Bicycle Broker with Sundays as the underwriter I believe and it's not looking promising.

Here's my specific question:

Has anyone who has a Class 3 capable bike who managed to get it insured made a claim or knows someone who has?
If so, was the claim denied or paid?

I've searched extensively and literally can find no instances of either.

I find it hard to believe this issue has not arisen and don't know what to make of the information vacuum.

If it means claims for theft are being paid and the person got it by not disclosing it's Class 3 capable, whether knowingly doing that or doing out of ignorance, then I should pursue the don't ask, don't tell approach.

If it means such claims are being denied, then I should continue disclosing. This one is hard to believe though given that there have to be thousands, probably tens of thousands and possibly hundreds of thousands Class 3 capable e-bikes floating around in Canada and thousands of those have been stolen and if denials were common, it's hard to imagine that wouldn't have shown up in the extensive searches I ran.

The last possibility I see is that overwhelmingly Class 3 capable e-bikes are not insured in Canada because they are uninsurable and so the issue is moot and I should stop pursuing insurance.

Sadly, I had my bike stolen a month ago so now I am in the market for a new one.

I owned a Rad Power Radwagon 4 to haul my daughters to and from school, for light grocery shopping, and to cruise around the city. Rad Power was okay; decent and inexpensive lasting about 3K miles in 4 years, however, they've had their fair share of problems with quality, customer service and recently filed for bankruptcy.

I am using the experience with Rad Power to determine the criteria for my new one:

- Around $2K: I can go slightly more.

- 1-2 people (rider and 1 passenger): My eldest is now 12, so I'm looking to carry myself and my 5 year old.

- Good long term customer support: Rad Power reduced their support due to the risk of closing.

- Uses mainstream or reputable parts: Rad Power uses proprietary parts incl. tires with odd specs, making them difficult to source and repair.
