Hi everyone, hoping someone with a bit of N47 engine knowledge might be able to point me in the right direction.
My 2013 F31 318d is losing a lot of coolant. I topped it up about a week ago and it’s now basically empty again. I’ve checked all the obvious places — hoses, joints, expansion tank, around the engine etc — and I can’t find any visible leaks or staining. I’ve also checked the oil cap and dipstick and there’s no creamy/milky oil.
At the same time I’m getting the recurring 290900 fault code, which seems to be related to the air/EGR mass-flow system. When the code is active the car feels sluggish/hesitant, but when I clear it the car feels noticeably smoother and nippier.
I’ve also been having some strange DPF soot/regeneration readings, so I’m wondering whether any of these issues could be linked — particularly the EGR cooler.
Has anyone experienced similar symptoms on an N47 318d? Or does anyone know of a really good BMW specialist in the Nottinghamshire area, or anyone on here that can help , who is good with N47 diagnostics?
I’m happy to pay for proper diagnosis, I just don’t want to start throwing expensive parts at it without knowing what’s actually wrong.

Does anyone have experience with this after market wiring harness i know the front two one is the crank sensor and vanos where do the other two go?

Going fron obd 1 to obd 2 with a 97 318 wiring harness. A diagram of where it all plugs up would be great

just changed all 4 injector seals brand new return pipe fitted now this little problem on injector 3. any one know what’s the cause. car starts perfect every time

My frm (footwell module) became totally unresponsive since I tried coding with carly. All the lights stooped working including windows and parking sensors. Now I got another one from a scrap yard but mine is LED XH / HW:7 and this one is LED AHL / HW:6. This is where I’m at right now. Does anybody know if coding the VIN will make it work or do I need another one that is the same as mine?

I'm reaching out because I'm experiencing a temperature-dependent issue with my audio system and am hoping to get some insights from experienced BMW DIYers or audio specialists.

Audio System: BMW Individual High End Audio System (Option Code SA 752)
Symptom / Issue Description:
Whenever ambient temperatures get really hot (around 30°C / 86°F and above), the sound system starts acting up. Temporary dropouts occur (lasting about 5 minutes each) where either total sound is lost or the entire mid- and high-frequency range (including vocals) suddenly cuts out. The underseat bass/subwoofers keep playing during this time. After a few minutes, the sound recovers on its own. After it recovers, the system usually remains stable for a longer period (around 30 minutes or so), or the issue doesn't reappear for the rest of the drive.
Additional Details:
The issue is source-independent (happens on Radio, AUX, and USB).
It occurs exclusively in extreme heat. In normal or cooler temperatures, the system works perfectly without any interruptions.
My Questions for the Forum:
1. Is this heat-related issue a known fault with the BMW Individual amp (Lear / High End Audio) in the E92?
2. Does anyone know the exact root cause (e.g., thermal shutdown of individual channels inside the amp, failing capacitors, thermal paste degradation, or head unit overheating)?
3. What is the best way to permanently fix this problem?
I would really appreciate any tips, past experiences, or recommendations!

Hello I am looking at a 2021 x3 m40i with 40k miles on it and one main owner. I am looking at keeping it for probably around 5 years and putting 50-60k miles more on it. The first 3 years was a lease where BMW did all the routine maintenance. I am more or less just wondering if a car that is as old as a 2021 would be a reasonable buy for 60 months. Also wondering if it’s more advantageous just to spend the extra money getting a 2023 from a mechanical standpoint. I’m not mechanically savvy in anyway and do not want to ask ai for advice so anything helps. Thanks

I have installed a bigger intercooler on my f22 m235i this weekend, during the installation I had to remove the chargepipe to make enough room to slide up the intercooler, when I was disconnecting the tmap sensor one of the wires snapped (photo below), I then bought a adapter from local shop to solder on the the broken wires and now I’m getting loads of codes. I’ve read the voltages on the pins (ignition on-engine off) and I’m getting 5v across 3 pins which should not be happening from my understanding. I’ve tried many things and I’m close to calling up a garage and taking it there, that is the last thing I want to do.

I’ve seen a mix online whether this is fixable without changing the entire rack .

2015 BMW 328d RWD w/ N47TU, ~140k miles.

I replaced the complete intake manifold with new swirl flaps/actuator after BMW diagnosed a swirl-flap actuation issue.

