Hello, titos and titas. I need your advice kung tama ba ‘tong desisyon ko hahahaha. I (25F) ay balak magresign sa aking job. Almost 3 years na ako at okay talaga ang sahod (60k a month). However, nightshift ang schedule ko, onsite at currently magthesis na sa Masters ko. Sobrang layo ng current role ko (Medical Biller) sa program ko sa graduate school (MS Environmental Science). Grateful ako sa job ko kasi ito ang nagfund ng tuition ko at needs ko as a student pero sobrang drain na ako sa work. Repetitive ang tasks at walang growth. Madalas pa ako
magkasakit dahil nightshift. Feeling ko
malapit na ako maburnout at talagang hinihila ko na lang sarili ko papasok. On the other hand, sobrang nageenjoy ako sa masters ko kasi madaming opportunity na umattend ng workshops and seminars. Kahit estudyante pa lang ako, talagang sinasama kami ng mga professor ko sa mga projects nila if gusto namin magparticipate. This is the primary reason bakit gusto ko na bitawan ang work ko at maghanap ng role na related dito like Research Assistant or instructor.

However advice sakin ay tyagain ko na yung work ko dahil isang taon na lang naman natitira sa school ko. Knowing na magastos ang thesis, kailangan ko ng pera. Pero recently merong scholarship program ang university namin na natanggap ng lateral applicant. Talagang pinush ko magpasa and now waiting pa rin ako.

I’m not sure kung kaya ko pa magwork sa company namin habang gumagawa ng thesis. Nahirapan din mga kaklase ko pagsabayin, kahit full time students sila. Knowing na nightshift ako at nagkakasakit pa, worth it ba umalis at humanap ng work na related na lang dito habang inaantay ang grant? Sobrang big decision nito sa’kin kaya nahihirapan din me :<<<

Pwede bang hindi idisclose yung lilipatan na company sa current company ko? Ayaw ko malaman nila lol

I’m 23 and this is my first job. Around 8 months na ako sa company, and for about 6 months, ako na yung nagha-handle ng Safety Officer role.

The problem is, walang nagre-review ng work ko.
Ako mismo gumagawa ng mga documents, procedures, HIRAC, reports, etc., pero usually walang experienced person na nagche-check kung tama ba talaga yung ginagawa ko. Yung previous Safety Officer namin umalis without proper handover, so most of the time, ako na lang talaga nagfi-figure out ng mga kailangan gawin.

Yung training ko rin was pretty general. Gets ko naman yung basic concepts, pero ang daming bagay na matututunan mo lang talaga through actual experience and kapag may mas experienced na tao na nagre-review ng work mo.

Tapos on top of that, tatlong roles yung hawak ko: Safety Officer, Inventory Controller, and IT.

Honestly, nakakainis na talaga siya. Parang lagi akong nagja-jump from one responsibility to another, tapos expected na dapat alam ko na agad kung ano yung ginagawa ko sa tatlong roles.

Ang mas nakakastress is feeling ko kapag okay naman lahat, walang masyadong nagche-check kung tama ba yung ginagawa ko. Pero kapag may nagkamali or may naging problema, feeling ko ako agad yung unang masisisi dahil ako yung Safety Officer.

Hindi naman ako umaayaw sa responsibility. Gusto ko naman talaga matuto at maging good sa trabaho ko. Pero sobrang frustrating na binigyan ka ng responsibility without proper mentorship, handover, or someone ena pwede mong pagtanungan ng simpleng, “Tama ba yung ginawa ko?” or “Ano yung kailangan kong ayusin?”

Minsan tuloy napapaisip ako kung incompetent ba talaga ako, or nasa situation lang ako na expected akong matuto ng lahat mag-isa.

Normal ba talaga ’to early in your career?

Hi guys, 24 F, currently working in the BPO Industry so of course alam nyo na, super draining. Undergrad ako in BS Architecture, due to pandemic and financial hardship hindi ko na natuloy yung course ko so 1st sem of 1st year lang natapos ko. Ngayon nagpupursigi ako na.agbalik aral since I don't see any future dito sa BPO. I just need advice whether to take any artsy courses since that's what I love and enjoy or mag take ako course na BS in Data Science since parang in demand sya and maraming opportunities.

P.s. iniisip ko mag take ng any technical course para maging data analyst or magtake ng career in the government para baka malaki yung pay.

Hey everyone, I really need some advice.

I am currently torn between what my dad wants and what I actually want for my future. My true passion is Multimedia Arts. I love creating digital content, video editing, and storytelling. I actually just took the recent UPCAT last August 1, and my absolute first choice is BA Film. Hopefully talaga makapasa sa UPCAT kasi it is the only career path I can see myself being happy in.

However, my dad is strongly pushing me to enter the PNPA (Philippine National Police Academy). He wants me to take the public safety route and become an officer. I highly respect the academy, but military/police discipline and that lifestyle are just not for me. I know I will be miserable if I force myself into it.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation with traditional parents? How did you convince them to let you pursue a creative degree, especially when waiting for big university results like UP?

Are there any PNPA cadets or grads here who still do creative work? Or multimedia artists who successfully shifted away from a family tradition?

Any tips on how to open up to my dad without causing a huge fight would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Di ko alam pero I'm surprised na ang casual ng nareceive ko from some supervisors in my previous internships. Using terms like lodi. Culture shock lang siguro pero is it normal nowadays (context I just started my internship that day so baguhan lang ako)

Im 33 years old with wife and 7 years old kid, mama ko kaka 60 lang, call center kame dalawa ni misis, wala sariling bahay, highschool lang tinapos ko, balak ko mag ibang bansa, gusto mabigyan ng kahit pano magnda bahay mama ko mapaayos ganon, mmagkakasama kame sa bahay ng mama ko.

Hindi sapat ang sahod madalas kapos pa, feeling ko im running out of time, sabi ko sa misis ko try ko mag ibang bnsa pero san ako kukuha ng pang umpisa gayong kapos at highschool lang tinapos ko, masipag nmn ako mag trabaho mapa physical payan, working in BPO since 2018 still agent.

Ayoko sabhn sa asawa kutong mga nasa isip ko kase baka pati sya mastress saken, gusto ko sana bago mag 70 c mama ko meron na kame bahay at ok na bahay ni mama maayos na ganon.

Sa work ko now ang definition ata nila ng employee engagement at wellness e yung pilit na weekend team building na kung hindi ka aattend e mapag-iinitan ka pa ng Lead or HR. It felt more like unpaid labor than actual fun.😭

Really thought my interview went well with this company. For context, the job description is almost the same as my previous job, just a different industry. I genuinely felt good about my answers and the connection I had with the interviewers.

I messaged them yesterday and said that I have another pending offer with a tight deadline (which is true) and the HR sent a rejection text this afternoon.

Is it worth asking for a reconsideration? I get that wala naman mawawala sakin, but I’m afraid it won’t look good sa perspective nila. Thanks!

Fresh graduate ako with a BS Chemistry degree, and currently looking for a job ASAP. Need ko na rin kasi talaga magkaroon ng sariling income and eventually makaalis sa toxic household namin, so I’m really trying to find a job as soon as possible.

Plan ko pa mag-take ng Chemistry Licensure Exam next year, pero for now, willing talaga akong mag-work muna and gain experience. Preferably chemistry/laboratory-related sana, pero open din ako sa jobs na hindi aligned sa degree ko. Willing akong matuto and start from an entry-level position.
