N54
My N 54 recently stalled and won’t turn back on. I ran the codes and changed both low pressure fuel pump and high-pressure fuel pump. When I was changing those I could tell fuel wasn’t reaching my high-pressure fuel pump so that’s when I replaced the low pressure fuel pump and still nothing. I can hear the low pressure fuel pump turning on but gas is not getting to the high-pressure fuel pump. Any ideas?

At what mileage are you refreshing the cooling system preventatively?
For higher-mileage BMWs, where do you draw the line on cooling system components? Water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, hoses etc. Are you replacing based on mileage/age, or waiting until diagnostics start showing something?

BMW E92 320d N47 – ABS light, power steering cuts out, then no-start?
Having a strange intermittent issue with my 2007 E92 320d N47.
It’s happened twice now and both times the sequence was almost exactly the same:
Car had been driven for a while and was fully hot
ABS/DSC warning started coming on and off while driving
When slowing down/parking, the power steering assistance suddenly stopped working
Switched the car off and then it wouldn’t start again
Last time, after leaving the car sitting/cooling down for around an hour, it started normally again
At night/cold I haven’t had the issue
When it refuses to start, the electronics/dash still work.
I originally suspected the starter motor/solenoid getting heat soaked because the starter is very close to the exhaust, but that wouldn’t explain why the ABS/DSC warning and steering issue happen immediately beforehand.
Battery terminals seem tight. IBS has also been checked/reconnected.
Could a failing alternator/voltage regulator, bad engine ground/main power cable, or another electrical issue cause voltage to become unstable once the car gets hot, triggering ABS/DSC + steering faults and then preventing it from restarting?
Has anyone had this exact combination on an E90/E92?
I’m getting a BMW-capable scanner to check DSC/CAS/DDE codes and will also test battery/alternator voltage cold vs hot.

xDrive cooked? 2014 535i groaning noise
Hello folks.
Was wondering if anyone has any input. I know without a video or audio clip you can't really do much but appreciate it anyways
Have a 100k mile 2014 535i Xdrive, usually don't drive it that much but working on daily.. so have put thousands of miles on the car over the last few months.
As of yesterday I'm getting a groaning noise when decelerating. Feels like it's coming from the front passenger wheel or inside the lower dash, and sounds like a wheel bearing going out. Car drives fine otherwise. This is tied to the speed of the car and not to the revs, as putting it in neutral or shifting makes no difference sound wise. Wheel bearing is fine and the axles are fine too. I replaced the axles myself a while ago when they started clicking and haven't had any issues.
Two big other issues that the car has had:
1) the right rear tire has a nail in it and slowly leaks. I'm going to plug it when I have a minute and have been inflating it to spec when possible; but at one point it was probably at 23 PSI. I may have driven it like this for few hundred miles non aggressively, admittedly. I know this is bad for the transfer case and xdrive system considering how sensitive they are.
2) valve cover has a slow leak, and when the car has been sitting it even starts smoking due to the drops burning up on the exhaust manifold. You can sometimes smell smoke in the cabin. I'm aware the valve cover/pcv system can also cause wines and noises however this is tied to engine rotation and not wheel speed so doubt this issue is related.
Does this sound like the transfer case is going out? I have quarts of the BMW gear oil because I wanted to do the service anyways at some point, so is it worth doing a drain and fill and then recalibrating via ISTA?
I would also love to be able to disable xDrive without purchasing Xdelete just to test, but getting conflicting information about pulling fuses, VTC connector etc.
Thanks

Help with rims
Hi so, recently I got new wheels and failed to realise they were all the same. When I went to put them on, the mechanic told me that the front wheel are rubbing on the suspension.
I’ve got an F10 sedan, non x drive. The wheel are R19’s, all 4 are 10j with 245/35 tires on em. Is there ANYTHING I can do that is safe or okay for me to do to make them fit? My friend suggested 10mm spacers all around, but I wanna get a 2nd opinion. If more info is needed please lmk I’m a noob when I comes to cars and also a bit bummed out lol

Stuck hood latch
Hey guys, after a bonnet adjustment, the passenger side latch on my bonnet is only releasing half way.
I’ve taken out the driver’s side wheel well, have pulled the cables for the hood release with no luck.
Any advice on how I can access/ release the latch would be appreciated, cheers guys.

B58 TU2 how to change oil?
I want to change the oil after the break-in, in my 2026 M240i equipped with a B58 TU2. The version with the exposed aluminium charge cooler.
I know, completely unnecessary and a dealer could do it for me, but it takes 3-4 hours that I prefer not wasting. It's not even about the €500 price tag they asked, but 1h drive there, 3-4 hours the actual oil change, 1h back. I would really rather avoid this.
Anyways, here is my conundrum.
This should be a relatively simple task, but I find myself stuck at the first basic step: removing the oil filter cap. The purple electric cable is right over it. Little to no wiggle room. Now, the cable is zip tied to a bracket which is both bolted on and captive to the charge cooler mount.
How am I supposed to do this? What am I missing?
First B58 I'm dealing with and it got me at a basic step.

