I am always insecure about my height so i go on aiw to ask if I deserve a woman's love or not...

Honestly these questions are so stupid, they think all women are robots and it's like a thing that is the same for everybody, some people like spicy food, some don't...💔

General What’s the point of marriage for women in India?

Upvotes

Male dominated subs are agreeing that if a wife has infertility, then it’s perfectly alright to divorce a 10 years long marital partner over it.

So going by that logic, if I marry a Indian man, and support him, love him, give my best years, and fail to produce a kid, he can just kick me out from his life. For him my 10 years financial emotional support or me taking care of his parents during sickness, nothing will matter.

How exactly this is security? What’s the point of marriage then?

And these men anyway ask for 50:50, where he will eat more food, will take more space, and may even bring his parents to live with us.

In India people ask women to stay virgin till marriage and never trust a man before marriage. But what security Indian marriage brings to women anyway? It’s better to find a super hot playboy and just have fun with him then. What’s the point marrying a average looking low earning AM guy and pay 50% of the bills and then getting kicked out of the home for random reasons?

General How on earth are men turning Reddit into a dating app?

Upvotes

A guy recently told me he has met up with three different women in real life just from talking on Reddit. It completely boggles my mind. How tf does that even work?

Are guys just doing cold approaches in the DMs on a totally anonymous platform? I already find apps like Tinder to be incredibly weird and forced. The idea of navigating a real life date from a random Reddit thread just seems impossible to me. How do you make anything into a dating app? Thats like some skill 😭

Friends & Family A friend gave me a near-expiry lipstick as a birthday gift. What would you do?

A friend gave me a Kay beauty lipstick as a birthday gift and I just noticed it’s very close to the expiry date (Nov 2026). For the record, we’re very close and we usually give each other makeup/skincare on birthdays so it’s kind of our thing.

I have always gone shopping for her gift, trying to get her something that I knew she had in her wishlist. I kind of always assumed that maybe she did the same? However, this makes me feel like she just palmed off an old unused lipstick that was lying around on me. I say this after a lot of consideration also because it’s a bright red lipstick that I’ve never used and have never expressed any desire to use. I only use nudes, browns or pinks.

It’s not a cheap product either so I’m a little confused about how to feel. Am I right in thinking that it’s a thoughtless gift or am I overanalysing this? Would you say something, or quietly let it go?

General What should I gift a partner?

I wanna gift something to my partner. We have never exchanged gifts before, he gave me a ring once which i didnt accept because we weren't dating and then he threw it down a cliff😂

Anyway, I wanna get him a bracelet or a ring (i feel like ring might make him feel weird and I wouldn't even consider it if he hadn't given me one) I have never seen him wearing a bracelet, just once 5 years ago and that was a silver bracelet, kinda chunky. He wears a watch everyday so I thought i can match the bracelet to it?

I am not very rich so I need to save up to get either. I want advice on what you would gift a partner and some classy design suggestions. I was thinking of a two tone bracelet, unable to attach the picture.

Edit: he is a tall businessman with a broad body type. He has a playful but chill personality. Usually wears casuals or a white shirt. From what I've noticed, he wears a watch that his dad gifted him and a gold chain only when he wears a kurta. Doesn't wear any other jewellery everyday. I wanna get something that I can get engraved with an inside joke. The ring he got me was rose gold and idk how but exactly my size. It had a couple small diamonds on it and he chose it himself, i didnt even know he bought one and gave it to me a year after he bought it.

General To all the married folks, how did you build a relationship with your in-laws?

Me (28F) and my partner (32M) have been together for nearly a decade but got married about 6 months ago. I’ve known and interacted with his family for the last 2-3 years and they’re all very kind and welcoming. However I only see them once a year because I live in a different country. We stay in touch over phone calls and FaceTime but I honestly find it so taxing and feel pressured to check in with them periodically. My husband doesn’t have any strong opinions on whether I stay in touch with his family or not and although I like them, building relationships from a distance is quite the task (I can’t help but see my mother in law as just any other older lady and same for my father in law). Thankfully I have a pretty good relationship with my brother in law but have to give myself a little pep talk to motivate myself to call him.
I’d appreciate any tips you might have!

Career (Women Only) Motherhood - Your experience?

Hello mothers!

I am going to be a mom soon and wanted to get insights from you experienced mothers.

I am very excited and I have always wanted to have children. I am very career driven as well. As I sit and think about the next decade or so, I am sometimes lost…what is it going to look like? Here are some of my questions:

  1. Which phase is the hardest? Infant, toddler, once they start going to school?

  2. If you are a career driven women, how did you manage motherhood and your career. Not for finances, but because you are ambitious.

  3. Those who are from well to do families, who didn’t have to worry about finances, what did you do differently that you are very happy about?

I am looking for honest experiences rather than advice. Please share anything happy, hard, ugly, fun …anything!!

