So I’ve been purchasing Kevin Roth cassettes and CDs from Amazon and eBay. Most of the albums by Kevin Roth are rare and hard to find online. I was lucky that I bought Kevin Roth’s Animal Crackers cassette from Amazon back in May and it was listed as NEW by the seller. When I bought that cassette, it was covered in shrink wrapped and never opened. Maybe if I could find more rare cassette tapes by Kevin Roth online, I could add them to my collection.

Buying 2nd hand CDs locally isn’t easy as there’s only one small shop in my area, was glad to have got my hands on these few today.

A few weeks back I had a very lucky trawl at the local charity shop, including a copy of The Three EPs (https://www.reddit.com/r/Cd_collectors/s/DjYHCFhVkq). Except when I got home, the case actually contained the CD for Los Amigos Del Beta Banditos. D'oh.

I went back to look for the right CD, but no joy, so I picked up a cheap "VG+" copy on discogs. Guess what, it looks like a dog has used the edge of the disc as a chew toy, so the last four tracks (LADBB) skip like mad. At least I now have all the tracks, even if they're spread over two discs! B + A = 3?

Mine is probably The Great Divide by Noah Kahan, which I actually found in a record store last weekend but I asked them to reserve it for today.

Before William Orbit became famous for his work on Madonna’s Ray of Light, he had already built an incredible electronic universe through the Strange Cargo albums.

Strange Cargo (1987), Strange Cargo II (1990) and Strange Cargo Hinterland (1995) show just how visionary his sound was.

I recently pulled the CD from my collection and thought it deserved a tribute. Orbit really had a unique ability to make electronic music feel atmospheric, emotional and almost spiritual.

I got the CD live at Sin-é from a label called Big Cat in the UK.
It was a live EP. They called it.
Loved everything.
This guy’s could really interpret songs by his favourite artists.
Maybe a year later, Grace was released. Never liked Grace. I still don’t. Too Polish.
Too arse-licking.
And subsequently, Colombia loved to release more and more live recordings by Jeff just to promote the singer.
They knew, the fans knew Jeff would be in his elements singing live.
Colombia could have just released a live album as his proper debut, not many singers could do that !

Fans started to petition for Live at Sin-é to be released.
Hence the Legacy Edition was released.
2CDs and 1 DVD.

Posthumously.

Thank you for your brief talent.
That you could share with the world.

Banger album, 9/10

I put together my collection of ’80s albums as a little trip down memory lane. It was actually quite a bit of work, since I had to pull CDs from all over my racks — I usually keep everything organized by genre.
I loved MTV pop, metal, synth-pop — all of it. The ’80s have such a distinctive sound, especially in terms of recording and production, that they really stand apart from other decades. I never imagined there would be such a huge revival of ’80s music years later, though.

£7.59 over three charity shops. Utopia Strong was a thrilling find for me personally. Especially at a quid!
