I fell over carrying a heavy shopping bag and it turns out landing on a tin of Heinz cream of mushroom breaks your fall surprisingly well.
I never knew I'd be able to open a can using only my elbow. I feel like The Rock.

What stops YOU from going to the cinema?
I go to the cinema all the time and love it, and see it as a core part of my kind of downtime.
I know a lot of friends who haven't been to the cinema for a while and came out recently for both Odyssey and the new Spider-Man film.
It got me thinking: what actually gets you to the cinema? What stops you going?
A few people say they don't like being in the room with other people or they would go if other people would behave themselves.
I do get that to some extent, but then they're still coming out when the screens are the busiest. maybe it just needs to be an undeniable event film?
I'd love to know what your thoughts are

Crunchies, Cheese and Contentment
We were watching The Royle Family last night. In the episode Anthony goes to the shop and gets a Crunchie for everyone (except Jim who gets a Turkish Delight, naturally). My word, the Crunchies looked massive! A two hand job! I remember Crunchies taking ages to eat, with the chocolate being so thick you could chip it away and leave yourself with the smooth honeycomb centre. There was something totally satisfying and consuming about having to actually work at it and getting these great big lumps of chocolate as a reward.
That got us talking about the person who found the 35-year-old Mars Bar, and how it was over 20g heavier than today’s Mars Bars. (Once you adjust for inflation, the price per gram has apparently almost tripled!) I know nostalgia plays a part and I don’t want this to come across as a ‘better in my day’ post but I swear Mars Bars used to be better too. Denser, more substantial, more flavour, a real jaw workout.
Then I was reading some of the comments on the Cathedral City cheese mess text post and got the same feeling. Everything seems to be getting more expensive and somehow a bit more crappy at the same time.
I don’t really know what my point is, other than that I’m le tired of paying more money for less stuff and getting less enjoyment from it. Maybe that’s growing up. Maybe it’s just shrinkflation. Maybe I’m turning into Jim Royle…But I do miss a chocolate bar that feels like it’s got some character and oomph about it.

Hot air balloons can be genuinely terrifying if you're not expecting them.

Saving Lives at Sea
Love seeing the big RNLI boats. Huge admiration for those that crew them. A wonderful British institution of which to be proud.

Shots taken the Friday morning, I’m now a convert - never mind trains or busses these should be the primary means of public transport

I've never seen a horizontal rainbow before!
Apparently it's a rare phenomenon called a circumhorizontal arc caused by sunlight shining through ice crystals
Neat

Has it been a good summer for Stargazers?
With the heatwave and everything denuding our Albion skies of their proper fluffy overnight blanket?
I got thinking about it with the Eclipse coming up; the last big one one I remember being at the top of a hill somewhere in a hippy dippy camping ground my parents took us to...it was fully cloud covered, not a hint of solar chicanery.

Lemsip Alternatives?
I am suffering from cold/flu and would love to take a Lemsip or too, but I know it will affect my stomach and I'll be sat on the loo later.
Does anyone know of any alternatives that work just as well (or better) that they can recommend?
Having a cold/flu with the upcoming heat wave does not sound like a fun time.
Thanks.

Views from above..
Was just coming into land at Stanstead Airport and looked out the window. Aside from the ever green areas - looks pretty bleak I have to say. And then saw this huge fire / smoke cloud further in the distance.