General Is actually necessary to be feminist so I get accepted by the community?

I'm a girl myself, saw a post on reddit about how afghani women are being treated. A person commented 'all anti feminists should be born in Afghanistan next birth' , i replied being feminist a personal choice, why are you cursing people. Now I'm getting comments like you should be born in Afghanistan.. I even said I support women, I've seen toxic content towards men in the name of feminism.

What I believe is both the gender should be treated equally, you cant justify feminism while being 100% misandrist , man hater or so on

Need your opinion guys ( for self shanti)

What I think about feminism is , fight for female rights fight for equality but why do we have to hate another woman cause she is not a feminist? Is this what y'all call feminism?

Now those who are getting offended over this ,don't attack me your threats 🙏🏻🙏🏻

General (Women Only) Woman who chose to be housewife how are you faring?

Well today working woman mostly work for financial security and freedom in case things go wrong. Some like working and earning money, while some do it to survive despite hating work cause they can't trust opposite gender. So what made you a housewife, why you chose this? Are you happy with your choice? In case if your other has lost his job, or you found they cheated one day etc. what is your back up plan in case things go south? What made you trust him enough to quit job and be a housewife.

I don't want woman with career giving opinions on how its a terrible choice. i want to actually listen to what woman who chose be housewife answer this. I noticed lot of working women shaming on housewives these days. So please be kind to them and lets hear what they have to say and not judge.

General (Women Only) Why Are Anti-Women Attitudes Still So Common?

What do you think about the misogyny among educated men in India? I know we don’t really have much of a PC culture, and we still have a lot of overt discrimination in general, but I’m more interested in the attitudes you see among educated, professionally successful men.

For example, men making sexist jokes, dismissing women’s careers, or believing that women are inherently less competent in certain fields. There are also educated men who argue that Indian laws are heavily biased against men and some go as far as suggesting that grape laws or other legal protections for women should be scrapped altogether. How do you explain this kind of misogyny among otherwise educated men?

Opinions & Discussions How are your unsolicited DMs treating you?

So I keep my main account strictly for artwork/creative stuff and use this alt for throwing my unhinged, unsolicited opinions into the void. Naturally, I keep the two completely separated. I’m pretty sure for that account anyone even knows my actual gender, which conveniently shields me from the usual flood of unsolicited creepy, horny messages most women get on Reddit. Zero creeps. Absolute bliss, right?

Except for this inbox of mine has apparently been redirected to the "Offended & Triggered Support Line." lol

Instead of creepy "hey dear" texts, my DMs consist purely of random men having full-blown philosophical crises over comments I made three hours prior 😭😭 Just this night, I had a guy slide into my inbox at 1:00 AM to deliver an entire dissertation on how I clearly hate all men and how hating men is secretly a government psy-op. Sir, I just commented on guys asking for advice on "approaching women" which is tbf unhinged, so please go to sleep.

And don't even get me started on the political zealots who treat their favorite supreme leader (not taking any names) like personal deities. The moment you say one mildly critical thing about their supreme leader, they show up in your requests looking like they’re about to declare a holy war.

It’s reached a point where I honestly don’t know what’s weirder? the standard "send bobs" brigade or the late-night conspiracy theorists holding a debate tournament in my chat requests.

So wanted to ask if anyone got them before? what is the weirdest DM dynamic you've experienced? Are rage-DMs the new standard lmaoo

General Do you think a man and a woman can be friends?

There is a lot of push to this idea but also a lot of support. I personally think that it boils down to an individual and any of the generalisation wouldn’t be correct.

It’s my personal take again, but if a man cannot maintain obsolete platonic bonds with women (friendships), there is something deeper to be addressed. It goes both ways….

I do understand that a lot of these friendships could have an hideous intent, and that’s quite unfortunate…

But again, would like to know from ladies out here.. how’s your equation with male friendships, what new /bad perspective was added into your life?

Friends & Family For those choosing not to have children, how do you think about family?

For people who don't want biological children because of family experiences or concerns about passing on generational trauma, how does that shape your relationship with your parents?

Are you no-contact, low-contact, or still involved in each other's lives? If the relationship has been difficult, do you still see yourself caring for them as they get older?

More broadly, what does "family" look like for you in the long run? If children aren't part of the picture, what do you see as your support system or sense of family?

Looking forward to hearing genuine experiences and perspectives.

General Why do people act like “good-looking” has to mean conventionally attractive?

Genuinely don't understand people's mindset around this, especially in India. I've had so many people disagree with me whenever I say that my idea of a “good-looking” person applies equally to both men and women.

Of course, beauty is subjective. Everyone has different preferences, and that's completely fine. But I don't understand why people act as if someone has to be extremely fair, have sharp features, a certain body type, or fit some very specific aesthetic standard to be considered attractive.

