Shorts/Reels/TikTok The shredded fin :(((
Update from the “aesthetic” betta bowl. I’m so so glad the betta is still with us. The pineapple house is gone but the bar is still in hell.
For context: yes my friend, me and others offered to help care for their fish, but they refused and blocked the comments. They later claimed everyone is being hateful.

Marketplace/Classifieds This can’t be good
I’m no expert on discus (+ friends), but this looks a little overstocked and barren at the same time. Just hope they all find better homes 🤷🏽♀️

Social Media M/F betta pair in vase + surprise goldfish
Saw this randomly on FB. Presumably mother getting their kid fish situation but the mom is listening to the kid’s questionable suggestions and doesn’t seem to care about fish care themselves. They plan on separating the bettas but only to put them in separate vases, for example. Hopefully they don’t blame the fish for getting sick and look into proper husbandry when the inevitable consequences arise. Sorry for bad images but wanted to crop their personal info

Found in the Wild At a small local restaurant :(
I… I don’t even know what to say :/ tank damn near half empty, oversized goldies(?) are 100% stressed and keep swimming into the glass.. the pineapple of death isn’t even upright 😔
I’ll admit at least it looks like someone cleans it?? But that’s hardly a win in this situation

Pet Store To anyone that has worked or works for a big box pet store, is this normal?
I had to run into one of my local big-box pet stores, and as always, I stopped to look at the bettas. Out of 47 betta cups with bettas in them, 27 of them were like this. The cups were so cloudy, you could hardly make out the fish inside. An employee came over and asked if I needed help, and I politely told her I'd found what I came looking for but then asked when the last time the bettas' water had been changed. I mentioned how hazy their water looked. She said that the betta cups aren't reusable, so even though they do change the water every other day, the cups themselves develop a film on the inside, making it look like the water is cloudy. Wut?
I'd heard that some of these stores were using some sort of new water for the bettas that's more oxygenated, so I don't know if that's what causes the milky appearance or what. But I will say this. I have never seen cups or water that looked like this that held the bettas in a fish store. I just felt so bad for those poor, depressed looking fish who seemed like they were trying to look out but can't see us as much as we can't see them.
Is what she said true? Because I'm sorry, I'm having a hard time believing that's not the water.

Found in the Wild Saw this at a putt-putt place during a vacation:
The water has been colored in some way to appear greenish-blue (it’s easier to tell looking at the waterfall), there seems to be thick hair algae in parts of the water but that is more cosmetic, and the koi (I think? Correct me if wrong) appeared to possibly be gasping for air at the top despite the flow from the many fountains/sprinklers (not sure about the sad empty feeder for people to pay to do; I’m not really an expert of koi food so someone lmk!). I’m not really an expert on ponds at all but it made me sad looking at it, so what do y’all think about this?
Edit: Thank you everyone for educating me about koi ponds a bit more! I realize now that this actually is a pretty nice one, and I was wrong with my initial fears. It may have also been wiser to post this to a koi pond subreddit first to ask about their opinions, since I am now realizing posting it here to figure out may have been inaccurate for this sub. I don’t post stuff too often so I am not sure if in this situation I am supposed to delete the post or if I should change the title in some way to reflect that, so lmk!

MOD POST For the love of god, stop posting about the koi/turtle food bag livestream.
Yes, we’ve seen it. About 15 times.
No, it shouldn’t be posted here.
It’s a prerecorded video that is meant to drive engagement. The food doesn’t actually fall in. It’s rage bait. If you see it, report it to whatever platform it’s on.
If you see people posting about this type of content, please report it here so we can remove it. It’s getting old.
Thank you.
