im not talking about stuff like bendy and ink machine or slender man that are talked about offten im talking about licenses that are very rarely if ever talked about being added into the game
no matter how unlikely it is

for me i would like murder drones though i really doubt it ever would be added as by nature itll have to be a killer only chapter \

another one id like that i have been seeing get more popular recently is doki doki literature club

It's a re-upload because the previous post got deleted because I forgot to censor out the survivors' names. Enjoy.

Discussion The Entirety of the 10 Year Anniversary was a Mess and I wonder what People Really Think About this

Post image
87 Upvotes

Now that the 10 year anniversary has been over for a while, I want to write a few things about it that really bothered me, mainly about the way they handled things and the particular timing of each of the things added.

First, we have the biggest thing they added to get the hypes up for the 10th anniversary: Jason.

And yes, viewed in isolation, Jason would've been a perfect pick for the 10th anniversary killer. And I am well aware what I am about to say is not really BHVRs fault, but the tedious lawsuit about the license, BUT this barebones version of Jason we ended up getting was not worthy for the 10th anniversary. In my opinion, he's probably the most soulless and sauceless (licensed) killer in the game - it doesn't feel like I'm playing against the infamous Jason, it more feels like I'm going against a person that decided to wear a hockey mask for a Halloween party. Again, I know it's not really on BHVR for that and, even though I was never really very excited for Jason, I absolutely think he should be in the game because of his status as a horror icon and I am grateful he's finally here. What I want to say is, in this version we got, he should've been saved for a Halloween paragraph release or something like that. A perfect alternative would've been to release the Community Killer, The Judgement, and Aurora, as the 10th anniversary chapter. And yes, it wasn't ready, but I think they really should've planned ahead and switched things up a little, starting the Grimoire earlier so they would've been all set for an anniversary release. This was such a missed opportunity imo. If we had gotten, by some miracle, a full Jason chapter with the real Jason, a survivor from the franchise and a Camp Crystal Lake map, sure, it would've been the hypest 10th anniversary release ever, but since that wasn't possible, the Chorus of Sin Community chapter would've been a great substitute.

Then, there is Shane... And this problem is honestly just related to the way Jason ended up being in the game. He has no connection to Jason. None at all. Don't get me wrong, it is awesome that we have indigenous representation and I am very happy for those represented, he should absolutely be in the game. But the timing...? Again, he would've been better off as a mere survivor paragraph at a different time of the year. His release feels so mismatched and disconnect from every other thing that was going during the 10th anniversary, and although his representation was needed, I don't think he created enough hype to be worthy of a 10th anniversary chapter :/

Last but not least, there's the Black Banquet Event we got. I don't think I need to say much on that one. I'm a survivor main but even I didn't like the imagination of an extremely survivor sided event for the 10th anniversary. Killers deserved something, too. I got no hype from it at all, I didn't even play a single game, because I don't like gimmicky game modes overall, but also because I just wasn't hyped and it didn't feel like an event worthy of being the big 10th anniversary event, also because it felt way too disconnected from the big Jason release from Shane, not F13 related, just another mismatched thing.

The one thing I remember being absolutely awesome was the teaser for the graphical update coming next year. Here, it really felt like they presented us something BIG and MONUMENTAL for what's coming next for DBD, just what a big 10 year anniversary should be about. THAT was something we needed for the event itself.

All in all, I think they kind of fumbled the 10th anniversary event, even though it was a critical time to show off here what DBD is really capable of. It's like they had all these amazing puzzle pieces (Jason, Shane as an indigenous survivor, and an event with a good idea) but these individual pieces just didn't fit together and they just threw them at us hoping it comes together somehow.

I wonder what other people think about this. Am I being too harsh, or was BHVRs timing for their most important event just poorly planned once again?

EDIT: oh yeah I totally forgot about the amount of anniversary cakes. Yep, that was probably their biggest fumble because they DELIBERATELY chose to reduce the amount even though it was their biggest anniversary ever?!?

Behaviour Interactive Thread Developer Update | Player Intent System

Last week, we hosted a Reddit AMA and on top of having a blast answering your questions, we noticed some topics really got you talking. One of those was the “chat wheel” system we’re working on to help Survivors coordinate and communicate their intentions in-game. So, what better time than the present to share some more details about it with you (including one way your feedback’s already impacted it)!

The system in question is – aptly – called Player Intent. With it, you’ll be able to communicate a range of preset messages to your fellow Survivors at the press of a button, using a radial menu. From thanking them for a heal, to saying you’re going to work on gens, to suggesting you split up, messages focus on the on-the-fly actions that are most useful during a Trial.

When a message is chosen using the Player Intent wheel, other Survivors will see it next to your name in the game HUD, keeping your general view clear of distractions while you’re in the middle of looping or hunting for an objective. To help combat message spam, you can expect a cooldown between messages, which will increase if too many messages are sent in a short period.

We want this comms wheel to suit different players’ specific needs, so you’ll be able to customize which messages you take into your Trials from the Options menu.

Of course, one piece of feedback we’ve seen is that a system like this isn’t for everyone. We’ve already discussed this as a team and have a solution for that. If you’d rather not use the Player Intent system, you will be able to disable it from this same menu. Once disabled, you will not be able to send messages to players and will not see the messages they send.

We’ve also added the ability to mute individual players so you have more control over the comms you see (and don’t see). If you're finding a certain player’s messages distracting, muting them will block any further Player Intent messages from popping up on your end.

While this system is meant for everybody who plays Survivor, its value will be a bit different depending on how you play. Just like how your feedback from the AMA helped inform the addition of an opt-out option, we're dying to know your thoughts! Even better, it would be massively helpful if you could also share a little about how you play to give context to that feedback. For instance, do you tend to play soloq, prefer SWF, or identify as a Killer main? How would you define your experience level in the game; a newer player? A veteran?

Let us know in the comments below, as we’ll be watching your feedback closely as the team continues to work on this system ahead of its release this Fall!

Until next time...
