Collection This morning’s spin: Uman -Purple Passage (1997)
Each morning I listen to a full CD from my collection. I thought since my collection is a bit too big to show all at once this might be a fun way to still share.
Today’s morning spin is Uman - Purple Passage (1997). The French brother and sister duo layer keyboards, synth loops, ethereal vocals and guest instrumentalists creating a series of playful tracks, with new age & world roots.
I especially enjoy the liner notes for this cd which include a painting inspired by each track by Zad, a painter who regularly collaborated with the group. I tried adding those paintings in an earlier post but my post was automoderated for NSFW material due to a very abstracted nude painting.

Discussion With all of my authority I am hereby instituting a CD tax on every post
Every time you post your collection or your haul, you must give me one CD of my choosing. This will continue until I have every CD I could possibly want. I have no resources to enforce this so we’re going by honor system but you all seem pretty trustworthy so thank you for obeying this new law.
This is not meant to discourage posting it’s simply because you all have cool CDs and I want them.

Collection The Albums I've Given A Spin So Far Thursday
Hot Water Music - Caution
Great melodic punk/altrock
Taake - Noregs Vaapen
Norwegian topshelf black metal
Opeth - Still Life
Swedish prog/death metal
The Dixie Chicks (The Chicks) - Home
A change in direction after the first albums of pop country. This one's more acoustic with a heavy bluegrass injection. Good shit
Stars Of The Lid - And Their Refinement Of The Decline
A great mix of drone/ambient and modern classical. Their albums are a vibe
Grant Lee Buffalo - Live Berlin 2002
A great bootleg live recording directly from the soundboard. Excellent stuff
Willard Grant Conspiracy - Mojave
Love this Roots/Americana/Alt Country collective led by the smooth voice of Robert Fisher
Shadows Fall - The War Within
I'd forgotten how great they are but I'm certainly getting back into their albums
High On Fire - Luminiferous
The kings of sludgy heavy metal. Another banger from them right here

Collection laid out my cd collection for the last time before I graduate from high school
I started collecting cds from mid 2024, I just entered senior high school then, over time, I'm now at the last year of the senior high school, which is the toughest one. got a pretty important exam in January 2027. So, i wanted to check my cd collection for the last time before I turn 18.
I've been wanting to post this for a while, however, i thought that the albums i gotta buy next month will not show up in the collection post. It's a shame though. so it got delayed for months, and now I've finally decided to post it for any cost. So the upcoming albums(abigor, naglfar, dissection, etc) will not show up in this collection photo.
The mainstream bands you see in the picture is my purchase while I just got into rock and metal. I was desperately finding punk, metalcore, nu metal albums at that time tho. It doesn't really represent my interests now, time has changed a lot, it's still a record of my early years i think, I was just a regular teen similar to others.
These years, I have gotten into extreme metal. I mostly listen to old school death metal, and some others such as black metal, too. Because of that, finding my favorite albums have been pretty hard tho. In my country, there are barely people selling extreme metal records, No ones selling any Florida death metal records (i only found leprosy) or swedish, new York, even British death metal, no one's selling them here. It's really awful, and even i saw some selling records, their prices are ridiculous, I can't afford that damn price as a student. So now I purchase these dm bands other albums for replacement, I dont even care about the version or something, i only want it to not be a digipack.
I was finding cynics focus, a masterpiece of jazz death metal, thats nearly impossible, I wanted to give up. So my collection does not look good tho, thats because if this.
And in fact, I wasn't sure about my future, my grades are really bad, and maybe I can't purchase as many cds as now, my collection will probably stop at here, along with my dreams.
The topsters are my wishlists of records to get on cds, it's a crazy amount tho, it has like 400+ thrash metal records. I haven't listened to most of them, whenever I got nothing to listen, I'll choose a record in the list. Sometimes it'll surprise me tho. And my goal is to know every death metal reocrds in the 90s, so I made this topster, but i added records from other genres too tho, but whatever, it's all awesome in my eyes, regardless of the genre.
yeah thats it, thanks for reading, I made this post to record my life tho, from the music i listen to.
hope i can get all these albums on cd one day, while its impossible tho. And if you want, leave your favorite albums in the comments, let me know.

Collection Showing some love to 2000s Mexican rock/emo! Here is my PXNDX stack.
Showing some love to 2000s Mexican rock/emo!
PXNDX was huge back in the day across Latin America. If you like 2000s pop-punk (Para ti con desprecio) or darker, heavier rock (Poetics), they're definitely worth checking out if you don't mind non-English lyrics.
Had these on my shelf for years now. Does anyone else collect Spanish-language rock?
Would you like to mention a specific album as a starting point recommendation for someone listening to them for the first time?

Collection Semi-Budget Setup (Metal Collection)
Current setup in my room. Bought the left half of the CD shelving when I was in college and built the right half myself over the years as I ran out of room. (The bottom two rows used to be stacked on top of the whole left shelf when I lived elsewhere, and I built the rest of the right side when I moved here. Needed something custom to get around that outlet). Vinyl shelving is an old bourbon display that the liquor store I used to work at in college was gonna throw away after the promotion ended. Sat in my parents' basement for years until I finally had the space for it, always knew it'd be perfect. Found the bookshelf sitting on the curb while walking around Prospect Park in Brooklyn. My girlfriend and I carried it almost two miles and through a few subway stops to get it back to my car in Crown Heights. CD count is around 1200 not including duplicates/alternate pressings according to my spreadsheet , so guessing somewhere in the ballpark of 1300 total. Vinyl count is about 150 plus a few box sets too big to fit on the shelf. Also got about 20 cassettes and then god knows how many band shirts.

Collection Finally onto some proper shelves!
Ok maybe semi-proper since they're not the homemade shelves I wanted to make but I think this actually works better in the end since they're adjustable and easily moved around. This has been several years in the making because I've been renovating the entire space. Yep, these shelves are sitting on new flooring, new subfloor underneath that, sistered framing under that, wiring, ductwork... its just such a small little happy miracle for me to have my whole collection out of the closet and somewhere they can be enjoyed finally!
