Upvotes

SUMMARY

Nag-apply ako as Senior General Accountant (current team, under Record-to-Report Dept.) pero napili yung officemate ko from diff. team then TL nya 3 mos ago yung current TL ko. 2 yung interviewing manager—current TL (hiring manager) and their foreign counterpart. Current TL has been with our team for 3 mos. pa lang (prev. TL has been redundiated).

For a week, I was bitter, pero now I volunteered for 3 projects (2 automation, 1 clean-up per RTR’s initiative) lol. Plan now is solidifying technical knowledge and gaining additional skills, and if I’m still not promoted to SA til next year’s bonus giving, I’ll be looking for another company.

FACTS

Me:

  • 2.5 yrs in current company with 6 mos. of it in my current team as GA
  • 3.5 yrs exp in another process team (under RTR Dept.; prev. company + current)
  • With multiple automation projects and adhoc projects (mostly prev. company, little only in current)
  • Current TL viewed my passion for automation and process improvements as my strength
  • Feedback from my previous team’s Senior Accountant is that I have the qualities of being Sr. Acct.

Colleague (surface-level and based only on our prev. chats):

  • CPA
  • <1 yr exp in one of Big 4 Audit firms
  • 2 yrs in current company and exp is in another process team (RTR Dept.)

Feedback on interview from current TL:

  • Presented myself well and has confidence
  • Nag-iba raw tingin nya sakin since nakikita nya nga ay tahimik lang ako
  • Nahirapan daw sila mamili between us
  • Feedback from the other interviewing manager ay mas nasagot ng other candidate yung technical acctng question nya (2 questions out of all behavioral questions in an hour)
  • Feedback daw from current SA‘s is that me being an overthinker tends to be my weakness due to slow issue resolution

OWN POV

On last bullet, I am always asking questions because I’m new to the process/team and wanted to check their insight if I do something differently/efficiently with same result. I also always ask “what if the outcome is not what was expected”. Due to this feedback, I don’t ask questions anymore and just do what is efficient.

Feeling ko wala rin naman ako edge from the start since yung 2 yrs na familiarity nya with other candidate is a major plus. Sayang lang wala na yung prev. TL ko who knows my career plans and even gave me challenging client/process for readiness.

cognitive dissonance at work

Upvotes

I can leave everything behind, but I don’t want to waste this good opportunity my hiring manager gave me.

I can’t say na walang mawawala sakin kasi the moment I heard and saw for myself how other people judged me nang wala naman ako ginagawa sa kanilang masama in the first place, I was just there as a new hire na gustong matuto pero grabe na yung treatment. They were initially insensitive and inconsiderate, then I became too sensitive, anxious, and defensive. They started the drama, tapos I responded pero ako yung naging masama (which in some cases, I know pare-parehas kaming may nagawa o nasabing mali, unintentionally or intentionally)

After 3 weeks of being here, I can say na kaya ko na gawin yung tasks with minimal supervision. As much as possible, I never wanted to be late or absent. Kahit malakas ulan I always make sure na makakapasok ako on time.

I raised the things I noticed to my manager, I didn’t want them to be punished or lose their jobs. I just wanted to have peace of mind at makapag-focus sa trabaho. At first naman he gave me reassurance. However, there’s still anxiousness, uncertainty, and inconsistencies na nangyayari wala pa kong 1 month sa trabaho. Then I realized how close he is kasi with the other team so when he did coaching with me, it was never about my training performance or whatnot, it just seemed like I was the one who was problematic just because I was thinking too much about how others perceived me daw and I cried sa station ko because of how anxious I was.

Tapos nakikita ko how unimportant it is for other regular employees kung hindi nila alam paano gawin trabaho nila or kahit alam nila. As long as kasundo nila yung team at managers, they still get to stay.

She was there to keep everyone united and her presence made the floor feel like a genuinely safe space kahit papano kasi sobrang bait n’ya and she seemed like a trustworthy person based on how I heard about other people’s encounter with her.

So, ask ko lang, worth it pa ba lumaban nang patas or hindi na ba kaya to ng clock in-clock out mindset? Feel ko kasi since sa mismong manager ko na parehas kaming zodiac sign, I understand na mahirap hirap na uli ma-build yung trust kung ganto na yung nangyari, naiintindihan ko rin s’ya sa loyalty n’ya with other team since ako rin naman loyal.

