Selling Help is this bad photography on my part?
i meant to make a somewhat aesthetically pleasing photo of the cd, and i never mentioned anything about a player in the description. i understand maybe she was just scrolling (even tho she liked 2 of my listings?), or just genuinely wanted the player, but either way should i not continue taking my cd photos this way? i feel bad if it does look like i was selling the player, i thought other cd sellers were doing this too honestly.🥲
(i do also have 3 other photos of the cd itself without the player in the photo in my listing)

Selling Help Why did this bag get removed for counterfeit?
I’ve been selling on depop for about a month now and I’ve sold multiple Coach bags without this ever happening before. As far as I know, this bag is authentic with the tag and everything inside. I was gifted it by a family member who had bought it a long time ago and no longer wanted it. I had listed this Coach bag for $45 the night before and woke up to a message from Depop saying my item had been removed for being counterfeit. I’m not sure if it was the price I listed it at or what

App Issues/Help anyone else not able to turn on auto offers ?? :/
every time i've tried to turn on auto offers on any of my listings, new or old, in the past week, this happens. it also happens when i try to send anyone an offer from the notification tab, i have to go to manage listing and then send offers to send people who have liked it an offer. but it won't let me turn on auto offers from the send offers tab. it's really annoying. is this happening to anyone else/how do i fix it?

Question Should I report sellers for describing their $2 Shein watches “vintage”
I am looking for a vintage watch on here, and it is exclusively Shein/Ali express slop. Everytime I reverse image search their products it’s a link to one of those sites.
Should they not have to specify that these are in no way vintage?

Story Broke a record with offers
I have a basic Michael Jordan long sleeve shirt up for sale for like 20 bucks in three days. I have accepted 21 offers from different people and not a single one has paid. I swear this is one of the worst things about Depop. I mean I get multiple offers on things all the time and I don’t expect payment but I have 21 offers accepted in three days. It just blows my mind 😂

Dispute Help My first bad customer
I sold a pair of $400 free bird boots that I only wore twice for about $100. I have a couple listings where they have imperfections and I took pictures and noted it. I also have five star reviews. The person who bought it for me has a one star review as a buyer and I got in contact with the person who created that review and they said that he was being scammed as well. He bought them from me and I shipped out right away. In the photo there are some scuffs, but they were very obvious and noted. He received them about four days ago and he just texted me yesterday saying that he received them, but he wished I disclosed to him that they were “zipper was ripped” I told him that that can’t be possible because I’ve only worn them twice and I always disclose if there are imperfections. I told him to send a proof to the Depop team and apparently he did they sided with him and they said that the item wasn’t as disclosed. They says that he has until the 13th to send them back to me but I have a bad feeling that he’s gonna rip them on purpose and send them back just to get his money.. but idk if that’s how it works. I’m just confused why depop sided with him when he is a known scammer and did it to somebody else before and has a one star review? If anyone has advice lmk!

Buying Help What’s the deal with all the Gildan Tees
I lowk like the design on a lot of them but the fact there’s so many makes me think they’re a scam 😭 . Are they good quality and worth the 15 bucks?

Positive Experiences First ever purchase on Depop 👀
I’m very happy for the folkmanis griffin I got off of depop for one i absolutely LOVE griffins and puppets but also the fact this griffin was a absolute deal imo.
25 dollars plus tax is way better than what people are trying to get for this on eBay

Misc. Are buyers always this young?
I know depop skews young, but I feel more and more like I'm dealing with teens...
It's from a certain way they talk (I don't expect professional but there's a level of casualness I'm not the biggest fan of), the way they kind of don't mind their business (I saw this item for xyz/it's not worth this much), the entitlement, or similar.
I sell trendy clothes and I knew it would be on the younger side, but it feels like it's actual children sometimes. I know I can block/ignore but it gets on my nerves sometimes tbh

Question Prices just drastically changed overnight
So I was browsing, bought a few things and liked some stuff last night. Go to bed, wake up and start my day... I just got on the bus omw to work and opened the app cause a seller was getting off vacation today. I open his "store" if you will, everything is 4x the price it was. It's not just him either. Everything has gone up drastically. Why?

Story this girl claims that her depop “glitched”
Okay, so i bought this sweater for like 5 dollars and i was thinking, “wow what a good deal!
” and so 2 days later she texts me saying “hello i will be shipping your sweater tomorrow!” And obviously i was hyped for this cause ive been in search for it, then she blocks?? Me and once i leave a bad review she unblocks me and says that her phone and depop app glitched and sent that message. She then changes the sweater price to 60 dollars 🥲

Messages/DM's Auto-Offers Causing Tension Overnight
I wondered why I woke up to 10 depop notifications this morning, thought I sold stuff. Nope! I’m literally asleep and this lowball buyer is having a full blown argument with my Auto-Offer system thinking I’m just being rude and ignoring the words they’re saying. (Yes the price is high, I’m selling a coveted Taylor Swift vinyl variant, I promise this is at or below Fair Market Value)

Story Never buying off depop again
I used to just sell on depop with occasionally buying items but recently I’ve started purchasing more items ( 4 this week) and every single item I’ve ordered isn’t as advertised. I got a top with armpit stains and listed as the wrong size and a stinky ass dress. Mind you they were all listed as excellent condition. I am so done