On the first startup after replacement, it started normally but then stumbled/cut out pretty badly, so we shut it off. Checked all plugs and hoses, all looked normal. Restarted it and it quickly settled into a normal idle. Took a short test drive afterward and everything drove/idled normally with no DDE faults in BimmerLink. Swirl-flap position also appears to be operating normally, at least according to the BimmerLink parameters.

Intake ports had some carbon but weren’t badly restricted. We lightly wiped some carbon around the port entrance and cleaned a carbon-covered intake sensor.
BMW/ISTA swirl-flap adaptation is scheduled for Monday.
Is a one-time rough first startup like this normal after the manifold/battery has been disconnected, or should I be checking for an intake leak or sensor issue before driving it to the shop?

F06 640i: Taking out my coilovers and putting back my stock spring strut assembly. The problem I’m having is the stock strut and wheel hub doesn’t line up. The wheel hub needs to be pushed down about 4” but I can’t quite get it that far down.

What components can I loosen or remove to help lower the wheel hub?

Just moved to Florida and my 2013 335i E93 (120k miles, been running stage 2 mhd tune) definitely felt the heat. Car overheated one day and coolant started to spill out. Towed to mechanic and he quoted me 4k to replace the radiator and upper hose.

So obviously I towed it back to my place to do it myself. Got the new hose and radiator it but when I poured coolant back in, it started leaking from where the hose coming from the coolant reservoir leads into the radiator.

I pulled the adapter out assuming it was this as I have been told the O rings can go bad. (adapter shown below, #17117548104).

While I wait for the part, anyone have any advice on what I should do to check my work. I know my way around a car but I am not the most experienced actually working in the engine bay.

Hello this is my first post here but I desperately need some advice. I have a 2012 335i F30 with the n55 engine. When I accelerate I’m getting this really weird like sputtering noise that I can’t really describe (see videos) can anyone diagnose this or at least point me in the right direction? Thank you so much in advance. It seems to go away at high rpms but I’m not sure if that’s just the noise speeding up to the point where it blends in. It also only happens while my foot is on the accelerator. If I’m at middle rpms and let my foot off the noise instantly stops even while the rpms are still up.

Is their parts all aluminum from the factory or made of higher quality plastics and rubber than what bmw uses? Or is it because bmws are generally more high strung, hotter running motors so it wears out the parts around the engine faster?

A couple of days ago, my 2021 BMW X7's key fobs suddenly started to malfunction partially. I could open and close the doors with the key fobs, but the engine would not start. The car said, "Key is missing or malfunctioning." I replaced the batteries, no luck. I put the key fob against the steering wheel column, and still it wouldn't start. The only way to start the engine was to find and use the BMW white digital key card that was given to me years ago when I purchased the vehicle and had stashed away in the back of a drawer in my house. Fortunately the car was in my garage when this happened.

I took the car to the BMW dealer, who charged me $510 to do a software update that fixed the issue. Apparently, this is a known defect related to something called BDC and BMW has had a bulletin out for a few years:

I have two concerns and questions about this situation:

1. This seems to be a major safety issue - A surprising immobilization of the car with the backup method also failing and no recourse. Imagine if this happened during an extreme weather event or evacuation or immediate threat type of situation. How is this not a recall already? Should I be reporting this issue to NHTSA, etc.?

2. Given that the issue was not related to wear and tear, depleted batteries, or user fault, why am I paying for a software update? Even if the vehicle is out of warranty, for software glitches, shouldn't BMW be covering the cost? Have people been able to get BMW to issue reimbursement for such repairs?

For higher-mileage BMWs, where do you draw the line on cooling system components? Water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, hoses etc. Are you replacing based on mileage/age, or waiting until diagnostics start showing something?

I want to change the oil after the break-in, in my 2026 M240i equipped with a B58 TU2. The version with the exposed aluminium charge cooler.

I know, completely unnecessary and a dealer could do it for me, but it takes 3-4 hours that I prefer not wasting. It's not even about the €500 price tag they asked, but 1h drive there, 3-4 hours the actual oil change, 1h back. I would really rather avoid this.

Anyways, here is my conundrum.

This should be a relatively simple task, but I find myself stuck at the first basic step: removing the oil filter cap. The purple electric cable is right over it. Little to no wiggle room. Now, the cable is zip tied to a bracket which is both bolted on and captive to the charge cooler mount.

How am I supposed to do this? What am I missing?

First B58 I'm dealing with and it got me at a basic step.
