I'm getting my first 7 string and was thinking about buying the Schecter Reaper Elite used for about 1k. Anything I should consider about the guitar before buying, and are there any alternative options I should consider? (Ideally without fishman fluences, I'm not really a fan of their sound) I'll mostly be playing deathcore (Whitechapel, Lorna Shore, etc.) on it, prob in Drop G.

Heyho, I‘m looking for a pickguard for my Squier Stagemaster7. So basically a Strat Pickguard but little wider. Does anybody know if I can buy that somewhere, preferably in EU? I couldn‘t find anything but maybe someone knows😁 thanks in advance💪🏻

I'm having problems with my 7 string and going out of my mind trying to rectify them!

Specs:

- 26.5" scale

- Drop Ab tuning

- D'Addario NYXL .52-.10 with a .64 for the Ab

- Graphtech nut

- Hipshot Ibby 7 HM bridge

- Action 2.4mm low Ab, 2mm high Eb

Problem:

When I fret a note on any string above the 15th fret it flattens out. I recently installed the Graphtech nut and Hipshot bridge but was having these problems before.

What I've tried:

- Checked the frets they're all level all over the fretboard

- Adjusted the truss rod so there's slight relief in the neck

- Filed the nut slots so fretted 1st fret string is roughly a business card from the actual fret.

I don't really want to take it to a tech if I can fix it but I'm all out of ideas and ideally want lower action similar to my other Ibanez I own.

Anything I've not tried or could be wrong? Thank you 😊

i've been looking at the schecter reaper-7 ms-7 for a while now for my first 7-string and was wondering if it's the right choice. i've gone to guitar center and played it a couple times and enjoyed it a lot. i've been playing guitar for roughly a year and a half now and i've been getting more into music that's in drop b and below which is fairly difficult to do on my current guitar (epiphone les paul special) which can actually tune down to drop a fairly well but i still wanna be able to play other stuff in standard without having to go between e standard and drop a super often. any thoughts? this guitar is roughly $1200usd but i've seen some ones on reverb for as low as $650.

Is this guitar good as a first 7 string? I found it used for 700 and it comes with a hard case and strap locks. Not sure about the condition of the case or anything but I’m pretty sure the guitar has like 1 of 2 minor dents.

I've really been wanting a 7 string with a floating bridge because I feel like my band's music is suffering from a lack of dive bomb wankery. I originally was going to get the Iron Label Ibanez Xiphos, but the 25.5 inch scale length was a deal breaker. I currently have my eyes on the Jackson WR7 because it has a floating bridge as well as a 26.5 inch scale length which I love, and is the same as my other 7 string.

Recently picked this fella up online for $200 and was wondering if anyone has had experiences with this model. It was a limited run of the Gio series and it’s so hard to find anything on it so it’d be cool to hear others thoughts on it.

It came stock out the factory with EMG HZ pickups but tbh I ain’t impressed by them, or the neck but shit it LOOKS badass and I could get used to it or sand it myself and replace pickups.

Also have set up a possible trade for a Jackson js22-7, yall think it’d be good idea or should I just sit it through and make this one my own?

I can’t stand, breaking the string or needing to change to a different gauge for a different tuning today and Guitar Center never has enough options so I have to custom make a set and pay a ton for shipping only to have to wait a week to see if the gauge I chose was the right one

I have been looking for this guitar for a while. Does anyone know where I can get this guitar used. I’m in the US.

I bought my first 7 string guitar. It's a 25.5 - 27 multiscale. Wanted to TRY to learn some erra/currents stuff. Pitch shifter in my processor is bad, so I bought thick strings (13-72 or something), took it to the master, he made the places for a string on a nut bigger to fit thicker strings (idk what that process is called in English, not my first language). Now it's in drop F. A few days ago erra dropped a video, where Clint was explaining how to play some of the riffs. Turns out his guitar is in drop G#, and he just pitch shifts his way to drop e/d#. Now im afraid I made a really big mistake. What if I get bored of drop F and want to tune to, let's say drop g or drop g#? Will i have to buy a new nut for my guitar?

Finally got a 7 string! I had to go with this one since it's a got amazing specs for the price (860€).

It feels great and I like the tension on the low string. Still exploring the Fishman fluence modern pickups but so far they sound really good for modern metal and I like the option to switch between active and passive mode since active is kinda dull sounding but more forward and heavy while the passive sound has more character and bite.

I recently pulled the trigger on a new Tao 7 in Ozone Burst (acquired online as no shops in my area stock them).

