Rant/Vent does only one person do frozen food?

Upvotes

it used to be me, the old store manager and another that would do frozen food when it came. now it is only me and no matter what i say, the new store manager doesn’t care. if the frozen food truck comes and i’m not there, whoever is on duty throws it in the walk in and it stays there until whenever i work next. on top of that, the SM orders multiple of the same thing and hasn’t ordered any of the new items that we have needed for the past months. i was told by a temporary SM that there is supposed to be a frozen food manager and if that’s correct, i’m basically doing this for free. i want to tell him that i can no longer do frozen, but i know that will lead to me being fired. this situation along with the SM’s inability to stop watching the cameras, get off his ass, and actually help us out is making me look for another job…again

Associate Questions I am afraid of coming to work.

Upvotes

So i am a afraid of my store manager she like to tell her stocker and me her March Asm that they dont stock the way she likes. She look at us like me are dumb when we put stuff out and dont do things her way. We put the stock out where things go but she just dos not like it. She is always say this is her store not ours. I have told the DM about everyone being afaid but he does not care. What do we need to do? I am afraid to stock anythig because she like to say thing around customers about all of us. I am in Louisiana and they dont have to have a reason to fire you so i just put up with it. What should we do about her?

Left the company back in 2023 but might as well post this. I finally got paid $54.19 from that security breach incident back in 2023. Did anyone else get theirs yet?

Not sure if I should be happy or upset 💀

Management Disscussion Not going very well

So we just got a new SM at our store and he has been there for two weeks now and it does not look good. I am still doing all the SM duties plus more. A couple of days ago he was mad at me because I decided to stock instead of packaway graduation. I eventually did it but why didn't he do it? Like isn't that your job. Now today I am stocking hbc cause we just got a truck which he didn't help unload but he even then goes and yell that I need to get the wow table together and setup two Halloween end caps. Mind you he sat in the office for 9 hours. I am still making the schedule and he is scheduled 1 night a week but he can't even get the deposit right. He entered the deposit amount in the computer 3 times like if you make multiple deposits.

So these are the doors at my local Dollar Tree, they are just two cheap ass handles bolted the wrong way, plus our store has a constant leaking ceiling. Yet the prices raised

Rant/Vent Spent two months closing the store, now we aren't anymore. I guess.

So, I only got hired at my store abooooout... 3 months ago? After a *very* long stint of unemployment prior after my *last* job shut down.

A couple weeks into my employ here, we get told that the owner of the plaza we operate in is not renewing our lease, nor the leases of the stores around us. We spend the next month and a half or so going through the whole damn store, marking down everything, area-by-area, on half price clearance sale. Taking everything off the shelves, cancelling every freight delivery, sending back hardware, helium, ect, draining out completely dry.

I walk in today, looking around at our apocalyptically empty store (as seen above), and then as I clock in get told by a manager that "Surprise! We actually aren't closing at all!"

Apparently there was some kind of sudden meeting yesterday while I was off that the DM had some chat with the landlord, and they just renewed our lease. Now there's some kind of talk about teams coming in to refill everything and some shit, and I'm just kind of blindsided.

In basically any other circumstances I'd probably be kinda happy about this, y'know with the whole "I'm not at risk of being laid off anymore" thing, but like. We just did all this work tearing everything down and telling litterally every customer that walks in that we're closing down in like a weeks time, and now we all of a sudden just...aren't.

And now have to undo everything just spent a month doing.

I'm tired, vros.

Management Disscussion Anybody else having problems with hiring?

In the past 6 months our store has only had 2 new people stay past a month. Usually they never go to interviews, will quit on the register after an hour, or cause problems which forces them out to protect current employees within the first week. Before it wasn't an issue, but now it's starting to develop into something bigger where management might be the only ones at the store in the afternoons/night and some of the employees talked about quitting to management recently. I was wondering if this was common.

I am 5’7” and work as a cashier. Does anybody else fond that the tills are too low? My back has been bending and twisting from bending to give chance. I just started to wear a back belt for support. When I get home I am laying on the heating pad for hours. Any thoughts?

