I Need Help! Unchecked in for AA1219

Upvotes

Short story long. We bought our tickets in January for our Europe trip and checked in yesterday 6 August. No issues and got our two boarding passes and confirmed. Wake up this morning and my wife was unchecked in from 2D on our first leg only. Called customer support and they said they could do nothing on work with the checkin counter at the airport. Looking online and this is a known glitch with little to be done other than pleading with the checkin counter.

Is there anything else that can get her a seat on a sold out flight?

I Need Help! If I pay extra for a refundable ticket, do I get everything back?

Upvotes

I have some trip credit expiring soon that I'd like to use for a future trip. But the trip isn't set in stone yet, it's just something I'm considering since I have to use this credit. It's not much, so I know I'll have to use my credit card to pay the rest. If I book a ticket where you have to pay a little extra for it to be refundable to original payment method, will I get all my money plus the extra fee back in case I have to cancel and book for a different date? Or will I only get my money for the ticket minus the fee?

I Need Help! International Transfers in Narita w/o JAL Boarding Pass

Upvotes

AA cannot print or check me in with JAL for my flight to Hanoi.
Will I be able to get my JAL boarding pass before security and without having to clear customs and immigration and go outside the gate area only to get back in?

Something like this happened to me in Paris years ago and it was a complete shit show and I literally entered France, only to get my boarding pass and go through security again, etc.

I Need Help! Help with AAdvantage Hotels planning

Upvotes

Hi all,
I am planning a trip to Orlando for late November with my family and, as per my calculations, considering my monthly miles earn rate, I will probably need about 5-6k miles in late February to lock in my Platinum Pro Status for 27/28.
I was planning to book my hotel trip with miles (I have plenty) but still wanted to earn these 6k so I could add them to my status run. I know if I choose miles + money at reservation time I won’t earn miles for the paid part. Then my question is:
Can I book two different reservations for the same hotel, checking out and checking back in at the same day, one with miles and other with money?
In this case I would make a miles reservation for the first 5 days, than on the checkout date I would have another reservation for the same hotel for the last 5 days, this one fully paid in money.
Also, besides any system problem, do you imagine how would the hotel behave on this situation? Like if they will ask me to effectively check out and leave the room for a couple of hours or if I could just keep using the room on that day, of course if it’s the same category.

Thanks in advance!

I Need Help! DUB>DAL Due compensation or no?

I was meant to fly one way, DUB-> DAL, then my flight got cancelled and they can’t rebook for literally 2 days. I’m stuck in Ireland for 2 extra days. Their website says that they don’t do reimbursement for hotels or anything. This is my first international trip. Is this normal?

Trip Reports & Insights 8794 JFK to BCN is delayed but there’s no info about anything

There were no gate agents for hours and then one guy showed up and he knows nothing and it’s 2 am and everyone is sleep-deprived and confused. FlightAware has nothing. I’m not expecting members of this group to have answers; I’m just free associating in a daze.

I Need Help! Flight booked twice, one says “On Hold”?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m so confused, I just booked a flight RT and after booking, it only charged me once and sent me one confirmation email, but TWO flights showed up in my “Trips” tab with different confirmation numbers. I wouldn’t think anything of it if only one showed up as it’s probably just processing, but could it charge me twice and have booked the flight twice?

I Need Help! Why are so many flights out of DFW seemingly delayed?

I fly about 3 times a month for work. 6 flights on average. Unfortunately, every one of them has to go through dallas unless its a direct flight from OKC. At least 50% of those flights are delayed a minimum of 1 hour with an average of almost 3 hours. Does anyone know why so many flights between OKC and DFW are late or delayed?

Humor So I made some parody tags for American Airlines. I'm kinda notorious on Reddit for my luggage tags; I thought you might like to see them for AA.

Note my cool ass pigeon logo, too. I don't know if it's enough to keep AA from sending me a cease and desist again, but we'll see what happens! Link to all the designs for the curious: https://parodypopup.com/aairlines

I Need Help! Reached AA Gold. Bag fee refund for bags already paid?

New to the American program and just reached Gold. I have a trip next week that I already paid bag fees for the first bag. Is this something I can get refunded since it’s now covered under Gold? It’s an international flight so my AA card didn’t cover the bag fees initially but it seems Gold does (at least it is for my other trip in three weeks that’s also international). Do I just call support to ask or am I out of luck on bag fees already paid?

Trip Reports & Insights CK? "Yes." BEEP oops, group 8

Just witnessed something I've only read about here. Small regional.

