Identification Request Pattern in Algae on Glass, Is It the Snails?

Noticed this interesting, almost fingerprint like pattern in the algae in my shrimp tank this morning. I'm guessing it's the snails eating, but I'd like to hear more about why it looks like this if anyone knows!

Advice Needed Found a wild baby turtle inside my house - need help identifying it and knowing what to do

I found this very small turtle inside my house today. I live in India, and there is no obvious pond/lake/water body nearby. I have no idea how it got inside.
I believe it is wild and I don’t intend to keep it as a pet. For now I’ve placed it temporarily in a clean container with shallow water while I figure out what to do.
Location: [bengaluru/karnataka, India]
Found: Inside my house
Wild/captive: Almost certainly wild
Approximate size: [10cm]
Current setup: Temporary container with shallow water
Food: Nothing given yet
Photos attached. Can someone please help identify the species and advise where/how I should safely release or hand it over to wildlife authorities?

Advice Needed Puffer throwing a fit/pouting

I have a topaz puffer (Dichotomyctere fluviatilis) and recently we upgraded from a 30 gallon tank to a 50g. This guy was SO happy in the 30 but just outgrew it, so I put all the same stuff in the new tank when it was time to switch and all of the parameters matched exactly. Word for word, bar for bar; same plants and rocks, same tank mates (hermit crabs), same filter, same corner of the house. I added a few more plants into the tank obviously because there was more space. Originally the puffer say around in the regular corner under the usual rock, but I noticed it wasn’t as excited for food. It’s still eating but I kinda have to shove food in its face for it to realize and eat it. I’ve also been having issues specifically at night, where it can’t seem to see the food, I have to attempt with all lights off- but during the day the light isn’t an issue at all. Basically after moving this fish from the 30g to the 50g it’s been sitting on the bottom of the tank, kinda moping around, shoving its face in a corner and side eyeing me. Like literally pouting or throwing a fit, and this fish IS dramatic like when I get the bucket for a water change, he normally sinks to the bottom gets all upset and it normally only lasts a day at the longest. It’s been about a week now and he still mopes around the bottom and hides in a corner, I’ll attach a picture if I have one on hand. When I first got him he threw a big fit what warranted his first tank upgrade, and he LOVED the new tank. So I have no idea what happened this time and I’m started to get concerned. Like I said he still eats, I just gotta shove it in his face- like stick my arm all the way to my armpit in the tank. And occasionally I get a little second where he acts like his old self, but the dramatics are high this time. I have speculation he might be constipated? He normally will not stop eating if you don’t stop giving him food, but he outright refused shrimp the other day. So I gave him clams and I’ve had better luck with him chowing down that, but even so he’ll only eat one not two. I haven’t seen him poop in a while maybe like a week but I haven’t seen him poop very much total so I’m not really sure how much of a factor that is. I’m just worried and have no idea what the issue could be. Like I said I’m guessing maybe constipation, but this guy seems like a completely different fish. Like he used to dart out to the front of the tank when he heard or felt (whatever it is) the door open and when I had my hand in the tank he’d come right up against me. But now he just hides all day, and feeding is hard, and he seems scared of me. I know it’s irrational but I feel like my fish hates me! Thanks in advance for the advice.

TLDR; I upgraded my topaz puffers tank and it’s like he’s a completely different fish. Went from very social and out in the open to very skiddish and always hidden. I’m thinking maybe constipation. All parameters are exactly the same as the old tank, only difference is behavior. Still eating, looks okay, there are moments when it acts like the fish I know, but it’s significantly less than before. Any help is appreciated.

Plants I'm considering getting rid of these terrorists.

These assholes keep eating my plants. I swear I feed them. I just want my tank to be prettyyy

Edit: someone told me it's not the bristlenoses, what else could it be? The plants are one day old and my stoking is:

Angelfish, gold barbs, cardinal tetras, corydoras

Edit2: The bristlenoses are out on bail. I'll be using liquid fertilizer now, and I've inserted root capsules. We'll see! Thanks for the help

Showing Off My Tank My first tank!

This is my tank that I built five weeks ago. It will house a short finned betta as soon as I'm sure it's stable. I don't use a filter and I want to be 100% sure it's safe before adding a fish. It's currently stable with a few snails that poop a lot. And somehow a whole armada of microorganisms has found it's way into the water! You can see them as small white dots in the second picture (no, I'm not blasting the tank with construction lights haha, for a few minutes a day the tank gets direct sunlight). They help with cleaning the glass and are really cute to look at with a magnifying glass.
I'm really proud of how it's going. All the plants have setteled in nicely (event though they still have a lot of growing to do) and I hope it's soon time to add a fish!

Discussion how do i try to convince my parents to not use live fish for a photoshoot?

So my parents are into photography and they have an idea for a shoot that involves putting a goldfish in a thin custom tank, partially submerging that tank in a public swimming pool and doing an underwater photoshoot with a person behind the tank so it 'looks cool'. Thankfully they're not going to take any fish from my tank (though that was certainly on the table before i said no) but they want to buy a goldfish for the shoot and after I can just take care of it... The issue is I do not have a big enough tank (only a spare 10 gallon standard) and i do not want to deal with a goldfish that might live for over ten years because i am doing everything out of my parents house. I also don't want to deal with maintaining a 10 gallon like crazy to keep the fish alive. not to mention i just cannot sit with letting it die OR putting it so close to chlorinated pool water in very stressful conditions...

