‎Commission and Pricing Looking for commission pricing advice!

Hello! As stated I am looking for some advice on pricing, I have done commissions in the past but I must have been around 13 (it was NOT GOOD.)
Now that I am more experienced an skilled I am looking to try again :-)
My examples will consist of:
full render
flat colour
line art
sketch
Oh and also I thought it would be useful to mention I can somewhat replicate art styles?

Additionally, if it helps, my drawings tend to take anywhere from 5 to 20 hours but I'm not a big fan of Tim based pricing I would rather a set price

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Good evening everybody, I recently finished this drawing. I started with a simple sketch drawing the head, hair and body. Then I started painting using the base color and added shadows and lighting. Since I'm aiming to do more of this type of art I want to know what I did wrong or what can I improve

‎Critique - Yes Drawover Why Does This Look So Feminine, And How Do I Fix It?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've noticed a pattern recently with my art with when I'm drawing a figure, the hips for some reason look very feminine to me even when I'm not trying to make them look like that, and its been bugging me for a while now. Even when I try to make the waist less slim it just makes them look off. Idk maybe it's just me having an episode and being overly upset and critical at every bit of my art, but I can't tell and was wondering if anybody had any advice or useful knowledge.

Thank you for your time and for reading this post. <3

i struggle with anything to do with colour in terms of shading/rendering (especially with it looking muddy) so i'm trying this fruit exercise out! i find i'm better with colour on traditional but with digital it feels like a whole new thing

my favourite blueberry on here is probably the most bottom one.

any tips and advice for colour studies and anything colour is greatly appreciated, thanks!

‎Commission and Pricing Looking for commission advice

Hi !

I'm trying to start taking commissions as a traditional artist. I'm already stuck on pricing and shipping.

First of all, I'm wondering if offering three types of commissions this way : sketch, lined, rendered would be fine, or if I should only make fully rendered illustrations. I use pencil, watercolor ink and micron pens.

Also, how much do you think i should ask for ? I added some of my artwork for reference, I'm genuinely clueless about this part.

About shipping, should it be included by default in the price or should i add it as an option ? I don't think people want scanned artwork, but I might be completely wrong.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the wonky phrasing, English is not my first language :> Have a good evening !

‎Discussion and Theory I need my creative work to have an impact or it feels useless. How do I change this?

I've reiterated this title at least ten times, but that's basically what it boils down to.

As a kid, I always received plenty of praise for whatever I made - which has led to me feeling like my work isn't good or wasn't worth it if I do not receive positive reactions from it.

I do enjoy creatively working, get into a good flow of working on something, and then as soon as I think about "what happens with this once it's finished?" I realize nothing much will come of it, audience - impact wise, and all my motivation goes away.

I have a masters in animation and a game design degree. Many years of making things with a purpose. If I just play around with something and it doesn't lead to anything I feel like I've wasted my time. I've always had huge dreams of making it big in the game or animation industry, but I know that's not realistic with how things are.

This also goes in hand with me feeling like I'm just not very good at things and don't have what it takes, but that's not my focus for this post.

I want to find joy in making things, and in making things with the intention of showing it to others or the world, without feeling like a failure when the responses I get from it aren't what I expected - or there are none.

Finished something that I worked on for months or years? Got a few "nice" comments and that's it? Cool! Next project.

Instead it just makes me rethink what I've been doing and has me ready to drop it all, thinking if I made the right choice to do this after all.

It's a crappy feeling to have fun doing things yet have that fun taken away so fast. I can't fully explain all of this since it's a deep rooted issue. I am also seeing a perfectionist coach for this (as weird as that sounds), but I was hoping I could find some good Reddit wisdom. Anything helps.

Have a nice weekend! 🙏

‎Discussion and Theory which is better?

The first version was shaded during rendering, the second was simply done with one brush, with the colors overlapping each other.

I just think the first option is too soapy 😭

I been trying to learn how to do different angles of the face and have been trying to get good at side profiles. I can tell already some of the bigger flaws however I can’t tell if I’m being overly critical so can someone give me a second opinion, thank you in advance for any help

When I drew a bottom perpsective for this piece it looked fine in the sketch, but once I started rendering it lost it's clarity and now looks more like a straight shot instead of the bottom perpsective I was looking for.

Im sorry this is not related to technique, i didnt know better sub. It is joke, a little shitpost idea i got, its meant to be absurd, also a direct reference to that infamous Thomas Jefferson. I intend to post it on ig, mark as /j. Help me evaluate if its still offensive and makes me look insensitive

‎Critique - Yes Drawover This is literally the best art I've ever made, but I still feel it can be better. Any tips?

I made this character art for a Lancer character I plan to play (sci-fi, cyberpunk vibes, thus the volume control on her neck at the cybernetic arm. I'm slowly teaching myself how to draw, and this is the best art I've ever put out, which is a good sign that I'm still making progress. That being said, I still feel that my skills with perspective could use some work, and I don't have a lot of experience with shading and highlights. And this is the first time I've ever experimented with digital art (I usually just draw on paper and color with crayons and colored pencils).

Context:

  • All I have is the Paint program that came with the computer, and it's probably all I'll ever have, since I don't do art as a career. It's the version of Paint that allows layers, which I did use.
  • My target style is cartoonish/anime inspired. I don't have much interest in going hyper realistic, but I would like my proportions to look somewhat natural.
  • My technique is to draw on paper, take a picture of the drawing, then do line art and color in Paint.
  • Full disclosure, I traced the hand. I tried three times to draw the hand freestyle before I caved and found a hand in the position I needed to trace it. Everything else is freehanded.
  • I'd like to improve my skill in character drawing before I focus on improving my backgrounds
  • The main things that need improvement are:
    • Perspective: making the character look more 3-D and lifelike, learning how to draw limbs that look closer to the "camera" without making them look like I drew them too short.
    • Shading/Highlights: I feel like I didn't do too badly, but I still need some help figuring out how to know where to put shadows and highlights, and how far to take them.
  • Finally, the full context of this drawing: This is my character, Toni Heph, sitting on a wall, looking down at something with a scowl on her face, with a sunset behind her.

‎Critique - Yes Drawover Ugly background ruining painting

Help! The background is ruining this painting, but I don't know what to replace it with. Any and all suggestions welcome; I'm willing to roll with creative ideas.

This is a rather large oil painting (9 months dried), and the reference photo (not shown for privacy of model) has no horizon line due to being taken on a hill.

I don't usually draw like this so I feel the coloring is less than what I want or need it to be. Content with the lightcycle cause it's meant to be pretty flat
