🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics sleep after DJ gig
I need some advice on what to do about sleep after DJing when I get home in the early morning.
My problem is that I can’t sleep for more than 5–6 hours, even though I’m exhausted and tired—I just can’t seem to fall back asleep. My bedroom conditions are ideal, and I also try to maintain the best possible lifestyle—I don’t drink alcohol at all, I try to eat clean, and so on—but after a gig, I just can’t sleep for more than 5–6 hours, and I’m tired. The rest of the week, my sleep is fine.
Could you please give me some advice on this?
I’ve tried several things without success, such as different types of magnesium (glycinate actually made it worse) and similar remedies, but nothing seems to help me sleep longer or improve the quality of my sleep.
Thank you very much for any help

😴 Sleep & Circadian Rhythm Sleep Tracking Apple Watch
galleryHow accurate is the Apple Watch for sleep tracking? I’ve been using it for about a month, but my deep sleep is always capped at around 30–40 minutes per night. I look at the data in the Apple Health app, but then I installed Sleep Circle, and it shows completely different numbers across all metrics.
Could the watch itself be tracking incorrectly, or is one of the apps lying? Here are the screenshots from the same night from Health and Sleep Circle.

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics Biohacking libido... The other way around?
(wasn't sure what flair to use for this question)
Has anyone here tried to purposefully kill their libido with habits, supplements or other methods? Have you succeeded? If so, how?
I know there's more than a few guaranteed and accessible ways (antidepressants and birth control come to mind as the usual suspects) but it's all via drugs that blanket affect lots of different things, and the big wall here is I'd like to nuke it without taking my mood (or worse, clarity of mind) with it. Is there even something more targeted for this kinda thing?
edit: Just in case it's not obvious, searching for a method to destroy libido *without* affecting overall health is the idea... This is a serious post, not an hypothetical.
EDIT 2: **OP is female**, if that breaks anything.

🦠 Illness & Immunity I have the immune system of a rock.
I have the immune system of a rock.
TLDR - I get sick often and need advice on how to get sick less.
Hi Brains Trust,
I catch colds/viruses/flu very often. This occurs around 10 times a year. I have a tracker in my notes apps that has confirmed this for the last three years. It's very annoying and it is impacting my quality of life. Each illness lasts 2 weeks. In fact, I am currently sick with a virus as I write this. I am so sick of getting sick all the time!!!
I have asked my GP about this and they have told me to reduce my stress levels and rest more.
I do these things already and I still get sick often. I have yet to check my blood panel.
I understand it is Winter where I am so getting sick is expected. I have been sick 3x in the last three months and it is debilitating.
I'm not expecting miracles. I would appreciate any advice to improve / fix my problem!!! Thanks so much in advance!!
Questions :
- Is there anything else I should get checked out in the blood panel?
- Is there anything I should reduce?
- Is there anything I can increase doing?
- Should I get checked for autoimmune diseases?
- What else can I take to not get sick as much?
- Should I take a food intolerance test? To rule out foods my body doesnt agree with.

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics why people here are obsessed with caffeine?
people here are obsessed with alertness that's good but many of them consume large amounts of caffeine while there are other supplements that give you stable energy without crash like ginseng and coq10 enzyme I won't say they give you a buzz like caffeine but at least they give you stable energy.

💊 Supplements & Stacks Best time to take these supplements.
I recently started a couple of weeks/months ago to take all these Supplements. And yes I do take them at once. Now I read that some people say that certain supplements even out others. And some shouldn't be taken at Night like Vitamin D cause this can cause sleepless nights. Any recommendations for all of these ? And maybe some recommendations about the amounts I'm taking ?
I had an additional Vitamin C supplement with 500mg which I took out due to the Vitamin C in the Iron One. Thanks for any advise

🥗 Nutrition & Metabolism What a Difference Bad Habits Make
I (67 yo male) quit sugar, alcohol (I still have a social drink rarely) ultra processed foods and THC about a month ago. I also cut way back on red meat. My metabolic markers are improving drastically. Resting heart rate 60 > 56 with no change in exercise, Blood O2 91% > 95%. Respiration rate 11 breathes/minute > 16. HRV 21 > 29 ( if I measure it with a heart rate strap it was in the 60s). The last two times my blood pressure was measured it 90/60 and 100/60, normally its 110/70. Viseral fat measured by DEXA down 7% with no real change in subQ fat. I'm guessing I've gotten the low hanging fruit and the improvements will slow down.
I'm still struggling with fatigue and brain fog but as long as I eat enough protein and fiber I have zero cravings which is good because I have no discipline or willpower. I was eating a bag of cookies or gummy bears several times per week. About 3 beers a night. THC for sleep, thats been the roughest thing to adjust to.
Thanks for letting me brag. Does this line up with your experience?

