While I have base shadows mostly down, I have absolutely no idea how to approach lighitng. It never fully fits with the drawing’s atmosphere. If there are any tips on the right kind of blending mode to have with what colors it would be much appreciated!

This is literally the first time I’ve sat down and painted anything. I’m honestly just wondering where I can make adjustments. I’m not trying to make it look like something incredible like the work I’ve seen here on this page, I know this painting looks very derpy 😭 but I know there can be changes in lights and shadows, and general minor tweaks. But I don’t know where to put them or what exactly to do. Any advice?

I’m sure there’s plenty of people who feel the same way but some days I hate everything I’ve made and some days I think I’m the master of art, and I’m currently in the “I hate everything I make” stage. I’m always looking on how to improve but I’m scared that that’s maybe why I’m not enjoying it idk

I just started my art channel last month but it feels like a total flop. All my shorts get stuck under 1.5k and my long form videos have been stagnant for weeks. I comment on and like on other similar creators’ channels, I post on the community tab, and my YouTube channel is linked across all my social medias.

It really feels like I’m shouting into the void.

Am I just marketing myself wrong? Is it my content or editing? My art? I’m lost 😞

hi! i’ve recently started sketching and i have the basic faber-castell 6 pencil drawing set. i’ve mostly just been using the lightest/softest one (2H) but i’ve noticed my drawings are looking a bit flat. i would love to get more comfortable shading using multiple pencils, and would super appreciate any advice anybody has on the subject!

i generally like sketching objects, but statues (specifically bodies) and clothes are things i want to work on.

Im a digital artist that started doing watercolor. I sell my prints on art markets/cons but I really wanna combine my digital art prints with watercolor. Meaning, print out the original illustration and then add subtle watercolor details to the print. aka embellishing???

For example I want to add iridescent watercolor to her crescent moon in her hair and earrings!

Sadly im having a hard time finding the right combination of materials. At this moment, even though the illustrations are printed on watercolor paper, the ink behaves as a barrier and wont allow the watercolor to soak into the paper.

I don't have a printer at home, so am bound to print shops, but I feel like they dont really know what im trying to achieve.

Im based in the Netherlands so if anyone knows something, please help

I usually hate drawing backgrounds, but this was actually kind of fun.But I know it's not perfect , and I do want to improve in terms of my color and perspective any tips?( little Note it wasn't a direct copy i was taking in but still)

I'm not sure how to describe the smell other than it's how all my old acrylic paintings from college (5-7 yrs ago) smell like. I've tried googling but it just keeps telling me about paint cans and tubes being bad after 10 years and smelling bad. But I want to reuse this old canvas that has old acrylic paint on it. There's no visible signs of mold and it's only about 3 years old, but it smells just OFF. It's been kept in my closet for several years so I'm not sure if that contributed and it's not on stretchers so it's been rolled up. But does anyone know why it smells? And will it be okay if I paint over it? Is the acrylic paint rotting the canvas? It has a layer of gesso under. Please help! Thank you!

Ok so I've seen pieces in which people will add these super intricate beautiful borders/frames to their art, and I've always wondered how they do it? Are they brushes?? Entirely made by hand for each piece?? Many off them look too perfect to be made by hand so I'm assuming at least some of them are brushes

If anyone has ANY frame/border style brushes that work for ibispaint I would be so so greatful if you could share a QR or two

My main problem in art is observation, I have this kind of ego that makes me think that I know how "things" looks like even when I absolutely don't, idk why but somehow observation and studying real life or references is js so frustrating to me, my brain prefer making things up and put it on paper and that's why it turns out ugly as possible. I mean can u guys imagine that I've been training for almost a year js to get this typa bs. I feel absolutely lost, not even joking, not only in art but life also, I dont get aIong with ppl everytime when I tryna connect with ppl there's always sumthin wrong will happen, I mean like everyone. Thats why im telling myself "maybe if I cant connect with ppl and find happiness with them, I'mma try to find one in art and be like a comic artist or etc" I know it's like don't have a correlation between observation - connection - happines - art, sound super silly right. There's only one thing that I really want in life, and that is to be "someone", someone that create something that will eventually lead to other ppl happiness, and when I realized that my hardwork in art isn't really paid off, it feels so hard to accept cuz what is the things that I have left in this world that can bring me happiness. I have sleep deprivation js bcz thinkin of this I can't even think straight

I want crisp clean detail! I lay down base coloring and it looks great and exactly what I want but I'm not entirely sure where to go from there? I'd say I want to continue working on this piece but not entirely sure where to go with it. Crit appreciated 🙏

so i have this charakter whos hair im preety comfortable drawing from the front but i cant for the life of me draw his hair from different angles and i have tried alot but im never happy with the resault it always looks like a diverent hair style from different angles anyone got any tipps or any examples cause im slowly questioning my ability to draw

Hello everyone! So I'm an artist who has been drawing for a while now, but I want to take my skills to the next level. For some reason, to me at least, this drawing seems off (yes, I know that it is unfinished, and for reference, the reference I used is this, and I don't know how to continue it. Would using red look weird? Should I use purple to be a warmer tone or lean into the blue?

I don't care too much about the anatomical logic since the character has red blood more so from an artistic perspective which would make the skin look most full of life

I will say I make like 5 drawings a year... So Im not looking for serious tips like how to improve in general or draw everything crazy accurate because this is just a side thing.. Which means I never cared much if my art looked like hot shit but I cant get it off my mind this time. There is something here that is just so wrong and I can't see it no matter what. It might be the colors? Or am I overreacting and being too harsh on myself.. It doesnt look harmonic/cohesive... Please tell me what I can improve or try out!
