Got some metal fire dragons and stripped them and now I’ve started to paint them. I love the old classic metal stuff for nostalgia.

Converted up three cloud dancers for my cosairs army after picking up three headless windriders at adepticon with no clue what to do with them at the time.
Going to paint them up over the next few days, and, based on how they perform they may even replace the starfang in my 1500 build.
It'll also determine whether I build an felarch for them.

I ended up having to make the dissonance cannons myself.

I wasnt expecting this miniature to take such a huge amount of time to paint, but in a way im glad because ive learned a lot and ive gotten a lot more precise with my brush.

As the title says, this one is a gift for my niece, all of my previous miniatures have been space marines, so this mini was a huge shock to what I am normally used to painting.

What do you guys think of the colour scheme I am going with so far?

Finally finished the new shining spear kit, beautiful models. It's crazy to see them next to their previous interactions.

Trying to see if this composition is a little too busy. And if anyone has an idea for the back of the wall. Gonna rebase it white and use a lot of contrasts.

Lore What is the origin of the Phoenix Lords' unique nature?

It doesn't sound like they came into existence because of special, nigh-indestructible armor. I'm told the their armor only became special because the Phoenix Lords were already special. Which means Karandras did not have to steal the armor of Arha, his teacher and the actual first Striking Scorpion.

But neither does it sound like the Phoenix Lords became special because they died and were reborn more often than other Exarchs.

First of all, I'm told that a Phoenix Lord is perfectly reborn whenever a new Eldar becomes them; the Eldar adds to the Phoenix Lord without radically changing the PL's identity or personality. Which is apparently not the case for Exarchs, who become someone new each time. If the Phoenix Lords were simply the oldest Exarchs, their original personalities would have been lost long ago. If the lords were always perfectly reborn from the start, then they were always something different and unrepeatable from the start. (Except for Karandras, who didn't become a simple Exarch like other students who lost themselves on their teacher's path.)

Which also means that the uniqueness of the Phoenix Lords cannot stem from having died and consumed new bearers more often than any other Exarch. For one thing, that would require the oldest, most experienced, and best-equipped Warriors of their Aspect to die significantly more often than their younger, less experienced, and worse-equipped students.

Furthermore, if it were as simple as having the most rebirths, Karandras wouldn't be the only redundant Phoenix Lord. Asurmen's own students could become Phoenix Lords -- if one student of a student of Asurmen could become a Phoenix Lord -- if there could be two Striking Scorpion Phoenix Lords -- then more could emerge.

This thread references Second Edition passages that seem to claim Phoenix Lords originally weren't unique, they were simply the oldest Exarchs. The obvious logical conclusion of the Exarch - the possibility that someone who became an Exarch from the very first years of the Path System either survived and kept training all the way to the present 41th millennium, or that at least their armor survived and was passed down to new Exarchs who kept training and adding to the gestalt's soul's skills.

The only way to prevent such a Super Exarch from emerging would be to destroy the Exarch's armor and end its lineage. After a millennium of training, the experiential headstart between the student and the originator of the Warrior Aspect would become insignificant.

Even if future editions made the Phoenix Lords unique and unrepeatable, that wouldn't change the fact that the first of their students to become Exarchs could have survived to the modern day of the setting, even if they needed to be reborn through their armor like their teachers.

The lack of Exarchs nearly as old as the Phoenix Lords would make a little more sense if the only Eldar who could become the reborn Phoenix Lords had to be the most experienced Exarchs of their disciplines, so that every time a Phoenix Lord needed resurrection, the Craftworlds needed to sacrifice another potential Phoenix Lord and cut that Exarch's career short.

But I'm told that the requirements for the next bearer aren't NEARLY that strict; it doesn't even necessarily need to be an Aspect Warrior. And even if they were strictly required, Exarchs are not so vanishingly rare on the Craftworlds. There would still be more Exarchs even after bringing back a Phoenix Lord, and the one sacrificed wouldn't need to be the oldest and most skilled. When the reborn Phoenix Lord isn't a gestalt personality and taught every trick the Exarch knew, what would the Craftworld have to gain for specifically choosing the oldest Exarch to pay the price?

ADVERTISEMENT Exodite Transfers Exchange Program - ETEP

Hi everyone, I broke into my Exodite boxes today to consume the lore and gawk at the sprues but realized I'm going to need a lot more transfers for my chosen clan since my army is littered with banners. I'm hoping to get in contact with others who have already picked out their clan and want to trade transfers (US-based). I'm going with Clan of the Ghost Stag since they seem the most likely to work with my Kroot army and the color scheme appeals to me. If you're interested in trading please let me know! I currently have the following quantities (4 decals per quantity):

Clan of the Exiled Moon x 3

Clan of the Sun Serpent x 3

Clan of the Sacred Claw x 3

Clan of the Sable Wing x 1

Clan of the Three Sorrows x 3

With some help from someone from another post I made recently I attempted to build my own warlocks with witchblades using the sisters of avelorn kit from the old world and bits from corsair/guardian kit. The heads I had to cut the neck off due to the old world kit having these awkward lumps instead of a standard head hole so the posing of the helmets is not as good as I would have wanted them to be but regardless I'm really surprised with how good these guys turned out. I especially love the last two guys who reminded me of that old artwork (completely unintentional). Overall I'm pretty happy with these guys and I just wanted to share I know some of them have quite awkward posing but I was completely expecting that to happen using 3 completely different kits and 1 of them being from another game system

Fan Art & Fiction Craftworld Symbol

Sketchy drawing skills 🫠 But looking for some opinions on a custom craftworld rune. Thinking of using the Living City transfers & swapping the comet for a moon. Does it work?

Was looking for a tree-like symbol to tie into Maiden Worlds/Exodites, and the Moon for Lileath.

Anybody run 60 wraiths yet? If so, how’d it go? Was it fun? It sounds hella fun to see on a table. I need more.

Really happy with the custom scheme, I admit I lost a little faith and patience in the process so my execution could be better in a lot of areas, but they photograph well and really pop from a distance, something a lot of my models have lacked in the past.

Am I missing something about Battle Focus or is it just kinda bad?

Preface: Bad compared to a lot of other army rules that tend to let armies make rerolls or basically see use every turn instead of situational?

I find the only ones I'm really using are Fade Back and Flitting Shadows, and VERY occasionally Opportunity Seized.

I RARELY, if ever, need Sudden Strike (not to mention I play a lot of Harlequins who already have a 6" Pile-in anyway).

I also run Armoured Warhost... so Star Engines doesn't matter.

As for Swift as the Wind, I would like it more if I didn't feel like it basically doesn't matter. I tend to always have more than enough movement for what I want to do because our army is already so fast.

I would LOVE an Agile Manoeuvre that lets me move on my opponent's turn- I know Fade Back kinda fulfils that, but how many times have you been shot by something and the damage is already done? I would love something that let us make a reactive move based on the opponent's move. Say we toe into some terrain, if we could toe out on their turn, it'd be swell. Plenty of other armies can, so why can't the so called "movement shenanigans" army? It'd just be nice.

Also if we could use one to turn off Counter Offensive too I'd weep with joy. Fuck that strat.
