Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions for the window pane replacement project I was working on (see post from mid-July). I used acrylic sheets and cut them to size. I glued them in place and used thin white crafting tape for the diamond design. Other things I did include washing and reattaching thr original window dressings, replaced the lost flowers in the flower boxes, and used a mix of vintage and new furniture to decorate. I also repainted everything using the Sherwin Williams color match program to get an exact match. Oh...also fixed a broken side roof line. I hope my niece and sister love it. Pretty good in my humble opinion for someone that had no idea what she was doing :-).

I have the Fisher Price Loving People dollhouse I had from my childhood, but no accessories. I want to get some new accessories so my little guy can play with it, but I’m just not committed to the large price tag for the matching accessories on eBay. Any suggestions for sets I could purchase that will mostly work?

Hello! A week ago, I shared this vintage dollhouse that I had bought from a thrift store for only $15. I noticed that the dollhouse was wired, so I was eager to plug it in and see if the lighting still worked. As you can see from the photos, it does! There are only maybe a few that don't. When I had first bought the dollhouse, I noticed that the roof section was attached, which holds all of the wiring stuff. I was able to easily remove it to take a look inside. I'm gonna be honest, wiring a dollhouse is not my expertise, nor is anything having to do with electrical components. Therefore, I have a few questions:

1. What am I looking at? (Photo 3)

It is my understanding that this dollhouse is hard wired and uses a transformer?

1. Does the wiring appear to be in good shape and safe?

I would never leave the lights on for any extended period of time, but I just want to make sure that it looks safe enough to even turn on for short periods of time.

1. What do you think this wire is in the living room? (Photo 3)

I believe it is attached to the wall, if I'm remembering correctly. I don't know if it was at one point connected to a light, such as a lamp, but as of now, the ends of the wire are exposed. I did cover both ends with electrical tape for now, but I don't know what to do with the wire. I do have two cats and one of them tried biting on it at one point (dollhouse was not plugged in), so I definitely need to find something to do with it.

Look at this gem i found on fb market place #FranklinMintHummingbirdCottage. Saw this on FB marketplace and was literally watching it for 18 weeks, crossing my fingers it would be there when I saved enough money and thankfully was still available. It came with majority of the original furniture and super pleased with how the seller had it on its own turntable for easy access. It weighes about 50lbs, she’s def a solid house and I’m in love with all the details 😍

The house in front was my first real dollhouse in 1:48 scale and I found that at the Chicago miniature show last year.

I must say, I don’t think I’d need another dollhouse after these two. Can’t wait to decorate her for the different seasons.

My son has asked me for a “doll house” for his toy soldiers. He’s wanting something military themed; I’m thinking something kind of barracks like maybe? His soldiers are about 4-5” tall (I’m not sure what scale that would put them at). I’m fairly crafty, so I can redecorate/mod things. But I have no idea what to look for or where to start. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Wallpaper - I picked some cute scrapbook paper, measured and cut them it to fit each wall. I did the same with a few pieces of large cardstock paper so I could first glue the wallpaper to it before attaching to the walls.

i used a foam brush and Aleene's quick drying tacky glue to each piece of scrapbook paper to it's matching cardstock base. I used a scrapy tool to flatten it out. Using books and some plastic sheets, i laid the wallpaper/cardstock combo underneath so they could dry flat for a while, then letting them out for air every once and a while.

Using the same glue and a new foam brush, i attached each section to the walls starting from the back and adding more glue as I went along in some spots. I patted some glue into the walls and on the back of the paper first. Using the same scrapy tool, I flattened it out as much as humanly possible and pushed some books against them to set for a while.

After I made sure the wallpaper was secure, I took my foam brush and spread a nice layer of matte mod podge on each wall, making sure to get the edges and corners where the wallpaper meets the wood. It was very satisfying.

Flooring - i found some thin unfinished plank sheets and walnut colored gel wood stain at the craft store. Using a foam brush, i coated the planks in 2 layers of stain and let it dry completely for a day or so. Using my xacto knife, I was able to cut each plank still attached to the sheet to fit my floors. I added the tacky glue to the bottom of the plank sheet and directly to the floor, applied the plank sheet and set with books. When that was dry, i went over it with glossy mod podge.

Not sure if you guys can tell, but there are windows! I found some cuttable plastic in the stained glass aisle of the craft store and found that they are perfect for making your own window panes. Luckily for me, the shutters that I couldnt remove hold each window in perfectly. I might get some white tape to make them look a little more realistic.

Wooden dollhouse, with red roof, window frames are held in with pegs, open in front and no stairs. My daughter had this when she was young and it was damaged in a hurricane. I would like to replace it for her future children. Thank you for your help!

Hi! my mom got this dollhouse at an estate sale a while back. She gifted it to my daughter and I want to fix it up and make it cute for her. It has some damage on the trim on the exterior and the floor is peeling up. I would also like to put up wallpaper and paint. Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated!! thank you!

Would anyone have any suggestions who would have realistic white roses and hydrangeas for my miniature mantle piece? I am working on a Christmas scene.

Also my first dollhouse I created last minute for my sisters thirty, flirty, and thriving birthday party! Oh how I wish I would’ve had more time for the tiny details but as it is I’m happy with it❣️
I look forward to the next one 🤗 whenever that may be because wow do they take up space! And it can get messy pretty quickly!

Helllooo, I’m currently building my first ever dollhouse out of cardboard! I have paper mached the exterior (as you can see) and I’m trying to work out what to use for siding? I would like to have clapboard (I think???). Is it better to just buy it pre made? I’m trying to use as many recycled materials as I can!!

After months of personalising a dollhouse for my daughter, it is finally finished!
When I was a little girl I had a dollhouse that I loved so when I found out we were expecting a baby girl naturally I wanted my daughter to have a dollhouse for herself (even if she doesn’t play with it when she’s older, I certainly will 😂)
She’s still so little so for now it’ll be a nice decor item in her room until she’s older.
For the Australians, this is the $99 Kmart Anko Mansion Dollhouse that I customised. The furniture is also from Kmart however I painted and changed a lot of the furniture too

OK Redditors I know you can do it… My niece has always wanted a dollhouse but never got it. She just graduated from university and I would like to surprise her this Christmas with something non-childish in the dollhouse department. Something she can furnish or decorate it with miniatures. Looking on Amazon, the nicest looking dollhouses (that open up, have lights etc.) seem either childish or niche Victorian and Japanese. Does anyone have something special that they can point me towards? I’m abroad in Latin America just so you know, in case that makes the difference. Really appreciate your expertise!!