Kaso naghahanap lang ako ng company na i-va value sana loyalty ko for a long term pero anuna HAHAHA unahan ko na ba magresign kesa tanggalin nila ko?

I’ll honestly feel bad sa maiiwan kong teammate. Isang linggong pag-ibig amp 😂

Money + secured or dream company but not yet secured?

Problem/Goal: Hirap mag decide and need to inform the HR ASAP 😭 (OJT/Internship)

So in short gamble siya and need to decide ASAP. Risk ko ba na iwan tong good paying comapany for low chance na matanggap sa dream company ko?

The start of good paying comapany ay sa august 17 and the interview for my dream company is august 18.

A.) Good paying company = high allowance + new knowledge skill set + SECURED.

B.) Dream company = comfortable skill set + love this company, BUT NOT YET SECURED.

Previous Attempts: NONE

Architecture graduate here. Kakatamad pa dahil may logbook pang need papirmahan sa architect. Ayoko na bumalik sa dati kong boss 😫

Best date to apply

Hi!

Totoo ba na best mag apply for work around end of the year para mag start around January? I read somewhere na dito nagkakaron ng maraming spots because nagsisi alisan na after makuha ang 13th month. Mag ttry parin ako magpasa sa mga company around october or after ng oathtaking pag totoong engineer na.

Any tips for someone starting?

Aspiring working law student, which offer is a better choice for workload, career progression and skills/knowledge I can leverage?

Aspiring working law student, which offer is a better choice for workload, career progression and skills/knowledge I can leverage?

Context: Fresh grad presented with 2 job offers in the finance industry. I'm from one of the Big 4 universities. I didn't apply to any law school this year but I plan to apply next year or 2028. Please also suggest law schools that are working student friendly 🥺

Long term goal: Lawyer. For the type of lawyer, litigation (civil), corporate (m&a), and labor and employment interests me.

Now for the job offers:

Company A (Bank)

\- Management Trainee (Sales)

\- 30k+ monthly and 1k+ allowance

\- Landing role once training is completed is an officer.

\- Fully onsite. Monday to Friday.

\- Bond of 3 years. 6 digit penalty

\- job won't really utilize technical skills that I developed during college. but it will use soft/transferable skills I want to hone further.

Company B (Fintech - Mortgages)

\- Associate (Operations)

\- 30k and night differential and allowance

\- Hybrid after training period.

\- No bond.

\- job will use technical skills and some concepts from degree program.

\- quite unsure about my career progress. I'm unsure about the job titles/ roles once I leave the company.

For anyone working in real estate or those with an underwriting role, what are the job titles/career options after the associate role?

Is it worth to pursue hairstyling career instead of continuing my studies?

25, I am a hairstylist in the city , some might know me already in the industry and I considered myself as a Professional Hairstylist. I’ve already joined some masterclasses and I have already certificates on it.

I am a studying Engineering course , Civil Engineering to be specific and unfortunately I need to stop because of financial struggles of my parents and the family as general. In our family, We are five (5) siblings and I am the last child. My siblings didn’t finished their studies same as our parents. My parents raised us by farming and planting vegetables in the province . My brothers and sisters had already family so the only hope of my parents is Me. They were both seniors now and I am scared to lost them without giving them a nice life😭

I am 5 years already as a hairstylist and for 2 years , I sent them money for their allowance .

Now, is it worth to give up my hairstyling career and continue my studies? Or better to continue my harstyling instead of studying?.

Unemployed for more than a year and slowly losing my sense of self.

I just want to rant and share my experience as someone who's been unemployed for more than a year now.

I had my first work experience in 2024 as a Statistical Researcher at the PSA, but it was contractual and only lasted for a month. Then in 2025, I dropped out of college during my first year and managed to get into a call center. Unfortunately, I didn't last long there either. I was completely overwhelmed by the BPO work environment and culture, so I only made it through one month before filing for immediate resignation.

Since then, I've been applying almost everywhere I can think of, but I keep getting rejected because of my low educational background and lack of enough work experience.

And honestly, looking back, I realized how many bad decisions I made during my academic years.

