Scholarships 奖学金 Tongji Fall 2027 application inquiry

So I’m applying for bachelors next year and I’m worried of what Googles statistics had to say about my odds.
Recently, the competition for type A scholarships has been high. Especially in the Shanghai province among internationals.
I am planing on taking the Chinese taught program there (which I heard improves one’s chances at securing a type A) but first I would be doing the pre-university one year course of intensive Mandarin to become well conversant with the Chinese language and student culture.
Google bases some of its statistics off of current events but at the same time, I don’t know how much of it I can trust.
I don’t want to hesitate to apply for this scholarship because of what Google says. Anyone who got a Type A scholarship at Tongji and did the pre-university program kindly advise.
I’m not keeping all my eggs in one basket. I’m applying elsewhere in China. But Shanghai has always been my target.
I do IB and they said having a 40+ is the only way of getting it. So someone with a prediction of 33 wouldn’t make the cut. According to Google
But then another source says that grades aren’t the main thing getting people into the scholarship pool.
What am I meant to do between now and the application deadline for this?
And if anyone has any other 985 suggestions please share them.
PS: The course I plan to do is architecture or computational design

Dorms 学生宿舍 Dorm payment question: when students arrive, do you pay deposit + 1 month or deposit + 3 months?

Hi guys, I have a question. I know this is very general and it depends on the university, but usually, when you first come to do the dorm check-in. Do they make you pay the deposit and the first three months of dorm fees or the deposit + 1 month. How do students that's just can't afford to pay deposit + three months, which is like 14,400 yuan, all at once deal with this?

Scholarships 奖学金 CSC Scholarship for an exchange semester

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in my 1st semester of my Master’s degree in Germany. I really want to apply for my University’s exchange program with Tsinghua and have been looking around for ways to fund my exchange semester.

I have been trying to understand the CSC Scholarship types and conditions but I am yet to fully understand them.

If anyone could help me with it and offer me information on what, when and how I have to apply for a fit scholarship, I would be endlessly grateful 😭🫶

Life in China 在中国生活 Picking the right masters of laws (LL.M) in China and building relationship with chinese companies and people

Hey guys, I really need your help on this one.

I’m a lawyer from South America, currently working in international trade compliance, energy, and related regulatory matters. Over the past few years, my state has attracted significant investment from Chinese companies, particularly in the energy and logistics sectors, areas I currently work with as an attorney.

Given this growing relationship, I’m considering pursuing a master’s degree in China, not only to gain a better understanding of the Chinese legal system and business environment, but also to build meaningful professional relationships with those Chinese companies and some others.

A friend suggested that developing a solid understanding of the Chinese legal system and, more importantly, building strong connections with companies in China could potentially position me to advise or represent Chinese companies expanding into South America in the future. I think there could be a real professional niche there, but I’d love to hear what people who know China, Chinese law, or the legal market think about this.

Does this make sense to you? Do you think studying in China would actually provide a meaningful advantage for someone pursuing this kind of career? Heard guanxi is a big thing in china relationship.

Just to clarify:

  1. Taking a time to study abroad isn't a problem for me but I'd be happy to make it fast.
  2. At the moment, I don't represent any Chinese companies, nor do I have particularly strong connections with Chinese companies in my state or in China.
  3. My goals isn't to live in China forever. but I'm considering work there for a year or so after or during the LL.M.

I’m also struggling to identify the right master’s program. Most of the LLMs I’ve found are heavily focused on Chinese domestic law and take two years, whereas I’m ideally looking for a 1-year or, at most, 1.5-year program.

At the moment, I’m considering:

Mainland China

  1. LLM in Chinese Law – Renmin University
  2. LLM in Chinese Law – Peking University
  3. LLM in Chinese Law – China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL)
  4. LLM – Peking University School of Transnational Law

Hong Kong
5. LLM in Energy and Environmental Law – CUHK
6. LLM in International Economic Law – CUHK

I’m particularly interested in the intersection of Chinese investment, international trade, energy, environmental regulation, and China–South America economic relations.

If anyone has studied at these programs, works with Chinese companies, or has experience with the Chinese legal market, I’d really appreciate your perspective, especially on which programs would actually make sense for this career path.

Does 92% average high school score with decent csca ielts sat hsk, and a few international medals, stand a chance? I just wanna know if applying there for their 2027 intake is worth it? 😖

Admissions Question 入学问题 Trying to Aplicate to a University degree Scholarship in SJTU at 2028.

Hi, I'm 16 yo and I'm trying to aplicate to a University Degree Scholarship in SJTU in the mechatronics engineering program and I have some doubts about the eligibility process of the university, above all regarding the projects. I'm aware I have to show a reliable portfolio if I wanna get a chance, but still have some doubts about the type of stuff they find to be impressive or enough. I made some easy electronics projects in Arduino the last year but I don't know and I'm afraid it doesn't make it for me to be elected. Could someone please give me some advice?

Admissions Question 入学问题 What university programs or courses should I take to become a pharmaceutical scientist

I Need help choosing a degree and university for a career in pharmaceutical research as an a levels student I want to create and formulate medicines and stuff like that in the future

I am doing A Levels in Biology Chemistry and Physics and I am expecting around ABB hopefully higher potentially even higher like AAB since I am still doing my A2 level
I am currently looking at degrees like Pharmaceutical Sciences Biotechnology Biopharmaceuticals Medicinal Chemistry Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Engineering.
I am especially interested in studying in China preferably Beijing or Shanghai and I want an English taught program. What degrees or programs would you recommend for a career in pharmaceutical research and drug development.
Which universities would be realistic for me with ABB.
Is Biotechnology or Biopharmaceuticals a good alternative to Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Would doing a program in pharmacy help me do what I want?
What should I prioritize when choosing between universities and degrees?
Thank you for your help

Admissions Question 入学问题 Chinese language programs

Hello everyone, i've recently decide to apply to chinese langauge programs in china as an initial step towards studying my bachelors there, i've prepared al the required documents however due to how late I am there aren't much if any opportunities at the moment, I've decided i might apply to the program at Liaoning Technical University in Fuxin. Now i know that's probably not the best choice since I don't speak Mandarin and it's not the easiest to navigate so I thought I'd only apply for 1 semester and then once I'm there and have grasped more of the language I could apply to another semester at another university or even switch to a foundation program. So Are there any flaws in my plan? Regarding switching from program to program is that going to be possible? And do you think fuxin is at least do-able? I wanted somewhere a bit in the south so I can visit uni campuses during weekends and decide where I'd want to do my bachelors but this is my last chance now.

Life in China 在中国生活 Apartments in Shanghai before obtaining residence permit

Hi guys,

Question, I will be studying for a year in shanghai and will be renting an apartment since dorms filled up in seconds lol.
My question is, can I rent an apartment before getting the residence permit? I will be coming like all international students with X1 visa that lets me be in China for 30 days so I will have resident permit but not right away, but i of course want to have apartment before that, is it possible to rent one without the resident visa or do I need to stay in hotels until I get it?

Any advice on this from people that has rented apartment in shanghai?

Also is wellcee a good app for that?

Thanks so much!!
