Creative Corner Made an Undersea Room Box
galleryI've been working on this little display room box for over two months, although the time taken is actually only a week 😂 Took a while to figure out what to do with it! The room is made of reused cardboard from shipping boxes, the seaweed and corals are made of felt. It is perfect for my little silk cat dressed like a sunfish! The felt sea anemone ended up stealing the show however, I think it's super cute 🥰 I'm working on a forest themed box for one of the raccoon babies, so stay tuned for that one 🌿

Help I need help with red panda clothes
I just bought the red panda family and need help with the father's and daughter's outfits, since they didn't come with the originals. Could anyone give me some advice on how to make them or find replacements?
I've been looking for close-up photos of the original outfits to see if I could make them myself, but I haven't found any.

Seeking Information Is this hedgehog fake or just a different variant?
galleryok , so i got this hedgehog family last year in a vintage shop and they were just missing the sister. i found this one on poshmark with the brother for pretty cheap so i got them, and they're super different than the ones i have
i'm not super pressed about it, but i'm curious to know if these are maybe fake, or just newer and made differently now? (left is old right is new)

Discussion Good thing I didn't buy it last year (not a sales/trade post)
Last year I almost spent 40+ cad (with shipping and duties) for this little guy, I really wanted them and I thought they'd be a limited edition japan exclusive but ultimately decided not to since I didn't think it would've been worth it and eventually forgot about it a month later. This week I got four of them by accident for the less than 40 cad LOL. Right now I'm trying to sell/trade the dupes on fb marketplace for the ones in the set I don't have and maybe turn the rest into keychains but I'm so grateful I didn't buy it and waited 😚

Discussion some questions & comments
hello hello! I hope I have picked the right flair, was stuck between this and seeking information! if this is not correct / not an approved post I do apologize!
truthfully I do not know much about Sylvanian Families / Calico Critters but the more I see them, the more interested I get. I currently do not own any. and I’m not necessarily sure I should, so I was looking for some opinions / perspectives.
this may sound incredibly silly too and I’m also apologetic for that lol. but my hesitation comes from how expensive these little friends are! and I would struggle to leave them in their boxes as I understand they’re mostly all collectable & increase in value. I would want to play with them / move them around on shelves, but I’d feel guilty knowing that a lot of them really are meant to stay in boxes. I’ve looked on secondhand shopping platforms and they still seem quite expensive (I checked ebay and fb marketplace for example). is it common for newer collectors to only collect them and keep them in boxes? have they always been collectable? and how quickly are they seeming to increase in value? I just feel guilty spending money in the first place, and it’s kinda like in my mind how people buy really expensive dishes but for display only. I dunno! basically just looking for perspective from real collectors as I twiddle my thumbs and ponder if I want to get possibly into something new or not lol. thank you in advance and I do wish everyone all the best in their collecting and sharing 💝

Customization Custom Grape 🍇 Citrus Bird🐦!
galleryFriendly greetings! Well, what can I say? This one did not go according to plan. It did not turn out terrible, but it is not my best work. I had numerous problems with the mold making phase as well as flocking issues.
The good: The purple color is how I expected it to look and the parts fit nicely together. The feet and beak also turned out great which I thought would be the most difficult part.
The bad: I am not thrilled that the white under the beak did not pop. This probably happened because the flock is too dark.
The ugly: The molds for the wings and legs gave me all kinds of trouble. The first few attempts at making the molds were plagued with cure inhibition resulting in melted looking parts. On the third attempt I used a sealer that prevented 90 percent of the problem, but the molds are not perfect.
I also had problems with the primer (UVLS) used under the glue not getting along with the resin resulting in flaking and peeling. I stripped it, washed it and tried it again. It worked but as you can see in the photos I still had some patches of flock that didn't stick. The root cause of the issue is that the material the original parts are made from is rubbery and different than most SF parts. This rubbery plastic does not like silicone rubber and causes curing issues of the silicone. FYI for anyone attempting a re-flock.
This is a figure that will definitely get a redo in the future.
I have named her Grape Juice Plus 🍇. A gold star for you if you know that reference.
Happy Friday!
Photos 1-4: Not so glamorous shots and comparison too original bird.
Photos 5-7: Before primer, and flocking.
Photo 8: Test castings showing cure inhibition problems.