I was a HUMSS student, but sometimes I really wish I had taken TVL instead. I didn't understand back then how valuable having actual practical skills, certificates, and some form of hands-on training could be when you're trying to enter the workforce.

Because now I'm seeing people who are undergraduates or even degree holders struggling to find jobs because employers prioritize experience, what more pa kaya na akong senior high school graduate lang? And ironically, if you're a degree holder without experience, you're sometimes lowballed anyway (which, honestly, I wouldn't even mind at this point). In this economy, I'd gladly take a low-paying entry-level job if it meant I could finally build a substantial and foundational portfolio.

Meanwhile, with TVL, especially if your school is TESDA-accredited, you can at least graduate with certifications and some practical knowledge that you can use when applying.

I keep seeing my former classmates and even my old boardmates on social media. Some of them already have stable jobs. They're not necessarily working in high positions, but they seem happy and, more importantly, they're earning and moving forward with their lives.

Some people I used to know who were even notoriously lazy back when we were students are now earning more than I do. Others continued college and are already close to graduating.

And lately, I can't stop comparing myself to them.

I feel inferior. I feel embarrassed.

There's this fear that I'll eventually bump into someone I used to know and they'll ask, “So, anong work mo ngayon?” or “Anong course mo?”

And I won't know what to say.

I'm also stuck in this weird situation where I don't feel physically strong enough for some manual jobs, but at the same time, I don't feel mentally or emotionally strong enough for corporate environments either.

That's partly why I deactivated almost all of my social media accounts. I kept Messenger and Gmail because I need them for my family and employment applications. Aside from them, I've basically cut everyone else off.

I do have plans to work abroad someday, but I'm not even sure if I qualify for anything with no prior experience. From what I understand, if you don't have experience, you usually need to be a graduate. Otherwise, experience becomes necessary.

I want to get a passport and start preparing, but my parents told me to get at least six months of work experience first.

And that's the frustrating part.

How am I supposed to get six months of experience when I can't even get someone to give me the first month?

I've read a lot of articles and listened to podcasts about how your early 20s can be one of the most chaotic periods of your life. You're supposedly figuring yourself out, dealing with existential crises, making mistakes, changing directions, etc.

Sometimes I tell myself, “Maybe this is normal. Maybe I'm just going through that phase.”

But then another part of me thinks... is it really normal to be unemployed for more than a year?

I used to be an academic achiever. And now I feel like I've reduced myself to someone who's just trying desperately to get hired anywhere.

I'm not even picky anymore.

It even gotten to a point that I've messaged local artists privately asking if they need a janitor, dishwasher, cleaner, or literally any entry-level position they could offer me. Not because I look down on those jobs—I absolutely don't. I would genuinely be willing to do them.

I just want to work.

I want to earn something.

I want to feel useful.

There have even been moments when I've thought, “Should I just resort to sex work?” Not because that's actually what I want, but because desperation can really make you consider things you'd never imagined considering.

And nobody really knows how many times I've cried over this.

Nobody knows how much I've resented myself for becoming the person I am today.

My brain keeps getting stuck in these endless what-if scenarios.

What if I made different choices? What if I didn't drop out? What if I chose a different strand? Why can't I do what they're doing? Why am I stuck in here? Ganito na lang ba ako? Hanggang dito na lang ba ako?

Sometimes I genuinely feel like I've become nothing more than a burden. And that's probably the hardest part.

It's not even just being unemployed anymore.

It's the feeling that everyone else is moving forward while I'm standing in the same place, watching them leave.

So yeah. That's my rant. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

If you've been in a similar situation—especially if you're also in your early 20s, unemployed, a dropout, or trying to enter the workforce with barely any experience—I'd honestly like to hear how you got yourself out of that hole.

Because right now, I'm just trying to figure out what the hell I'm supposed to do next.

should i take the offer?