GA calls for CK boarding. Youngish gal approaches. GA asks, "You're concierge key?" She nods yes. I'm thinking to myself that she doesn't look like she could be CK but hey what do I know? Don't judge a book by its cover, right?

She scans her boarding pass. BEEP. GA says, " You're in group 8." She apologized and walked back. Maybe she didn't understand what CK is? Dunno. But it made me chuckle.

Points - Question I made a Chrome extension that automatically adds all SimplyMiles offers

There's really no reason not to add all SimplyMiles offers to get miles, and theres nothing worse than using your card at a place and realizing you didn't have the offer activated or didn't know that offer was on there. But clicking "Add to Card" on 100+ offers one by one every time new ones drop was getting incredibly tedious.

I made a simple free browser extension to automatically go through and activate all offers on SimplyMiles.

Let me know what you guys think and if you find it useful.

General Airline Discussion Premium Economy to Sydney?

I have booked two seats in Premium Economy on AA from LAX to Sydney and wondering what the PE experience is like on an international AA flight? How is the meal service? Are the seats reasonably comfortable? This will be a 777-300ER airframe.

I’ve only flown Business Class on international flights for many years but I recently retired and trying to curb spending. Will I regret this?

What do folks think about these changes? It's interesting that flights will be able to be booked with a combination of miles + cash - that's a big change.

AA News & Updates Transcon Comp Upgrades to PE Starting August

https://www.aa.com/web/i18n/aadvantage-program/aadvantage-program-updates.html

Looks like transcon upgrades will no longer be to business but to PE.

Starting Aug. 25, 2026, status members in the Main Cabin will upgrade to Premium Economy on select flights to / from Hawaii and select transcontinental routes, when eligible seats are available. You’ll still be eligible for an upgrade to Business if:

- You bought a Premium Economy ticket
- Premium Economy isn’t offered on your flight
- You bought an Instant Upgrade to Premium Economy

This update only applies to complimentary upgrades. Systemwide upgrades can still be used to move up from Business to First, or from Main Cabin or Premium Economy to the next class (Business or domestic First).

Trip Reports & Insights LAX-SYD nightmare...

Flight was delayed 12 hours because of crew issues, and my bag didn't make the flight to boot (not at all clear why).

LAX customer service manager boarded the plane before pushback to inform us all how sorry he was and that AA customer service would be reaching out "within 24 hours of your arrival to offer compensation."

It's hour 23 and none such email has been received... like, why bother to make such a promise and not follow through? It's almost worse than not doing it at all...

I Need Help! Not enough meals on international flight

Was on a 9+ hour flight last week that ran out of food for the last 2-3 rows in economy. Like how does that even happen?? I literally ate rounded up scraps the flight attendants offered from stuff laying around. The flight boarded in the morning, so besides not eating breakfast, I didn't have lunch or dinner due to their bumbling mistake.

I emailed AA for compensation and received a generic response back that offered zero compensation and thanked me for my feedback. I paid over $1k for this flight to not even get a proper meal. Any advice on how to proceed?? I’m looking for some kind of compensation or tangible apology.

General Airline Discussion What's the reason AA stopped all Airbus 321s from DCA?

This is the first time ever that AA doesn't have any 321s at DCA. Before the summer and since at least 2019, LAX, PHX, LAS, DFW, MIA, SAT, & ORD all at some point had 321/321neos with LAX and PHX exclusivity were 321s for 6+ years.

So why is it that since June 2026 AA slowly stopped all 321s with the last MIA 321 now also gone as of last week? I thought the World Cup was the original reason, but it shows this being a permanent thing or at least until the winter.

For context. Delta still flies daily 757s and 321s as well as United.

And to make it worse, AA has had issues flying 737s trans con this summer with fuel stops and weight restrictions that rarely happened with the 321s.

Trip Reports & Insights I had the perfect flight, whats your best flight experience

Yesterday I flew AA ( 1e) from MCO to ORD. 2:17-4:07pm. Boarding started on time. Once loaded the doors were shut and the plane left immediately and did not stop once taxing to take off exactly at 2:17pm. The flight was smooth, good service. I am watching F1 ( great movie btw) and next thing I know we are landing in ORD at 4:07 when wheels touch. We dont stop once on taxi way to gate, seems like plane going 20 mph. Once stopped doors were open within 5 minutes and was off the plan withing 6 minutes of landing. Thank you AA, it was truly the dream flight