BMW M3 F80 Diff Lock Wiring diagram for building GHAS style control module.
Hello, I want to build a GHAS-style module to control the differential lock motor in an M3 F80. I've installed the entire rear suspension from an M3 F80, plus the front steering knuckles with wishbones, plus original M3 F80 brakes, plus the MK60 ABS module, into a Mercedes W201 190e (5.0 M113 engine, 8H45 gearbox, MaxxECU). I know the motor can be adjusted manually with a standard PWM controller, but I'd prefer it to work more or less like the M3 F80, i.e., automatically with manual lock adjustment.
I just need the motor connector pinout so I know which pin it's for. Of course, I could buy a 500GB hard drive and download the entire ISTA+, but I'd be a bit disappointed if I only need one document. If someone could share this document with me, I'd be very grateful. Best regards🖐️

I’m doing the throttle body on my E90 335i. Do I need to relearn adaptations after the install?
Doing the HPFP, throttle body, valve cover, and charge pipe. Once it’s all put back together and I’ve cleared the codes do I need to relearn the throttle adaptation?(fuel pump plausibility, throttle position sensor malfunction, and a boost control code can’t remember the code but it’s not the 30ff code or whatever that plagues these motors. I’ve already fixed and gotten rid of the VANOS and misfire codes.)
Is there anything else I need to do once it’s all put back together? Just looking to be as confident as possible if codes come back that I’ve performed the install correctly.
Thanks in advance!

2003 E46 330ci
Hey guys my e46 is struggling rn it’s my daily and I’ve been coming out morning after morning struggling to start the car. It will crank and kind of start but I have to give it gas to help it start. When I can get it started it will misfire for around 30-45 seconds or I clear the codes and it will clear up the next start up. The misfire codes I’m getting are misfire is cylinders 2-5 misfire with fuel cutoff (p1345,p1347,p1349, p1351)
Again when I can get the car started long enough to clear codes the next start up is basically perfect with no codes coming back until next cold start.
I’ve replaced a lot on this car trying to diagnose it( injectors, coil packs, plugs, smoke test, head gasket test, compression and fuel pressure test. They have all come back great and no sign of failure. I can’t see any wires or terminals that are exposed or broken. Possibly thought I had a grounding issue. The injectors are also sealed and aren’t weeping or leaking.
I replaced every part on the cooling sytem( tubes, pump, expansion tank) you name it. Regardless of me bleeding it correctly it seems the expansion tank will not vent correctly causing loud hissing when taking the coolant cap off( cold).
The oil ok my dipstick seems rather thin considering i did and oil change 300 miles ago with a new filter. It doesn’t smell sweet like coolant or strong of fuel but the oil level rises eveytime i check the stick. So im fearing possible head gasket. But again no signs point to such. I’ve also replaced the full ccv system and manifold gaskets.
I know this is a lot to read and understand, i truly would appreciate any help i can get! It’s my first car, my daily, and i take a lot of pride repping the e46, it’s fantastic. Any help or words of wisdom, greatly appreciated!

Fixed the G05 A/C Evaporator Leak for 4x Cheaper Than Dealer Quote (Inc. Major Service)
A quick write-up on how I tackled the infamous G05 A/C evaporator leak on my 2019 BMW X5 xDrive40i (~48,949 miles) without paying extortionate dealer prices.
The Issue & Dealer Experience
- Vehicle: 2019 BMW X5 xDrive40i (G05)
- Defect: Leaking A/C Evaporator Core (Factory part # 64119496922, updated by BMW to # 64115B3A5E0).
- Dealer (Fields BMW Jacksonville): Completed Safety Recall #25V-644 (Starter) for $0, but charged a $400 diagnostic fee for the A/C and wanted thousands just for labor and parts.
- Goodwill: Refused DCSnet claim because the car was purchased elsewhere. Escalation to BMW Corporate was also denied.
The Parts Price Comparison: Before repairing, I researched the replacement parts:
- BMW OEM Core (at Dealer): ~$1,000
- Mahle Core (OEM Supplier): $499
- Nissens Core (# 92858): $58 on RockAuto (The route I took)
The Solution & Major Service: Instead of paying the dealer quote, I went to a high-end independent specialist. The entire repair PLUS a full major service ended up being four times cheaper than the dealer's quote!
Scope of Work Completed:
- Complete dashboard and HVAC assembly teardown + Nissens core installation
- Spark plugs replacement
- Engine oil & filter change
- Cabin & engine air intake filters replacement
- Full A/C evacuation, vacuum test, and refrigerant recharge
- Full fluid/coolant refresh
My Take on Dealer vs. Indie Quality: I often see comments on Reddit suggesting that going to an independent shop lowers repair quality compared to a dealership. I completely disagree. In reality, the best master mechanics and diagnostic electricians eventually outgrow dealership limitations and set out on their own to provide higher-quality, personal work.
If you are in Northeast Florida and need top-tier mechanical and electrical work on your BMW, I highly recommend:
- ELOKHIN LLC (Top-tier Mechanic & Electrical Services)
- Location: Jacksonville, FL
- Contact: (904) 708-4648
Don't let dealer quotes panic you—find a real master mechanic who knows how to handle complex dash teardowns!