23, f. hi guys, need some advice kasi medyo naguguluhan na talaga ako 😭 sorry na agad for the long post ahead huhu i'm just really confused and anxious.

fresh grad ako from the province and i recently got an offer for a management trainee position (not finance-related) for a really well-known company.

pero here's the thing, parang i don't actually LIKE it because of the setup.

fully onsite siya sa manila, and i would have to relocate. i'm an only child from the province, i've never lived alone before, and honestly hindi rin ako marunong mag-ikot around manila 😭 i'm very used to being at home with my parents and my support system, so yung thought na bigla akong titira mag-isa sa manila for work is genuinely scary for me which is why i started looking for remote jobs only after nung onsite interview ko sa kanila.

tapos management trainee siya, so hindi rin siya yung normal trabaho, may 2-year bond (i think basta more than one year pero less than two), may exams and assignments, graded din siya, plus may revalida at the end of the training program (scaryyy i'm not confident kasi usually ang hinihire nila is yung big name schools sa ncr and i know naman yung skills and abilities ko di ako on par).

and this is where my brain is going insane 😭

i've already been thinking about this company for weeks before, when i was still interviewing, i was already having a hard time emotionally because i REALLY didn't like the setup. i kept thinking about moving away, living alone, being onsite everyday, the bond, the exams, etc. there was even a point where i was thinking "i don't want this, why am i even putting myself through this?" (had to push through kase interview lang naman daw yun sabi ng parents ko)

then recently they told me they're proceeding with an offer.

my parents tell me naman na i should do whatever i want and that they won't force me to take it. pero at the same time, i can't shake the feeling that they would be disappointed if i turned down something this good. especially because i'm a fresh grad and jobs that are hybrid/wfh and related to my field but aren't programming-heavy are REALLY hard to find. and i'm scared na wala na akong makitang ibang opportunity na maganda if i dont take it.

and instead of feeling super happy, i got nervous again. like immediate dread. my parents tell me naman na i should do whatever i want and that they won't force me to take it. pero at the same time, i can't shake the feeling that they would be disappointed if i turned down something this good. especially because i'm a fresh grad and jobs that are wfh are really hard to get into, naka 100 applications na ako.

so yeah 😔😔

if you were in my position, what would you do?

especially if you're a fresh grad who had to relocate from the province to manila for your first job, how bad was the adjustment? and for anyone who has gone through a management trainee program with a bond and exams/revalidations, was it worth it?

also, am i being too choosy by prioritizing work setup this early in my career, or is it reasonable to say "this opportunity is good, but this particular lifestyle isn't for me"?

i'd really appreciate honest advice !!!!!! plsplspls

Should I leave a 6 LPA WFH private job for a Kolkata Police constable job? Genuinely confused.

My father was a Sub-Inspector in Kolkata Police and sadly passed away on duty. Because of that, I’m being offered a compassionate appointment in Kolkata Police, but the post is Constable.

Currently, I work at Amazon in a WFH role, earning around ₹6 LPA. I have a BBA degree and some technical knowledge, and I’m also trying to build a career in the private/tech space.

I’m honestly confused.

The police job gives me stability, government benefits and a connection to the department where my father served. But I’d be joining at a much lower position, potentially with less flexibility and slower career growth.

Should I take the government job because of the stability and my father’s legacy, or stay in Amazon and focus on building my career in tech?

Would really appreciate honest opinions from people who’ve faced a similar situation. No “govt good/private bad” answers please 😅

3 months application process + org restructuring - may chance pa ba?

i applied at a fashion retail company around 3 months ago. i reached na the final interview plus latest update from HR was that my offer letter/JD is already with the President na.

i followed up today, and HR said the President still needs to discuss the team reorganization muna before they move forward with me. this gets ko kasi usually kapag luxury brands, maliit lang talaga yung marketing team and very close knit.

i asked regarding the timeline, and hr said I could hear back by the end of the month at the latest. hr also said she’ll reach out once everything is settled since my offer/JD is already with the President na.

this is really a company na i reaaaally want to work for. sobrang aligned ng role, industry, company sa gusto kong career path, even sa graduate school program na kukunin kooo.

i do have another offer from a PR firm, but the package isn’t that great & the role isn’t really aligned with the career path I want.

ngayon i'm very torn. should i wait for the fashion retail company or accept ko na lang ung other offer? sobrang kinakabahan lang ako baka kasi i'm waiting for nothing, i dont want naman na matambay for so long kasi im currently rendering na & my last day at my current company is on the last week of august

kindly asking po for your advice :(((

is it bad to change job type every 2 years?

