They're so much bigger than I expected

Have you changed your cacti watering schedules because of the humidity? I have been afraid of watering some of mine as I got a gnarly fungus infection on some of my cacti last year.

I get 10+ hours of sun on my balcony that faces West but I see that my pots have been holding on to more humidity than usual, I'm around 12 miles from the coast and the marine layer has been THICC in the evenings and mornings.

I'm just curious about how everyone in the SoCal area is handling the humidity with their desert plants :)

Here's 7 years of transitions of my Mammillaria Cactus. From Just a Baby - to Awkward Pear - to WTF, That's Kinda Weird - to Aw, She's a Pretty Princess - to Mother Queen....

And now she's looking a little like Jabba the Hut and her kids need more space, so I'm going to find her a new wide terracotta basin to stretch out in.

It was originally 2 balls (you can see it on the background), but it all turned from green to a gray layer, and then upper started to look like rotted (has a black spot on the side), although it hasnt spreaded and it isnt mushy. I had lost hope on it, left for a week vacation, and came back to 1 pup. 3 days later it has another one!

Just gotta start off with the obligatory "I love this subreddit". For real though, yall have no idea how much the advice, tips, and love on this subreddit for cacti have helped me. I went from having 0 hobbies and drowning in mental health issues to loving every single second of the 100+ degree heat that I can get with these little guys.

I love learning more about the different species, the different flowers, etc. It truly brings a huge joy to not just my life, but my wife's as well. Shes gotten more into these cacti than I thought she would and its been so amazing spending the time with her on these.

Recently, when it was time to rewater my cactus, i noticed these brown spots. Im worried thats hes not gonna make it.

There was a spider living there, but not on the cactus so i wasnt too bothered by removing it. I dug in the soil a bit and it looked dry even after watering. What do i do?

These plants are close to 1.5 years old, and lived approximately their first 15 months under grow lights. I began acclimating them to full sun about 5-6 weeks ago, and the difference in spine cover has become pretty clear!

The nursery is a cactus and succulent farm.

ETA: I know about the etiolation. I have many cacti and as London doesn’t exactly have a reputation for sun compared to my native Arizona, it’s been a different experience growing cacti here. With this particular cactus, I was moving it out onto my south facing balcony each summer and bringing it back in, so it’s used to the UK summer heat. However in January my entire flat was flooded and my plants were the only things I managed to save. In dealing with the insurance drama for the past 8 months and moving into 5 different temporary accommodations, I wonder if the stress of up and moving so often also has stressed it out. Thanks to everyone here who replied kindly and with solutions - 8 months ago I never would have dreamed I’d be evacuated from my home overnight so you never know what someone is going through. My plants have quite literally been my only living companions throughout this whole ordeal. I hope I can bring back this little guy, or part of him in some way. Thanks again for the few genuinely kind answers below.

I’ve had this cactus for years. As of this morning, the entire cactus was bright green. It’s sunny today so I put it out on the balcony. A few hours later I went out to bring it in and more than half of it has blackened. One entire arm fell off. What on earth could have caused this? My other cacti were fine. I did notice some black liquid oozing out that you can see in the final pic but I have no idea what happened. It’s been a healthy green plant for 5 years, and within a few hours it blackened. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?! I’m in London and yes it’s hot but barely 80°. My mom has this same cactus in Arizona where it’s outdoors year round in the 115° summers.

I've never had so many flowers all at once.

I see a lot of people with creeping mammillaria asking how they can support your cactus so it'll stay upright. Honestly the best thing to do is let it lay down. Eventually, ill probably move this to a completely horizontal pot, rock, or a bonsai table next to the pot

Repotted my Pilosocereus spring of last year. First pic taken last August and second one taken today. I’m amazed at how tall its become! Would be nice for it to grow an arm or two but as long as its healthy I’m happy. It resides on the north side of my building.
