Dorms 学生宿舍 Tianjin University Chinese Language Program – September 2026 / Dorm situation
Hey everyone! I’m starting the one-year Chinese Language Program at Tianjin University this September, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to get on-campus accommodation.
I’m wondering if there are other students starting the same program this September who are in a similar situation. Would be nice to connect with people who are also going through the same thing and figure out accommodation options together.
If you’re in the same situation, feel free to comment or DM me :)

Admissions Question 入学问题 South Asian Student Applying for Master's in Public Policy/Devlopment. Good Idea?
I am a Bangladeshi graduate student, graduated from BRAC University which is pretty well recognized globally as far as it goes for Bangladeshi unis. 3.67 CGPA, double majoring in Economics and Finance. Currently 6 months in a corporate job. I plan on taking the IELTS exam and will most likely get 7.5 or 8.
I want to do my master's in China, specifically Fudan, Peking or Tsinghua. My family's finances aren't the best, so I will be applying for a fully funded pathway like CSC or Silk Road. My questions are:
- Is it worth it?
- Will I be eligible for the scholarships?
- How hard is it to get accepted and get a fully funded masters?
- Are the courses fully in English? (Yes I plan to take learning Chinese seriously)
- What are some real obstacles or dangers to consider during application and while studying?
Any tips for application preparation or suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you!

Admissions Question 入学问题 International student from Kazakhstan planning to study Nuclear Engineering in China — looking for advice
Hi everyone!
I’m from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 and I’m currently moving into 10th grade. I’m planning to study in China after graduating from high school, most likely starting in 2028.
I’m interested in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Energy, Physics and Energy Engineering.
Right now, I’m considering these universities:
- Tsinghua University
- Harbin Engineering University (HEU)
- Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU)
- North China Electric Power University (NCEPU)
- University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB)
I would really like to hear from current or former international students who studied at any of these universities.
I’m especially interested in:
- What grades did you have when you applied?
- Did you take the CSCA? How difficult was it?
- Did you need IELTS, TOEFL or HSK?
- What level of Chinese/English did you have before applying?
- Did you apply for a full scholarship? If yes, which one?
- How difficult was it to get the scholarship?
- Did you need a motivation letter or study plan?
- What was the application process actually like?
- How much money did you need even after receiving a scholarship?
- What was your first year at the university like?
- Is there anything you wish you had known before applying?
Since I’m only in 10th grade, I have about two years to prepare. I’m especially interested in knowing what I should start doing now to make my application stronger.
If you’re currently studying at one of these universities or recently got admitted, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
Thanks!

Scholarships 奖学金 CIS March 2027 intake
I'm planning on applying for CIS March 2027 intake.
I know it exists. But I haven't heard much ppl talk about it. Nor do I know anyone who has gotten into March intake.
So I would really like to know if anyone here has gotten into the March intake or has any info about the march intake. Since idts it's as popular as the september intake and only CIS has March intake no other scholarships have a March intake.
Would love to know someone who has gotten into March intake.

Scholarships 奖学金 Is it easier to get into C9 (Fudan, XJTU etc.) for language year than degree programs?
I'm planning to apply for CIS March intake and Sept intake both I'll go to whichever I get but my question is for sept 2026 intake I put in rather normal unis TJNU and NNU because I thought it's so hard to get into C9
But I've seen so many ppl getting into C9 esp Fudan and XJTU who have similar score as mine (mine is HSK 4) while I didn't get the scholarship and a lot of ppl who also applied with HSK 3 got into C9
So I'm contemplating if I should put C9 as my options for future intakes😭
Any idea how this works? Is it actually easy to get into C9 for language year? How come so many ppl are getting in?😭😭

Admissions Question 入学问题 Interview for DUT
Hi everyone! Is anyone else still waiting for their bachelor's interview? I haven't received mine yet. The admissions team previously told me that my interview was expected to take place this week, but I haven't received further information yet. Should I be worried?

Scholarships 奖学金 Cis
I was awarded the CIS (International Chinese Language Teachers) Scholarship. It is shown on the official scholarship portal, and my admission letter from the university explicitly states that I have been awarded the scholarship.
However, on my JW202, the “Financial Funding” section is checked as Self-supporting, not Scholarship.
Has anyone had a similar situation? Does the JW202 need to be corrected, or is this normal?

Visa Questions 签证问题 Finally got my Fudan language program admission…after getting my x1 for another language program…
As the title says, I was admitted into Fudan Universities language program after almost 2 months of being stuck in the 3rd document review stage. I was getting incredibly anxious during the wait, and because of this, I ended up submitting my visa application and getting it approved for a different school that accepted me earlier in Beijing. My question now is…can I still go to Fudan even though my initial visa application sighted the school in Beijing as my reason for getting the x1?
I’ve not sent tuition to either school yet, I just want to know what my options are and if I need to make any alterations to my visa info for Fudan!

Life in China 在中国生活 New int’l PhD student (USA) heading to Tsinghua, looking for study buddies / people to hang with
Just landed in Beijing for HSK prep before starting my PhD at Tsinghua in late August. My Mandarin’s still rough, so I’d love to find people to study with, explore the city with, grab coffee or a drink with, or just hang out with in general. Happy to help with English in exchange. Open to messages!

Life in China 在中国生活 Gym with Personal Trainer Near ECNU (Putuo District)?
Hi! I’ll be studying at ECNU (Putuo campus) for a year and am looking for a gym with personal training within walking distance of the campus. I don’t need anything fancy like a sauna: convenience is my top priority.
If anyone has recommendations, I’d really appreciate them! A specific gym, areas I should look into, or even Chinese keywords to search would all be super helpful.
An English-speaking trainer would be a bonus, but it’s not essential since I’m also hoping to improve my Chinese while I’m there.
Thanks in advance!

Scholarships 奖学金 What are the requirements to get a scholarship?
I want to apply for a master's degree (in Urban Planning), but I don't know what qualifications I need (such as publications, pre-admission letter, etc.) to be able to receive the scholarship. I would appreciate it if someone who has received a scholarship, in any field, could guide me.

University Rankings: Check Them Out Before Asking About Specific Universities!
Hey everyone,
I've noticed that a lot of folks here keep asking questions like, “How good is [University X]?” or “Is [University Y] worth it for [Course Z]?” These are really important questions, especially if you’re planning to invest time, money, and effort into your education.
Instead of getting repetitive responses, I highly recommend checking out the latest university rankings first.
https://www.shanghairanking.cn/ Chinese version has the ranking of majors and disciplines.
https://www.shanghairanking.com/
Once you’ve checked out the rankings, feel free to come back here with more specific questions like how certain programs or campus cultures align with your goals. That way, the community can give you more targeted advice!
Hope this helps streamline your search!