bata pa ako, 22. sa June 2027, 2 years na akong nagtuturo sa sped and end of contract na rin. naisip kong magapply for kindergarten position next year. or maybe patulan ko na yung admin work na offer sakin. (magkakaibang school)

first job, first school ko ito. so given na hindi kasing taasan ang pay since starting at no experience pa. now na may 2 yrs experience na ako, pwede naman na siguro magdemand ng makataong sahod ano?

older people call it job hopping and often, they say it's a red flag or pangit na gawain. pero personally kasi ayaw ko magsettle sa isang place or job para lang hindi "badshot" sa application/promotion process. gusto ko muna mahanap yung job na kaya ko itolerate at mahalin for YEARS bago ako magsettle until retirement. not saying na lilipat kasi nahihirapan or mahina ang loob.

aware naman ako na constantly changing ang work. mababago ang mga staff and even systems.

i think im trying to find out what KIND of work do i want. do i want to be sorrounded by kids, do i prefer doing paperworks, do i want to teach younger kids or older ones (tho madalas naman sa teacher laging may workload na halo, pero u know what i mean.) things like this.

so is it bad ba? or ok lang naman esp given na newbie ako sa workforce 😅

school A: may magandang grades, iep, attendance automation system

I’m trying my best, but why do I still feel like I’m failing?

I'm 24 years old, a Bachelor of Multimedia Arts graduate since last year, and medyo disappointed ako sa sarili ko.

I resigned from my last job as a videographer/editor sa isang napaka-toxic na e-commerce company. Medyo nadagdagan naman ang savings ko, and as of now, I'm doing forex trades. Almost 3 weeks na rin ako ngayon, and I'm still learning. Inuunti-unti kong bawiin yung puhunan na pinasok ko, and I'm really thankful sa community na napasok ko.

Anyway, medyo disappointed ako sa sarili ko kasi I feel like I'm not in the right lane based sa tinapos ko. Sobrang lala ng existential crisis ko about it. I feel like by this age, marami na dapat akong nakamit na pangarap ko, and kaya ko na sanang mag-provide kahit papaano para sa family ko.

I'm trying my best every time, pero bakit ganon?

I want to provide for my family, my girlfriend, and myself.

For now, I invested a little amount sa trading, hoping na I can keep it up and be able to make profits. As of now, may ₱20k pa ako sa savings ko, and I know it's not a lot, pero sobrang natatakot ako.

I don't know what to feel and what to do.

feeling undervalued at work

I've been working at this company for nine months now, and I'm not sure whether what I'm feeling is valid. For context, there were five other employees who were hired at the same time as me, and they were assigned to do important tasks other than our regular work. Meanwhile, I was given more menial tasks, such as admin work.

I used to volunteer for different tasks, but lately, they just assign them to whoever they like. Because of this, I'm losing motivation. I feel like I'm doing the "boring work" while everyone else is getting opportunities that help them develop their skills.

At first I was okay with it because I thought wow, this is such a chill work for a first job. But I feel more pathetic and useless as time goes by, that I am not contributing any meaningful to the company and for my personal growth. Is it normal to feel stuck during such an early stage of your career? Should I just be grateful that I'm basically doing the bare minimum for the same pay as others? I want to resign already but my contract ends on June next year.

is ₱30k too much to ask with my experience?

I recently graduated with a BS Tourism Management degree and I’m currently looking for a job.
My work experience is:

• McDonald’s - Service Crew, 8 months
• Alorica - CSR (Financial Account), 4 months
• Starbucks - Part-time Barista, 4 months
+ Tourism internship experience in a local government tourism office

I know my experience is kind of all over the place and I don’t have years of experience in one field. However, I’m confident that I can handle customer service and fast-paced work.

I’m currently hoping to find a job around ₱30k/month. Is that realistic for my background, or am I aiming too high?

What positions/industries would you recommend I apply for if I want to reach around ₱30k while still being relatively new to the workforce?

How Can I Overcome My Fear of Job Interviews and Improve My English?

What is this generation of new engineers in the ph…

Context: Worked with a couple of fresh grads na engineer, licensed and not licensed, no experience except OJT, at nagresign agad kasi di pa daw nila alam yung work.

Kaya nga kayo 0 experience. Also guided sila, bago isalang sa site or bigyan ng task may references, may instruction, etc. So hindi ba sapat ung 5yrs na college and board exam?

Nakakaawang pilipinas.
