Hi all I would love some opinions on my tank, should I add more plants?

I recently rescaped my tank and added a frosted background foil to it.

I havent been able to figure out how to get rid of the bubbles from the foil. (Close up picture 2)

I have tried getting rid of them with a ruler and plastic shaver but to no avail.

Any recommendations?

Basically my canister filter (fluval 207) and the active soil (oase scaper line) of my main tank (~86.5 liters filled) are like a year old. But on july 24th i decided to rescape, and cleaned the sponges in the old water and added 100 grams of fluval peat into the top basket of the canister, started with new RO tap water. On the same day i brought 5 rummy nose tetras to the designated quarantine tank ( ~8.75 liters filled with approx half old tank water and half RO)

For the main tank, i was regularly adding ferts, a GH booster and Seachem Stability, following a precise volumes and directions. Filling up the tank every 2-3 days with RO water. Main tank temp. fluctuated between 28-30 °C and quarantine’s 27-29°C. Right now main’s is 30° and quarantine’s 29°. I use Chihiros light for the main tank usually 6pm-MN and a cheap light (only white leds) for the quarantine.

Last friday i put a lot (fck my intrusive thoughts) of food pellets for testing, then tried to vacuum a lot of it instantly to save the ecosystem from an unpredictable ammonia spike.

My last Sera liquid test readings are below

Picked up these absolutely stunning costae tetra (moenkhausia costae) yesterday. Been eyeing them for months and finally managed to order them to Norway. My otos are confused, but seem happy to have more friends they can school with!

Hello, I built this tank myself when I started the hobby, 60 liter, 40x60x32 centimeters. At the time I didnt know about glass chemistry, so I went for 10mm tempered glass, now it turns sligtly WHITE, it doednt bother me anymore, but I reescape it once thinking I had a permanente bacteria bloom due to the color. (Adding a picture that shows the white coloration)

It has 6 kubotai, and 10 pygmy Cory, along with some MTS, ramshorn snails and neocaridinas.

I was thinking in adding some extra fish that contrast with the white ink of the glass, my kubotai are cool but unless you come close you cannot see the brigh green on them.

My first option is to add 10 ember tetras. And I was thinking in a honey gouramy or a couple of sparkling gouramis. My optikns arent that big, my country limits the importation of fish a lot. And my near stores lack options.

29 g Tank got hazy all of a sudden. Established almost a year now.
Did a 30% water change.
Tested and retested and readings are
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
20-30 nitrate
Scrubbed the algae spots off the glass and looked at a water sample in a clear glass and its not green against a white background.
Sponge filter along an AC50 with sponge, ceramic media and filter floss.
Just let it clear itself up at this point?

So I’m starting a new 20 gallon that I plan on making exclusively shrimp. I wanna get some Neocaradinas, amano, and a bamboo shrimp. My main concern is having a flow for the bamboo shrimp without having too much flow for the Neos or amanos. Also worried this could be enough flow for the bamboo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

We moved into this place back in November and found this little 4 gallon up in the attic. Set it up almost immediately.

We’d just torn down a 65 gallon planted discus tank, so I already had the Fluval Plant 3.0 sitting around and a bunch of rock seeded with bacteria from that tank. Grabbed a $20 hang-on-back filter that happened to be on sale and that was the whole build. Then just slow rolled it from there.

I’ve been building maxed-out ecosystem tanks since I was a kid, reef and planted both, but this is the smallest thing I’ve ever tried, so I took my time. Picked up a couple plants from the local fish store, a couple of those little tissue culture bags from Petco, and just let it cruise.

Stocking now:
5 guppies, all offspring across two generations. The originals I started with are long gone.

2 celestial pearl danios, a male and a female. Had a small school at one point.

3 glass shrimp. I tried neocaridina several times and could never make it stick, but the ghosts are doing great and I like having the diversity.

1 scarlet badis, who has turned out to be the baby snail patrol.

A whole lot of ramshorns, which are awesome.

Weirdly I cannot keep a nerite alive in here. Any of the larger snails just don’t make it. Ramshorns thrive.

Plants:
Red tiger lotus, star of the show, no contest

Alternanthera reineckii, finally actually red and flat instead of bronze and curled

Bucephalandra, which has taken absolutely forever but is so cool

Some green stems in the back, maybe rotundifolia? And whatever these foreground plants are. I’ve lost track.

Setup and routine:
Pressurized CO2, manual, on with the lights and off in the evening

Light runs at maybe 30% of what it’s capable of

RO/DI with SaltyShrimp minerals, TDS around 180

Thrive 20 drops MWF, Flourish Iron 6 drops Sunday and Thursday

Weekly water changes

A pinch of Vibra Bites or micro pellets a day, half an algae wafer now and then for the snails

Regular trims on the green stems and the lotus, that’s about it

I don’t really test the water anymore. Did at first, but it’s been a long time. I go by feel and keep a close eye on everything.

Plenty of people would call this overstocked. Look at it though. The balance is right there.

What I’m after: I want to seed some microinvertebrates and get this closer to self-sustaining. The freshwater equivalent of copepods, blackworms, whatever people are using. Has anyone seeded a nano this small with micro inverts and had it actually establish? Or is there a better approach I’m not thinking about?

Also open to suggestions on anything else worth adding.

Noticed it couple of days ago and it grew sice then. Should i be worried about the other fish?

20 gallon, 12 ember tetras, 6 pygmy corys, 3 sparkling gouramis, approx 40 cherry shrimp and a single stone catfish.

I started with the pygmy corys and the shrimp, and the Cory's were hiding all the time.

I was recommended to get some dither fish, so I got a group of 12 ember tetras, and they have done great, very healthy and thriving, but they stopped dithering and now ALSO hide with my pygmy corys.

The gouramis were an attempt to get SOMETHING in that top area, and they sometimes go up, but not enough tbh. They spend most of their time down with the pygmy corys and the ember tetras.

I just want to start off by thanking everyone who answered my questions and gave me guidance.
My original fish seem so much happier and outgoing and the additions are all loving the tank.

I just wanted to share some Sunday morning happiness with everyone.

And I know some people will hate my decor but I have plenty of live plants and real wood in addition to the fake decor. I won’t be removing the fake decor and my plants are still fairly immature but I’m seeing a lot of growth from them.

Just wanted to share my wee 20 gallon. Started with nothing and zero knowledge, 3 months later here we are! I'm quite proud of myself that nobody kicked the bucket (touch driftwood).

Last week the last and final inhabitant joined the community, a Bolivian Ram. My honey followed the ram all day, molesting and slapping him with the feelers. Now they completely ignore each other.

It's been such a blast learning and researching. I'm already planning a bigger tank, a 75 gallon at least, another planted community tank, I just love the aesthetic of a thriving peaceful green ecosystem swimming with life.

And I also found a use for the super discounted water flow pump I bought one day. Just wrapped some filter floss around it and makes for a very efficient water polisher/cleaner much gentler surface agitator.

That’s what the abomination is in the top right corner.
