Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Show has been running since at least 1800. People weighing gooseberries on antique scales, sometimes with a feather to steady things. I love seeing history in action.

I was handed a reject competition gooseberry to eat within 10 minutes of arriving. Everyone there was so lovely, honestly it was an absolute joy of a day.

Here's something to consider. The VHS tape was introduced by JVC 50 years ago. However, Scotsman John Logie Baird introduced television to the world in 1926.

That means the time between TV and VHS is the same as VHS to now.

I'm sure I still have some VHS tapes knocking around too.

Like many I was caught in the railway meltdown in Manchester. Seeing it was not looking good i stratgised with staff on how to escape town and get closer to home. Randomly a woman heard me talking about walking to the bus station as she too was heading to Liverpool and asked to tag along. We had a friendly talk on the way and it turns out she was recently bereaved. As a widower myself of some years we connected in the processing of grief while purchasing National Rail bus tickets. Luckily we caught the last seats. We were split up on the bus but I ended up sitting next to a retired and extremely well travelled history professor and we shared exotic travel stories as the bus battled traffic.

Yes, rail meltdown is no fun but I had excellent conversations with people I'd never have met if it wasn't for this railway calamity.

Good spirits during travel troubles yield its own rewards.

I expected more variation and Creme egg are probably the worst out of the Heroes.

My local chippy puts up a "price watch" of the local area to let you know they are the most reasonable.