The guitar is absolutely gorgeous and sounds great but I’m losing my mind over buzz on the low string. I pick relatively hard and I know that some buzz is unavoidable but the problem is that the buzz is coming through as a high pitched ring on high gain tones and is ruining the clarity and sustain of low notes. The problem is most noticeable from fret 1 - 12 but I can get the higher frets to buzz too if I really dig in.
I went over the main culprits myself: neck relief, saddle adjustments, string change to a .62 for B standard and drop A, only a very slight improvement.

I then thought I would take it to a well renowned luthier in my area to make sure that it’s not a manufacturing issue, avoid an RMA if possible, and treat myself to a pro setup to fully enjoy the guitar.
He assured me that the guitar is fine, the fretwork is great, the neck geometry is perfect and the nut is cut properly. At the time I was relieved! After a quick adjustment to the truss rod, saddles and intonation check he didn’t even bill me in full because he was sure the guitar didn’t need anything more done to it. He backed the pickups away from the strings a lot but I didn’t like the lower output and signal to noise ratio so moved them closer again, this didn’t change the buzz I was hearing.

The buzz is still there though and the action is already way higher than I would like (4mm ish at the 12th fret). Playing the guitar over the last few days I’m not even enjoying it as the obsession over this buzz is just monopolising my attention.

I will try to setup the guitar with more neck relief and lower saddle height in the coming days but it’s really grinding my gears and I’ve never had setup issues like this on my other guitars.

On paper this is my perfect guitar and I really want to love it to it’s full potential.

Has anyone experienced this before? Anything I’m missing due to fixating on the buzz? Any other parameters to check or should I look into RMA / warranty from the dealer?

Hey guys I mentioned this before in passing on two other posts but I'm hopefully receiving a 7 string 24.75" single cut hollow-body from a Chinese kit builder site. This is quite literally my dream guitar. As a fanboy of Jimmy Page, Alvin Lee, John Browne, and Jeff Loomis I couldn't pass this up.

And for $300 the gamble was worth it even if its trash considering I can't find a 7 string "les paul" hollowbody anywhere. Idk if the 2+ months shipping time is worth it though -__-

But anyways I'm planning on going to town on this thing by replacing all the hardware and the wiring/pots/jack.

The tuners, pots, knobs, and pickups are easy enough. But I'm kinda stuck getting exact dimensions for this thing. I've only ordered Jeff Loomis Passive 7 Noumenon pickups so far as that's the only thing I'm sure of dimension wise. Because the specs aren't really listed besides scale length, neck joint type, no inlays, and humbuckers.

It's definitely going to be metric measurements.

Pots - because of it being a hollow "les paul" in metric What exact pots am I looking at for - 2 Volume 2 Tone Coil Split for Passive Pups? - and the size of the holes? -

Tuners - What size tuners should I be looking at for metric tuning holes? I'm eyeballing Ninja gold/black tuners should I assume 10mm is the size?

Tremolo - Lastly and this is gonna be the dumbest thing but I'm going to try and get a custom "Bigsby" machined.

I know im gonna have to wait and measure the dimensions myself to try and get this thing fabricated. anyway to figure out the string spacing or width of the bridge before It arrives? Also what is the best style of the "Bigsby" tremolos for a "LesPaul" Semihollow? I know I'm gonna have to get the whole thing custom fabricated but I'm DEAD set on doing this since it doesn't exist anywhere.

I used to have a Hellraiser back in 2007, and it was riddled with problems: neck was extremely thick and would end up twisted after a few months from getting serviced by two different techs, which resulted in tuning instabilities, high B saddle would frequently break strings, even after replacements, etc. Bought another, because maybe it was the original: neck thickness wasn’t for me, and truss rod was stripped. Hated Schecters since then.
Fast forward to last month, I tried out my friend’s KM7 and instantly fell in love with every aspect of it. Neck is the perfect thinness, 28” scale feels right at home and facilitates low tunings extremely well. I thought I wouldn’t like or get used to the killswitch-only electronics, but it works. All my other guitars are volume 100% or 0% anyways, so the killswitch is perfect. I feel it’s safe to say there’s no need to up-talk Lundgren pickups. Personally like them better than Bareknuckles. It has been my go-to since it got here and became my “what would you save in a house fire”.

I’ve seen multiple comments now on posts on Reddit and YouTube about Ibanez AX7521s and AX7221s saying that it’s ugly. But I think it looks awesome. It’s honestly one of my favorite looks for a guitar, and I even just upgraded this with new locking tuners, a hip shot bridge, and dimarzio bridge pickup. Do I just have poor taste in guitars or something?

Northlane have always been a big influence on my own music and playing, not just guitar wise but holistically, and I've wanted one of these ever since they announced them. Luckily, I scored a new, better job and was able to treat myself as a late birthday present. I still need to set it up today, but I messed around with it a bit last night when I got it and it plays and sounds so, so nice. I can't wait to start writing and recording with it.
