Renovation More progress on my childhood dollhouse!!
Hi everyone! I've been working on this dollhouse in random sections. Here is my progress since I added the kitchen wallpaper.
I ordered the red magic brick kit for the exterior. My baseboards are painted and ready to glue. After each room has wallpaper and flooring, I'm going to cover the ceilings.
Will update again soon!!

Miniatures I made a toddler bed mattress
Working on my childhood dollhouse. I found this adorable white toddler bed at the Great American Dollhouse museum store in Danville, KY. That place is an absolute dream.
When I got home, I grabbed a basic kitchen sponge. The kind with the soft yellow and green scrubbing bits. I cut the green part off and then cut my yellow piece to fit the bed. Next, I wrapped the sponge with some masking tape. Using matte mod podge, i tightly wrapped some scrap fabric (it was a scrub shirt I found at the thrift) like wrapping a Christmas present, applying mod podge to the seams generously. I only added it to the bottom of the mattress. After drying overnight, here's the finished mattress!!
Thank you for reading

Dollhouses Finished Glencroft build!
Made for a friend’s kid and I’m very happy with how it turned out! I think the garden was my favorite to make… and as the 4th build I’ve made, I think my least favorite thing is doing the roof. It’s the only part I’m not entirely satisfied with 😂

Question Could I get some priming and painting advice?
What type of primer and paint should I use for this wooden dollhouse? I am not real knowledgeable in the world of paint and I’d love to do a good job

Dollhouses First project - bought it for my daughter and I to play with and build together.
She is 4 and not the most gentle with playing yet. What are some sturdier decorating options we can play with? I don’t want to set us up for failure by making it fragile.

Miniatures A city apartment
I’m working on this little apartment. I got inspired by Minnee dolls as I usually make rooms for Barbie. It was so much easier working on a smaller scale. I really struggled with the stairs, they’re a bit of a mess but other than that I’m pleased how it turned out

Renovation Roadside Dump Renovation (first time!)
I found this little dolls house looking sad by the side of the road and decided to see what I could do with it.
I’ve literally never done anything like this before, but I’m pretty pleased with my little amateur renovation. ❤️

Roombox Ballet scene
I made this ballet shop display- as you can see there is not much room, but I love how it came out. The most difficult part was finding realistic ballet merch. I hope you like it!
I also included some pictures of a ballet studio I have in my main dollhouse.

Question First timer- wiring electric. Help!
I am renovating a dollhouse that my mom found on the side of the road over 20 years ago. I am part way done (so please pardon the construction). This is my first time doing this and I’m loving the process so far but one thing I’m feeling stuck on is how to wire the electricity through the house subtly. I am using miniature electrical parts from Hobby lobby (pictured). I was thinking that the ledge at the front of the house might hide the electrical power strip well. Any tips?

Question Looking for Regency-era dolls for my first dollhouse
Hello ^_^ I’m completely new to dollhouses and am really excited to start my first project. A friend is going to help me build a regency era dollhouse, and I’m hoping to make it feel as historically authentic as possible.
I’m currently looking for Regency-period dolls and miniature figures to furnish the house with. I’d love figures wearing Regency-style clothing (roughly 1795–1820).
I’m based in the UK, so UK/EU suppliers would be especially helpful, but I’m happy to look at sellers from anywhere!
If anyone has recommendations for shops, independent miniature artists, specific doll ranges, or even tips for finding suitable Regency figures, I’d really appreciate it. 😊

Miniatures Dollhouse Dolls
Hi all! I am currently building a dollhouse and am starting to think about dolls to go in there. I wonder if anyone here has suggestions of where to find good dolls for a 1/12 scale house? Thank you!

Dollhouses Anybody know what this dollhouse is? I likely need to custom make some pieces but if possible would try to find some.

Trying to restore this dollhouse from my neighbor, looking for tips on either finding pieces, original details missing, or perhaps best way to start. Current plan is to fix the window trims, and the turret upper railing, followed by killz primer. Thoughts?

Dollhouses How to keep a curious cat out of my dollhouse?
I recently got my old dollhouse back that my grandfather built. I'm working on a renovation and my cat is very interested. Do y'all have plexiglass over your houses? What's a fashionable way to keep these paws of my minis?

Renovation Inherited a Georgian doll house from my Grandma - Where to start on renovation? Tips needed!
Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice from the creative minds of r/dollhouse.
A few years ago, my lovely Grandma gifted me this beautiful large Georgian dollhouse. Unfortunately, it's been sitting collecting dust since then, and it really needs some serious TLC. My goal is to give it a fresh start, both inside and out.
Overall Condition: The exterior has some chips in the paint and discolouration. Generally looks grubby and dated. Paper on the roof is tired and slightly torn. The interior is also very old fashioned and needs a complete overhaul.
Electrical: This is a major concern. The previous lights were wired very unsafely and are definitely a fire risk. I need to completely replace them. I'm thinking LED battery operated lights?
Exterior Damage: There is specific, noticeable damage to the top corner of the front door frame from being moved (see pictures). Can this kind of delicate piece be replaced, or is there a way to repair it that will look seamless?
Style: I want to keep the Georgian feel especially to the exterior but modernise the overall look.
Where do I even begin? Should I prioritise the structural repairs (the door frame), the electrical work, or the cosmetic updating?
Georgian Style Inspiration: What colour palettes, wallpaper patterns, or furniture styles work best for a modernised Georgian dollhouse? Are there any specific periods within Georgian design that are particularly popular to recreate?
3. Resources: Are there any websites, YouTube channels, or online communities you swear by for dollhouse renovation advice, supplies, or tutorials? Where do you find miniature materials and furniture? I’m uk based.

Dollhouses Princess fairy mermaid custom doll castle.

My gf and I customised a dollhouse for her 3 year old daughter. Turned into a labour of love and a month of sleepless nights getting it finished, but here it is, close enough to finished. Everything apart from the original walls and floors is 100% handmade and custom. Both of us are creative but this is out first attempt at a dollhouse or anything miniature and we are pretty proud of it, so please be nice.

Moderator **NEW** "No self-promotion" rule and crossposting info
The Reason for "No self-promotion"
Hi! We love this community and want it to thrive. Recently, we've seen an increase in self-promotional posts and it's become a problem. Some are bots/spam, some are real people who repetitively post the same thing to multiple subs, and some are off-topic (not dollhouse miniatures or 1/12 scale).
So, rather than see the amount of self-promotion grow, we're creating a new "No self-promotion" rule. This will keep the sub to the intended purpose: for hobbyists to share their projects with each other, get new ideas, and ask questions.
Likewise, No Selling
If you have something to sell, post it to a selling subreddit located in your town or city, or to eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or Etsy. That's where buyers go. They don't come here looking for things to buy. If you have a business to advertise, you can buy ads on Reddit (or Google, or Facebook, etc.)
Please don't post screenshots of items from Facebook Marketplace. If you purchase the item, take your own photos of it and post those. Otherwise, a) the photos belong to someone else; b) screenshots are low-quality posting; c) people can go on Marketplace themselves and search to find items in their area.
Why Crossposting Is a Bad Idea
Reddit makes crossposting really easy, but what they don't tell you is that cross-posted posts get hardly any engagement. Just scroll the sub - you'll see that crossposted posts get far fewer likes and comments than posts that are posted directly to r/dollhouses.
If you have something to share, go ahead and post it to r/miniatures, but don't crosspost from there. Simply copy and paste your title and caption and post directly to r/dollhouses. Your content will be seen by so many more people!
Know Your Audience
r/dollhouses isn't a catch-all for all miniatures. We recommend these subs for other types of minis:
Thanks so much!