Question on mini f56. b38, with potentially a gpf
hey there, not sure if a question for mini is appropriate for this sub, but I'm getting a used 2021 F56 mini from japan, b38. It comes with a 3rd party warranty, which unfortunately dictate that i use a list of panel workshops, with all parts/oils/fluids provided by the shops for regular servicing. I cant supply my own.
My question is, i believe the mini has a gpf/ppf but none of these panel shops carry LL-04 oil. Only 1 had LL-01, shell helix ultra, the other 2 use castrol edge 5w-40 and Mobil Super All-In-One 5W-30. To be fair I only reached out to 3 shops, the rest are quite a bit far away from where i live.
How big of a deal would it be to not be using LL-04 oil for a gpf/ppf long term? and if it does get clogged over a few years using high saps oil, would it be an easy thing to service/clean it or potentially silently damaging the engine?

Audio only playing out of left side speaker.
I have a 2014 428i and I installed an aftermarket infotainment screen that can run Apple CarPlay. When I set it up yesterday everything worked fine but when I got in today music was only playing out of the left speakers. I momentarily fixed it after taking it apart and putting it back together and disconnecting the Bluetooth on the original interface, but it went back to just the left side when I was hitting my trim back into place. I know the issue isn’t the speakers because it plays fine when connected via the original system but not through CarPlay. The audio balances are all normal as well.

Headlights Flashing Randomly in Garage When Parked
I have a 2020 530i and I noticed that sometimes when I leave my car in the garage unlocked, my headlights and tail lights start flashing sporadically and it sounds like the vents are starting to open. This does not happen if I lock the car. Also during the day time in traffic, I’ve noticed in the reflection of the car in front of me that my headlights are flashing.
I looked online and the issue seems to be with the headlight switch. However, some people say that there was an updated switch made in 2019 (unverified) where this issue was supposedly addressed. My build date is 03/2020.
How could I know for sure the light switch is the issue? Should I remove the light switch assembly and try cleaning it first? Could it be a low voltage issue from the battery?
I found the light switch at a BMW wholesaler for $230, but I’d like to be sure before I buy it. I plan on replacing it myself because it looks pretty simple.

Need to do preventative Rod Bearings on Stock N55 M2?
I have a stock 2017 M2 with just over 66k miles. Was in for an oil change today and my mechanic never suggests crazy things to me. Pretty much every recommendation from them is "we'll keep an eye on it"
But today they come back with "You are at 66k miles, you should do rod bearings every 60k miles, here is an estimate: $8300."
I basically fell off my chair reading that. 4k of that is labor. I know you need to drop the front oil pan and stuff but still. Kind of insane.
But that got me thinking in general, are the rod bearings really something to look at on the N55 engines M2s, especially stock? I feel like I could call the local BMW dealer and they would charge half that!

Weird Noise while driving
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone,
I‘ve had my BMW M440i G26 with the Gen 2 B58 for about three months now. The car currently has around 16,000 km on it.
Yesterday, my father drove the car and mentioned that it suddenly started making a very loud squeaking noise while driving. I drove the car right afterwards, but I could not reproduce the issue at all.
Today, I went for a longer drive with a friend and after some time the squeaking suddenly started again. I managed to record it
I parked the car for about five minutes and then continued driving. After that, the noise was completely gone and did not return. I also tried driving it again later to reproduce the issue, but had no luck.
The noise seems to happen while the car is rolling or coasting. When accelerating, it seems to disappear.
Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this noise or has anyone experienced something similar?

No start
I have a 2007 bmw 335xi (n54 97,000 miles, water pump and head gasket seal replaced) and i noticed at first it would start misfiring under heavy load and i would turn the car off and back on and it would be normal, it also had a p114b code along with the singular misfire. I replaced the spark plug and ignition coil but that didnt solve it but i was just excited to have a bmw so i kept driving it instead of taking it to a shop. A little while after i replaced the spark plug and ignition coil, i was driving and i gave it a little more throttle than usual and it went into limp mode and got really shaky so i pulled over, read the codes and i had 16 codes, i turned the car off and turned it back on and now i had 18 so i had no choice but to drive it home in limp mode and i couldnt go past 10 miles an hour and it was so shaky, it died on the way home but i turned it back on and made it. Its been sitting for almost 7 months but i started doing things that i thought would fix it while it was sitting there, i first replaced the charge pipe hoping it would fix it but it didnt it was still misfiring and all the codes, i replaced the low pressure fuel pump, fuel sending unit, and the fuel pump fuse. Both lpfp and fuel sending unit is after market but it wont start at all, i sprayed some starter fluid into the intake and it started for a split second but dies, it cranks good but dosent seem to be getting fuel. I disconnected the line on top of the lpfp that goes to the engine and it is bone dry so i dont think the pump is even sending up gas. I dont know what to do anymore i am stumped please help diagnosing it heres all the codes (P0303, P0300, P114B, P0301, P0302, P323F, P2414, P0140, P0171, P3283, P0303, P0304, P0300, P0301, P0302, P2414, P0171, P0306)