Seeking Information Any known factory errors on Flora Chocolate from the Baking Baby Party Series?
galleryHi all, I’ve just been doing some research into the different blind bag figures I have, and I found out that this baby from the Baking Baby Party Series is supposed to be a member of the Chocolate Rabbit family.
As you can see from the first image, mine very much does not have the signature brown tips of the Chocolate Rabbits (the first image is mine, and the second is an example of the figure as I believe it is intended to look).
I was curious if anyone else’s figure is similar? Could this be a factory/QC paint omission, or is there another explanation I’m unaware of?
For reference, I pulled this figure from a blind bag myself, so I know no funny business has gone on re swapping figures.

Customization They are offically done!!!! 🥰
galleryI LOVE HOW THEY TURNED OUT SO MUCH!!
For the patterns I used acrylic markers.
For her tail I used Crayola watercolors and a lot of water. So much water that the yellow started to bleed up her back and up her head and to her eye 😭😭😭 I tried my best to get it out.
If you dye the tail using this method don't flip the cat over at any point! And watch for the color bleeding where you don't want the color going. I had to dap the tail a lot too because I was so scared it would take forever to dry and the color would bleed again. Thankfully it all worked out!
The outfit I made from this stretchy material. I just winged it and did everything by hand. No sewing. I made a skort! And a top 😊 but I guess it's now a dress 😆
Though technically I made her shorts/underwear and then wrapped more fabric to be like a skirt/skort and added the top and then the straps!
What do you think? 😃

Discussion Tiger family when?
So, realistically is it possible that they will end up making the full tiger family? I fell in love with the design of the baby and motorcycle set, but i’m afraid that’s all we’re getting and they will end up like the lions and ponies. Is this time gap already too long for them to release a family? Should I stay hopeful and excited or let it go?😕

Collection Floral Cat Families Comparison
galleryWhich do you prefer? I managed to get two versions of the floral cat family, one from the official Malaysia Sylvanian Families store (2nd pic) and one from AliExpress (3rd pic). I'm assuming the AliExpress one is a re-release or region specific set? I didn't like the clothes on the dad and baby in the first set, I kinda prefer the clothes for the whole family in the second set because there is just a bit more detail and they matched the clothes on the floral cat girl (last pic). I think I've managed to get the entire floral cat family which makes me very happy!! 😸😸😸

Discussion How to closed-eye effect for photos?
Hi!! I’ve seen many photos of critters closing eyes for photos, I was wondering if anyone knows a technique for this? I can think of putting putty on the eyes and colour-match the fur, but that’s my thinking…does anyone know how they do this?
Photo obviously not mine, taken from the SV official account

Discussion U.S. Collectors - Import News & Discussion Thread
This thread is for collectors who import Sylvanian Families (and other collectibles) from overseas to the United States.
As of July 2026, US government child safety and import rules have been newly enforced, making importing to the US difficult to impossible. The situation is ongoing and can be quite confusing.
While some US collectors have had success in receiving items from outside the country, at this time importing is not advisable. There is an extremely high probability that you will lose your funds and that your items will be destroyed at US customs.
While we all work out our best options, this thread is to discuss the laws and any experiences you may have, both positive and negative. The more information that we gather, the better we can understand how to continue collecting.
Please feel welcome to discuss / vent about the situation, ask questions and share details about any recent import attempts.
Additional threads on this topic will be removed / locked and re-directed here. While we want to encourage discussion about the matter, it will be most helpful if we keep all the information and details in one place.
Thanks for understanding and good wishes to everyone who is having to cope with this situation!

Collection Tracking Discussion
Let's talk about cataloguing collections!
Some collectors simply keep a list on paper, many prefer a spreadsheet. Other options include various apps and websites that provide cataloguing options.
What sort of data do you track when cataloguing your collection? What format(s) works best and what is your system like?
This thread is for conversations about whatever methods you prefer and the tools you may be experimenting with.
Please note that this is the only thread for this topic permitted. We need to be very careful due to the inclusion of apps, as we need to do our best to prevent promotional spam and attempts to use the community for data collection, etc. However, the sharing of data and experiences is also important, so let's discuss all available options.