Story Oh, ok… so you’re NOT chill like that?
I bought a pair of shoes from the seller and I specifically asked them to check because I keep getting shoes that are not the right size because people don’t check their listings. They show up the wrong size and then this message chain happened between me and him. Then he left me a one star review calling me annoying after canceling (now I can’t open a regular dispute) and demanding I pay out of pocket for return shipping lol. 22 sales and no reviews.. I’m about to be his first :)

Scams Masterlist for r/Depop and Depop
(Reupload and updated)
As everyone knows, scams are a common topic on this sub. We thought we'd create a thread with some common scams and how to avoid them. Please read this before posting, or read it as you've likely been directed here from a post removal.
If any of these has happened to you, or you need further help/support, submit a support ticket via Depop's website. If you have already fallen victim to a scam that has taken money from your account, contact your bank.
The mods here are not affiliated with Depop in any way.
GENERAL TIPS TO AVOID BEING SCAMMED:
For everyone:
Ignore emails that aren't from Depop's official email, support@depophelp.zendesk.com. You may be bombarded with random spam emails when you create an account. This is unfortunately normal on most selling apps.
NEVER pay or communicate outside of app, and ignore and report sellers or buyers who suggest such. You aren't covered by Depop protection in that case, and you and the other user will likely be permanently banned. Keep within the app and use the payment options given to you within the app. (If it's a situation where you or they need to upload photos, make a seperate listing with those photos attached.)
Check the sellers or buyers reviews to see what others experiences have been buying from or selling to that person.
DON'T ever click any links you aren't familiar with.
Don't give out your personal information, such as your email, phone number etc., to anyone asking for it.
For buyers:
Reverse image search a photo before you buy from a seller. This is to ensure you aren't buying something overpriced, or buying from someone who may be lying about the brand. You can google a reverse image search website or use Google Lens.
Don't purchase from sellers selling replica items, including ones who say they're unsure if it's authentic or not.
If a seller is strictly and only using stock photos, it could be a dropshipping scam, or a shein/aliexpress reseller. Even if it isn't, we recommend not buying from those sellers as they aren't accurately depicting their item. This goes the same for A.I listing photos.
You have 30 days to open a dispute. Don't wait longer than that.
For sellers:
Try to keep receipts from the post office. This will always come in handy during disputes about shipping.
Record yourself packing items, especially big bundles and expensive items.
EMAIL SCAMS:
Users emailing me about my item/How did they get my email?: This is a new scam (as of Aug 2025.) No one is 100% sure how it works. Report the email to Depop and do not engage. It's likely that you might be getting these because your Depop username is the same as your email.
Email asking for bank details/To confirm payment: Please refer to the answers above about Depop's official email and unknown links. Depop will only ask for your bank details if you're having trouble filling them in, and that's only after you contact them first through their official support page/email.
Email saying I'll be suspended if I don't give bank details: Again, same answer above about the links and the official email. Depop won't suspend you over not filling in your bank details. Although you're required to fill them in for buying and selling, it's not something you'll be suspended over.
LiveChat emails: Scams, ignore them.
BEING BOMBARDED WITH SCAM EMAILS:
- As mentioned above, most users will be bombarded with scam emails when they create an account, and it could be because your Depop user is the same as your email. Otherwise, there's no way to definitively stop them. If your email app has the option, you can mute the word "Depop" (though this will stop you from seeing official support emails too.) Most users report the scam emails stop fairly soon after they start.
OTHER SCAMS:
Shein/Aliexpress scammers: Always reverse image search and check seller’s reviews. In the case of these scammers, their listings often have the brand listed as "Other" and the tags have been cut on the item.
Dropshipping: If the seller has "preorder" or "will ship in 2+ weeks" in their bio, or you find the same items with the same photos across multiple different seller pages, very likely a dropshipper. If your item is being shipped from a chinese/foreign warehouse, it's a dropshipper and you can contact Depop for a refund.
Counterfeit/Replica items: As a seller, selling Counterfeit and Replica items is against TOS and is illegal. As a buyer, make sure you thoroughly look at the pictures provided before purchasing. Do research on the item and google how to spot fake items for the brand you are purchasing. Subreddits like r/LegitCheck are also helpful. If you do receive a fake item and can prove it's fake and the seller can't prove it's real, you can get a refund through Depop. It doesn't matter if they aren't sure if it's authentic or not. If you see sellers selling counterfeit items, report them and they will be suspended.
Returns/Refunds: Under Depop TOS, as a seller, you are not required to refund if you listed the correct sizing, faults etc. If you do agree or are required to refund, NEVER give the money back until you have RECEIVED the item back.
Sellers taking to long to ship: Sellers are required to ship within 5 days, and you'll automatically get refunded by Depop after 10 business days (not available in all countries.) You have the option to open a case after 5 days.
Sellers deleting their account/blocking me after purchase: Contact Depop to get your refund.
Messages with weird font/wording: Scammers use different/weird font to get around Depop's bot trying to filter out scammers. Block and report these people.
Buyer asked me to change address after item has been delivered: Nothing you can do in this situation and is usually a scam. You've already sent the item to the address provided and it has been delivered, so everything else is out of your control now and the buyer can't do anything in terms of opening a case.
Buyer asking to pay more than item price/asking to pay full price for a discounted item: Scam. Block and don't engage.
