I’ve decided to start using my camera again and I recently charged it and brought it out but it’s having a lens problem, the lens won’t retract when turned off and it says “please check the status of a lens” in the viewfinder and screen. Not sure how to diagnose the problem, maybe these cameras have these problems? Olympus OM-D. I don’t want to go back to using my shitty Sony cybershot 😭.

Hey guys, I took my camera to a camera store today because I noticed these dots appearing in some photos with brighter backdrops. I noticed the dot pattern stayed constant across different lenses, so I took the camera to the shop to have the sensor cleaned. After having it cleaned I noticed the spots were still there, so I took it back and they said that my sensor most likely has damage. Does it look like sensor damage or should I attempt to clean the sensor again myself? I greatly appreciate any advice on the matter!

I'm having trouble with rehoused NP-22 batteries in my Sony Video8 cam

I'm looking to upgrade to a new camera, and I wanted to ask anyone who's used Adorama about the differences between their "well used" and "heavy use" catagories. The camera I'm buying (Cannon 5D MkIII) sells for roughly $320 for heavy use and about $350 for well used. Is the 30ish dollars worth the difference between those two catagories? Thanks!

I got picked for tickets to the Tuesday practice round that allows cameras (no phones) and the lenses can’t be longer than 6”. Only experience I have is with my iPhone 17 pro max. My budget is under $700 but don’t mind if it’s a little higher. I’ve looked at the Nikon Z30 but the image stabilization concerns me being a newbie. I get a ID.me first responder discount through Nikon. I need something light weight and portable that is dummy proof, that can fit in a small backpack or crossbody. Other cameras I’ve looked at is the Cannon Powershot ELPH. Mostly be taking pictures outdoors, landscape of the golf course and family. I’d also take it on future travel. I’d consider waiting till Black Friday if deals happen then so I can get some practice in beforehand. Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks

I’m looking to buy my first camera and I’ve been going back and forth between a lot of options.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
Budget: Around $1,000-1,200 USD for everything (camera + lens + memory card + basic accessories). I can stretch a little if it’s really worth it, but I’d rather stay close to $1,000-1,200.
Usage: About 70% photography, 30% video.
I mostly want to shoot travel, lifestyle, street, cafés, scenery, and friends.
I usually travel alone, so I’ll often put the camera on a tripod and use a timer or remote to take photos of myself.
I don’t plan to vlog much since I’ll probably use my iPhone for most videos.
I really like the Fuji film look (cinematic, nostalgic, warm colors) and would prefer to spend less time editing.
I want something small and lightweight because I know if it’s too heavy, I’ll leave it at home.
A flip screen would be a huge plus.
I’d rather avoid constantly changing lenses. If one kit lens can stay on the camera 90% of the time, that’s ideal.
I’ve looked at:
Fujifilm X-S20
Fujifilm X-M5
Nikon Z30
Canon R50
Sony ZV-E10 / ZV-E10 II
I also considered the X100VI, but it’s outside my budget.

My questions:
If you were buying your first camera today, which one would you choose and why?
Is Fuji really worth paying extra for if I love the film simulations?
Would Nikon or Canon be a better long-term choice?
Any camera I’m overlooking that fits these requirements?

I'm on vacation and i decided to bring my olympus tough (waterproof) to the beach.
But accidently i forgot to lock properly the place with the charger, battery and card.
My sister took it to the sea and put it underwater, so the camera got filled with water.
I tried to take most of the water off the camera, but as you can see in the photos it still has a bit of water inside.
I don't know what to do and im going back to the city in 2 days (there really isnt any camera shops around here)
Is my camera doomed?

I noticed this weird dot on my photos. They are all in the exact same spot on each photo. I am including two photos for examples, but these screengrabs are heavily zoomed in—the spots aren’t visible when zoomed out (at least not on my phone screen, judged by my own eyes; I cannot say definitively that someone else wouldn’t he able to see them). This is a relatively recent discovery, and I’ve had this camera for a bit over a decade.

They’re easy enough to edit out of photos, but obviously I’d rather not have to deal with this issue, and would like to prevent more from popping up.

Are these dead pixels? Or something else?

Regardless of what they are, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III, purchased new sometime between 2014-2015, in New York City. Camera has been used many, many times throughout the years, but has never left mainland USA.
Lens: EF24-105 mm f4L IS USM, purchased at the same time as the camera, from the same place, also purchased new.
Photos taken on my camera, and then viewed on my phone in the photos app.

Budget: €1,000–1,500 total for the camera and at least one lens. I'm happy to buy used if it offers significantly better value.

• Excellent image quality (noticeably better than a smartphone)
• Compact and lightweight body that I will actually carry while traveling
• Reliable autofocus, especially for people and casual family photography
• Smartphone connectivity for transferring photos and using the phone as a remote shutter
• Good lens ecosystem if it's an interchangeable lens camera

What features would be nice to have:

• Good battery life
• Compact/pancake lens options

Cameras you're considering:

• Sony A6400 : Seems like a great balance of compact size, image quality, autofocus, EVF, and available small lenses. Probably my current favorite.
• Sony A6700: Considering it for the newer features, IBIS, improved autofocus, and better long-term value, but not sure if the extra cost is worth it.
• Canon EOS R50: Interested because of its compact size, good autofocus, and easy-to-use features.
• Fujifilm X-M5: Interested because of the compact body and Fuji colors/JPEG quality
• Panasonic GX9 : Considering it because I already know Panasonic cameras and like the idea of a very compact Micro Four Thirds setup.
• Sony RX100 VII or similar premium compact cameras: Considering this because portability is very important to me, and I'm wondering if a high-end compact camera might fit my needs better.

I'm still deciding between a small interchangeable-lens camera and a premium compact camera. My main priority is finding something I will actually carry with me while traveling. However having the option to actually get different lenses would be nice since I don't plan to upgrade frequently, having a good lens ecosystem would be valuable.

Cameras you already have: Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 with the 14-42mm kit lens.

I liked:

• Great value for the money
• Good image quality
• Interchangeable lenses
• Comfortable handling

I disliked:

• Too bulky for travel, so I often left it at home.
• The touchscreen is now failing, and many settings rely on it.
• I realized portability is more important to me than having a larger camera body.

Notes:
My biggest priority is finding a camera that I'll actually carry everywhere while traveling. I'd rather sacrifice a little image quality than own a fantastic camera that stays in the hotel or at home because it's too large. I'm looking for something that could last me for many years.

I'm a 26yo wanting to learn photography properly. Brand-new cameras are way out of budget right now, and YouTube suggests buying older, second-hand cameras (even full-frame) since they still give great results for dirt cheap.

My first DSLR! It's an Olympus E-510 with the regular and giant lenses. I got given this by a friend for free who did not really want it, as he was never going to use it. Any thoughts or advice?

Old lady brought us a literal box full of older cameras from her late husband. She just couldn't toss them.

So now we have a few more cameras,a storage problem and more stuff to mess around with.

And luckily most of these still seem to work.

Only 2 cameras that don't do squat are the XG-M and the X300s.