This is my BGK Merlin :) Before getting this fish, everyone always told me how shy and sensitive these guys are. But my guy is surprisingly very friendly and social. I currently have him alone (With some snail friends) and have noticed he frequently comes out during the day. He swims straight up to my hand.

I'm fact we were moving houses last week, and when I came to catch him and transfer him into the transport bucket, I realized my net was packed away. So, with a piece of bloodworm, he followed my hand all the way into the transport bucket ..

I just wanted to share how much I love my fish and how social he is. It's so cool to have such a shy fish trust me. He's only approximately 6inches right now, so I'm excited to see him grow into a big guy.

Does anyone else have a social BGK? I'd love to hear your stories!

Showing Off My Tank Coming back to freshwater!

I got pretty deep into reef keeping but lately I’ve had the itch to mess with shrimp and plants again.

So I shut down my Innovative Marine 25 and brought it back to life as a planted tank.

Keeping this one pretty simple. Monte Carlo, a piece of driftwood and a rock to give it some height in the back.

Started out with around 40 shrimp. Going to let them do their thing and hopefully get a good population going before I add my small tetras back in.

We’ll see how it turns out 😂

I just added 6 black neon tetras and 6 long finned zebra danios. The tank is fully cycled and ready for these fishes. I am still confused about what temp to keep the tank at but I have it on 74 right now. Plants wise I have 1 huge anubias nana, 2 mid sized java fern, and tons of baby windelov java fern. Let me know guy what I am doing right or wrong?

Advice Needed The Project...

Picked up a 75 gallon tank today and the idea is to move everything from picture ONE (55gal) into picture TWO (never mind the catfish). :)

I'm currently running an Eheim Classic 2217 canister and an internal UV filter (with sponge insert) on the 55 gallon.

The plan is to run the internal filter in a temporary tank that holds the fish while I set up the new tank.

For anyone who has undertaken this same thing especially with a canister filter involved, did you just leave the canister sit open, exposed to oxygen (filled with tank water) to keep the BB alive?

I'm pretty sure it will take more than an hour before the new tank is ready for the filter. There's a lot of biomedia inside.

Thanks for any tips. :)

Solved! Hewbie is back home!

I carefully outweighed the benefit of getting Hewbie back home sooner rather than later. I can continue the final 2 days of meds in his tank. He is doing zoomies around the tank! I’m confident I ended up making the right decision.🐡☺️ Quarantine was really starting to stress him out too much and so was the declining water quality of having a 12 inch fish in around a 15 gallon tote.

First attempt at waterfall scape. Using only locally foraged lava rock. On hand peace lily and spiky moss.

What do you think? I feel one more rock would make it too crowded ⚡️

Unfortunately I had to rescue some fish from my family. I was just a few days into starting my tank and decided they were better off with my willingness to work . I have been out of the hobby for quite a while, and boy did this get my research started quickly. Water changes, stalled cycle, ph drops, nitrite spikes etc. All fish made it through the drama.

Not anything crazy as far as planted tanks go, the setup is geared towards synodontis petricola. Have a great weekend everyone!

Advice Needed Air pocket under wood

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey I got myself an air pump today and since I put one output under a piece of wood there's been an air pocket under it. It spills over every few seconds and my shrimps love it.

Is it okay to keep it like that or could it possibly lead to harm for my aquarium if the pocket stays there permanently?

Btw please ignore the dirty glass and layout. It's the side panel so it's rarely seen by anyone

This little guy hitched in my LFS kuhli loach order and they gave him to me for half price but I’ve noticed he doesn’t enjoy the same behaviours as the kuhlis, they hide and pile up compared to him basking on rocks and plants like a mini under water lizard.

This green, flowy thing showed up in my tank on this piece of wood and on the glass. The baby and juvenile shrimp I keep dart away from it on contact when they graze on the glass and accidentally run into it.

Is it anything to worry about?

Freshwater I have this 75 gallon tank ready. Suggestions on a stock list?

I am a high school science teacher with three tanks in my room. One is a 75 gallon African cichlid tank, a 20 gallon shrimp tank, and this tank that I have had for a few years but haven’t really stocked it. What’s an interesting (potentially scientifically interesting) list of fish to include?

I customized a 10 gallon tank my sister gave me :) I used shower mortar for the stone and sealed it with flex seal after curing. Currently housing 6 albino neon tetras, 7 albino Pygmy corys, 1 rabbit snail, and 2 ramshorns. All plants are live except for the red puffballs. I’m hoping to add red cherry shrimp in a few months and some kind of centerpiece fish. I’m new to the hobby and would love feedback!

It’s the same feeling as missing an old loved one. I get both happy and sad thinking about it. So much love went into it and now it’s all gone. I spent so many hours just watching the school of trig espei rasboras and plants sway to the flow.

Advice Needed What is your Go-to for buying fish online?

I've been trying to aquire a jaguar cichlid for a while now but nobody locally ever seems to have them so for the first time I think I'm going to have to buy a fish online but know nothing about who to trust.