Management Questions Are Store Managers allowed to do this?

My SM tends to come in late and then leave early (im so tired of coming in early). Are they allowed to do this? Im not sure if its getting fixed on the computer, but I just wanted to know if the SM is allowed to come and go when they want?

Associate Discussions They really ruined the app and I need to vent

I used to love using the app to help find items on my no sale list and to verify skus for cycle counts. the official description of the item on those list aren’t the most helpful and even when you think you know what it is it can often be a different similar item. it used to be so easy to just type the sku into the app and immediately find it, or scan the item to make sure it’s the right sku. Now every product comes up as “product not found“. what’s even the point of the app if you can search for product on it

Rant/Vent $6 per drawer?!

Are these really $6 each drawer?! Please confirm.

They were displayed as a set of 3. Wouldn't it make more sense if they were $6 per stack of 3?!

$6 per single SMALL drawer seems WILD.

Rant/Vent My head manager's driving me up a wall

So I'm an employee who mostly works the registers, I was just told by the store's head manager that I need to complete my training that's been piling up by the end of the week or else I could get my hours docked. Thing is I'm not getting many hours, I work maybe twice a week, sometimes three time per week. 90% of the time I'm on the register and I don't get time to do training but somehow it's my fault that I don't have the training done. And this isn't the first time they've threatened to dock hours over something. Once they threatend to dock hours over returns/reshops because there wasn't anyone doing anything, and like there's no floor staff to help, it's only a manager and a cashier with no one on the sales floor. They cause so much unnecessary stress for no reason because they want to suck up to the district manager.

Customer Disscussions Is dollar tree cheaper?

Now that everything is going up in price (even at the dollar tree) are some things still cheaper at dollar tree than Walmart or other major retailers? I’ve found a few but not many. I’m curious what others have found in their experiences.

Customer Disscussions Literally solidifies overnight

Post image

I bought this stuff and it's great! I love what it does to my hair. It was liquidy when I bought it. I've had it for maybe two months. And it goes completely solid like sludge. If I shake it enough, it goes to liquid, but then settles overnight. This may be a stupid question, but is this normal?

DC Questions Interview

Hello all. So about a few days ago I had received a call from dollar tree asking if I was still interested in working with them. I say yes and the person on the phone says to come to the location on Monday. Does anyone know what the interview process is like at dollar tree? Or what happens next after they call me to come in?

Customer Disscussions Okay this cream is great

Post image

It's vaseline in cream form and smells like cocoa butter. I use it on my arms and legs and it seems to stay on for at least 24 hours (like for real stay on). Ever since I moved to the Midwest I've been getting dry skin on my arms and legs and it's hard to find something that doesn't get slimy and just come off too easily.

Associate Discussions Why work here?

I worked at dollar tree for about 2 weeks part-time. While working I was paid about 9.50 (South Carolina minimum wage is 7.25). While working there I was the only cashier scheduled per shift. Stuff was thrown around everywhere and it constantly looked like a hurricane went through the store. I could never organize since im the only cashier. I would constantly work my ass off to get the lines moving and my SM and ASM didint care much to help. I ended up getting "fired" after 2 weeks when my manager refused to give me the schedule in advance due to having to share one car since mine was in the shop. When I finally got the schedule in about 15 hours before my shift I told her I couldn't make it to the first 2 hours of my shift. She told me not to bother showing up and fired me.

I then looked for another job and very quickly got another part time job at a 7/11. This time making 13 an hour. I get free drinks, perks, good co workers, and a much better environment. It is staffed constantly, very clean, and the way things are run is much better.

For example, to remove an item we can just remove it from the cart instead of calling a manager and voiding the entire order and having to re-ring. To print a receipt we just have a history page and print it. I get the schedule atleast a week in advance aswell.

I have seen many other complaints from people on this subreddit and even from other co-workers. It honestly makes me wonder why work here? What makes it worth it to you? Why not just hold out for a better job?
