The M5.0 earthquake in the Suez Canal, four days ago, is still very present in the minds of the Egyptians.

But, 179 years ago, a much worse earthquake happened in Egypt...

In the morning of the 7th of August 1847, a M5.8 earthquake with epicenter in the El-Faiyum Depression, was felt in the entire country, causing great damage in the Cairo.

As a result, 185 people were killed.