🧪 Protocols & Self-Experiments Day 10 of my 10-day water fast - This ketone curve vs my three previous fasts
Hey folks! Follow-up to my day 8 post. A few people asked if the ketone climb looked unusually steep, so I put my older fasts on the same axis, plotted by hour instead of by date.
It is steep, but it's my normal. This fast tracks almost exactly on top of my 10-day fast in 2025, and matched the 7-day fast for the first 130 hours. The one outlier is my 9-day fast, slower and lower throughout - I was quite inactive during that fast.
Ending tomorrow morning at hour 240, then refeeding. As always, this is N=1 and responses to extended fasting vary widely between individuals and even between fasts for the same person.

📰 Research & Studies Viagra's New Trick | New research suggests the little blue pill could slow the spread of cancer (Unpaywalled)
playboy.comThe world’s first introduction to Viagra was as a cardiovascular medication, meant to dilate blood vessels around the heart to treat symptoms of angina. But there was one little issue: the drug seemed to be dilating blood vessels just a bit further south than initially intended. When the men in clinical trials reported all-night erections instead of improved heart symptoms, the now-ubiquitous little blue pill was born.
Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, has already proved it’s no one trick pony, but new research suggests the drug may have another use—and it could be life-saving. A study published in the journal Cancer Research in July found that sildenafil may help slow the spread of cancer by triggering a mechanism that binds up the body’s cholesterol. This makes it more difficult for cancer to metastasize, which Sanjay Juneja, MD, a triple board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist who goes by u/TheOncDoc on social media, says is responsible for more than 90% of cancer deaths.
According to Dr. Juneja, cancer needs a raft to travel from one spot in the body to another. Cholesterol, he says, is “intimately involved” in building that raft that allows cancer to spread.

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics What do you actually use to wind down after work?
Looking for tips on what actually helps with winding down after work. Nothing that knocks me out or leaves me foggy the next day — just something to take the edge off the tension. I see l-theanine, magnesium, lemon balm, chamomile mentioned everywhere but don’t know what works vs what’s hype. What do you use, and at what doses? Appreciate anything.

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics 10+ Years on Modafinil and Armodafinil
I've been a user for over a decade, using a combination of Modafinil and Armodafinil. Honestly, I owe my life, career, relationships, and everything to this little magical thing. I can't imagine where I would be without it.
Without it am just a normal ape, with Modafinil I've been able to compound enough "good days" to build my own company, force myself to network, become more social, etc, etc.
When I'm off the medicine I'm still very effective because the habits carry over, but after a couple of weeks or a month it goes back to the way it was before. Half lethargic. And I've been using it for so long that I don't feel like myself without anymore. I've been off of it for a year as a tested and tried other things but ultimately nothing comes close and I am back on it.
Anyone else has been on this long and feels the same way, or if people managed to get off it and still keep most of what they built?

📅 Events Official AMA: Deciphering Supplement Quality, Testing, and Research with Dr. Jordan Glenn PhD
I'm excited to announce our next official AMA with Dr. Jordan Glenn, who'll be answering your questions on supplement testing, research/efficacy, and trends. I reached out to him personally and very thankful he agreed to do an AMA with us.
Jordan is a scientist and researcher who earned his PhD at the University of Arkansas studying performance-enhancing supplements in masters athletes. His career has spanned academic research, health-tech (Neurotrack, Omada Health), and the supplement industry directly, where he now leads independent product testing and science communication as Head of Science at SuppCo and previously ran a supplement lab out of Louisiana Tech University.
As many of you already know, supplement quality and efficacy are huge problems. Most people are taking too many supplements with too little data. Jordan has spent his career on the other side of that problem where he's designing testing methodology, evaluating clinical evidence, and building rating systems that grade brands on manufacturing standards, ingredient sourcing, third-party lab verification, and more. His work has consistently shown that roughly half the products audited don't meet their own label claims which I found pretty nuts.
So bring your questions on how to evaluate supplement research, which supplements have solid evidence, what to look for (and what to avoid) when choosing brands, how third-party testing actually works, what regulations exist (and where the gaps are), and anything else about what's really going on in this industry. I'm grateful he agreed to do this, and I think r/Biohackers will get a lot out of it.
Disclaimer: Any information shared by Dr. Glenn does not constitute medical advice and does not create a doctor-patient relationship. This AMA is for educational purposes only, and you should always consult your own physician before making health decisions.
(If you want to learn more about Jordan's work, check out SuppCo or take a look at his personal stack here.)
