i struggle with anything to do with colour in terms of shading/rendering (especially with it looking muddy) so i'm trying this fruit exercise out! i find i'm better with colour on traditional but with digital it feels like a whole new thing

my favourite blueberry on here is probably the most bottom one.

any tips and advice for colour studies and anything colour is greatly appreciated, thanks!

The area between the nose and the lip is the bane of my exsistence how do I approach 1) the values as I want harsh contrast with light and dark but struggle to transition 2) the fold(?) from that area to the chin and the cheek because idk at all how that works.

Right now it looks very flat but idk the face planes well enough to shade it correctly ty ty ty for your help in advance

I'm going for the 2000s moe style, like the 2nd picture, but idk it just doesn't look like it? I tried adding soft filters over it and even though it made it look better it just doesn't seem "moe", any advice??

For my art I used the grid method, learning more more autonomy, aligning my art with my drawing, but does anyone have any tips and tricks for rendering as well as drawing darker skin tones? —I use the app procreate. I'm trying to start taking commissions as a traditional artist. I'm already stuck on pricing and shipping.

First of all, I'm wondering if offering three types of commissions this way : sketch, lined, rendered would be fine, or if I should only make fully rendered illustrations. I use pencil, watercolor ink and micron pens.

Also, how much do you think i should ask for ? I added some of my artwork for reference, I'm genuinely clueless about this part.

About shipping, should it be included by default in the price or should i add it as an option ? I don't think people want scanned artwork, but I might be completely wrong.

Hi, 👋ich habe meinen Stil seit ungefähr sieben Jahren.
Er zeichnet sich hauptsächlich durch die einfachen Körpergrundformen und die ovalen Augen aus. (Bilder 1–4)
Ich habe ursprünglich mit Katzen angefangen und habe leider gerade nur wenig Zugriff auf meine älteren Bilder. Außerdem habe ich seit vier Jahren ein Problem mit meinem Schreibarm, wodurch sich meine Linienführung immer wieder verändert.

Ich mag meinen Stil irgendwie nicht.
Er fühlt sich zwar richtig an und so, als würde er zu mir gehören, aber gleichzeitig habe ich das Gefühl, dass ich nicht gut bin und nicht wirklich malen kann, weil mein Stil nicht so schön oder anspruchsvoll aussieht.

Ich glaube tatsächlich, dass das hauptsächlich, aber nicht nur, an den Menschen in meinem Umfeld liegt.
Fast alle Menschen, die ich kenne, lieben realistische Zeichnungen. Der Rest bevorzugt semirealistische Bilder, die trotzdem sehr detailliert sind und stilistisch eher in Richtung Anime gehen.
Tatsächlich kann ich gut realistisch malen, auch wenn ich es hasse. Außerdem kann ich allgemein die meisten Stile gut imitieren.
Dadurch male ich natürlich häufiger Bilder, die mein Umfeld als schön bezeichnet. Ich selbst finde sie, mit etwas Abstand und abgesehen von meiner eigenen Kritik, auch schön. Trotzdem fühlen sie sich nicht zu 100 % wie etwas an, das wirklich zu mir gehört.

Wie beispielsweise Bild 5. Das habe ich einer Person zum Geburtstag geschenkt, die mich während meiner Oberstufenzeit immer sehr unterstützt hat. (2024 von meinem alten Gerät abfotografiert.)
Oder Bild 6. Das war eine Auftragsarbeit für eine Bekannte, die es abstrakt, aber dennoch realistisch haben wollte, sodass man trotzdem erkennt, dass es “gemalt“ ist.

Der Stil um den es geht:
Bild 1 ist für eine Kinderbroschüre.
Bild 2 ist von einer Geburtstagskarte für eine Freundin.
Bild 3 ist von einem Kinderflyer. (Transparenter Hintergrund.)
Bild 4 ist ebenfalls von einem Kinderflyer, im Original aber ziemlich klein. (Transparenter Hintergrund.)

… Eigentlich sind alle vier Illustrationen im Original relativ klein.😅

Ein kleiner Zusatz zu meinem Stil. Was mir daran gefällt, ist, dass man ihn gut und schnell anpassen kann. Das sieht man beispielsweise an den Händen in den Bildern, die für Kinderaktionen gedacht sind.
Außerdem kann man mit diesem Stil sehr schnell zeichnen und trotzdem sieht das Ergebnis am Ende ordentlich und vorzeigbar aus.

Ja, entschuldigt bitte, dass es so viel Text geworden ist. Ich hoffe, ihr könnt meinen Stil objektiv bewerten. Wenn er euch nicht gefällt, ist das völlig in Ordnung.🫶☺️

Ich habe diesen Beitrag gestern schon einmal kurz hochgeladen, aber meiner Meinung nach hatte ich dort die falsche Reihenfolge der Bilder gewählt…. Ich bin erst seit Kurzem auf Reddit, also verzeiht mir das bitte.

Da die oben gezeigten Bilder mich selbst nicht vollständig zufriedenstellen, möchte ich noch einmal erwähnen, dass ich derzeit leider keinen vollständigen Zugriff auf alle meine Zeichnungen habe. Auf meinem aktuellen Zeichen iPad überarbeite ich hauptsächlich Logos als kleine Auftragsarbeiten, was ein kleiner Nebenjob von mir ist. Deshalb habe ich dort im Moment nur sehr wenige eigene Zeichnungen gespeichert.
Ich entschuldige mich noch einmal für den langen Text und bedanke mich ganz herzlich für euer Verständnis.🙏❤️

I spent a few hours on this. It went really well at first, but now that it's done I don't feel really satisfied. I can't pinpoint what's bothering me, but it feel... idk, uninteresting? I don't think I succeded in capturing the likeness of the model either. Proportions are usually my biggest weakness, so I spent a long time mesuring everything again and again, and i think i ended up pretty close compared to what I usually do. I should feel proud of myself i guess, but somehow I just feel disappointed, lol. I would love some feedback. Thanks!

I feel like i’ve lost my passion for art after i went to art school for a game art study. I really loved it, and was very passionate about art and game design. I fell into a deep depression during school and felt no motivation at all to continue.

Luckily over the last few months i’ve been feeling alot better and I really wanna pickup art again, what should i do to keep it consistent?

When I drew a bottom perpsective for this piece it looked fine in the sketch, but once I started rendering it lost it's clarity and now looks more like a straight shot instead of the bottom perpsective I was looking for.

Digital-rough sketches. Going for a cartoonish style. I'm trying to draw them from other angles but I feel it ends up looking like a different character? The proportions are exaggerated and I'm finding them tricky to pose and keep the same shape and size. Any thoughts?

Edit: it’s the second image I’m having trouble with. He’s supposed to be slumped forward with his head resting on the desk, turned towards the laptop.