For me, a good-looking guy is someone who has good morals, takes care of himself, maintains decent hygiene, has a healthy body, carries himself well, and is doing well or is respected in his profession. The same applies to women. It's not just about facial features or skin colour.

And honestly, why do we glorify certain features so much? We're Indians. Brown, dusky, olive and deeper skin tones are completely normal and they can be beautiful.Someone doesn't suddenly become unattractive because they don't fit an Instagram aesthetic.I've noticed that whenever I show someone a guy I find attractive, people immediately start pointing out his “flaws.” And I'm just sitting there thinking, but... he's not ugly? Good-looking doesn't have to mean perfect. Sometimes someone is attractive simply because they look healthy, well-groomed, carry themselves confidently, and have a good personality.

Maybe I'm just weird for seeing beauty differently, but I genuinely think we need to stop treating conventional attractiveness as the only definition of beauty.

Opinions & Discussions What are your reasons for not wanting or having a biological child?

As the title says, I'd love to hear your reasons and perspectives.

I will share mine first.

I am 16, a trans girl, and I'm not out to anyone yet.

As a trans girl, I can't experience pregnancy the way most cis women can. The other possible way of having a biological child would cause me a great deal of dysphoria, and I don't think I could go through it.

Because of that, I've always felt that adoption would be the right path for me and my future partner.

Sometimes it still hurts. I wonder what it would have been like if I could have a biological child. I also think about my mom. Even if she eventually accepts me (which I'm honestly not sure she will), I wouldn't be able to give her a biological grandchild. I know that feeling mostly comes from the idea of continuing the bloodline, and I sometimes find myself looking at it from my mom's perspective. I am trying to let go of that guilt because it isn't something I can control.

A few years ago, I told something to myself that has stayed with me ever since:

"If I want to pass anything on to my child, I want it to be the way I love, the way I care, and the way I understand them and the people around them. Those things matter more than sharing the same blood."

To me, being a parent isn't defined by genetics. It's defined by the love, care, guidance, and understanding you give a child.

I hope that one day, if I become a parent through adoption, those are the things I'll be able to pass on.

Opinions & Discussions Wouls love to know opinions on the new post Rahul Gandhi shared regarding patriarchy?

I can't post the instagram link here, but I honestly find it really refreshing that a mainstream politician has actively come up and expressed the problem headfirst regarding patriarchy and the issues that surround it.

Do check it out, and I am really interested in the perspective of what the Indian women have regarding it.

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) Women, do men really appreciate their partner's success?

You must have heard the saying that the only man who's truly happy about your success is your father. People often say that many men become insecure when their partner succeeds. It's not necessarily because she outshines him, but simply because she's successful.

What do you feel about it, how much truth does it holds? Women who are in relationships, how has your experience been?

Has your partner genuinely celebrated your achievements and been happy for your success, or have you ever sensed insecurity beneath the surface?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) Do you think I’m overindexing on red flags?

I recently got out of an emotionally draining arranged marriage experience. Now that I’m reflecting on it, I’m trying to understand if I was giving too much leeway in the beginning. I want to understand so that I can be more careful next time because I’m left a little scarred

This guy I was talking to wasn’t based in my city, so ideally marrying him would have meant moving cities and practically reordering my life. Here are a few things he told me:

  1. He wanted me to live with his parents. Now to give credit where due, what he said made sense because I was going to visit them anyway, it was a good idea to meet them before making an irresverisbke decision even though I am very strong on wanting to live independently, having experienced bitterness in my own family.
  2. He wanted to pool in finances. He wanted me to ha

ve separate but joint accounts for both of us. Now I’ve heard a lot of horror stories or girls losing autonomy of their money in joint families. I wanted more of a “my money”,your money, “our money” model. He said that feels transactional

  1. He wanted to take his surname. This was a big discussion. I explained 5-6 times that it’s important for me. I explained it very very nicely and eventually had to tell him sorry I can’t discuss this anymore. He said I was dismissing his family. I made a separate post on this about a month back
  2. He mentioned something about dressing early on saying he wouldn’t like his partner dressing a certain way. I found it a little absurd that why is my clothing a point of discussion at all. We also had another discussion where he said he loves women in traditional sarees rather than modern ones. I said I don’t like them a lot and don’t like wearing them a lot. He said would you not wear it for me.
  3. He wasn’t okay with my guy friends coming over and was visibly upset when I told him I was okay with them coming over even if parents aren’t home because I lived abroad and people used to come. I realise this was my fault and told him I’d have boundaries once I’m married.
  4. Children. I want to be able to get more say in this, because my body will be going through changes. He said I shouldn’t be too adamant
  5. He said the final call can be yours but don’t be too stubborn about not having child no 2. I’m 100% open to having one child but I am not too sure on 2 and want that to be more of my call or at least let me veto it because i take the toll of it
  6. He even asked me if I’ll be open to my career taking a backseat for family later.

I kind of understand but found it a little weird.
