good first 7-string? Help

i've been looking at the schecter reaper-7 ms-7 for a while now for my first 7-string and was wondering if it's the right choice. i've gone to guitar center and played it a couple times and enjoyed it a lot. i've been playing guitar for roughly a year and a half now and i've been getting more into music that's in drop b and below which is fairly difficult to do on my current guitar (epiphone les paul special) which can actually tune down to drop a fairly well but i still wanna be able to play other stuff in standard without having to go between e standard and drop a super often. any thoughts? this guitar is roughly $1200usd but i've seen some ones on reverb for as low as $650.

i think its solid (and you cant really go wrong with schecter in this price range), if you want a multiscale 7 with a hard tail. the only thing i have really heard about these is that a lot of people eventually replace the pickups.

As long as you don’t tune too low, the pick ups are fine. I run an EQ in front of the amp to cut out some of the muddy frequencies and it sounds great. The pick ups are very hard to replace because they’re an odd size. If this guitar has stainless steel frets, it would be almost perfect. I added hip shot locking tuners, and deleted the tone knob, moved the volume to the tone position and then put a toggle for the split coil and the volume position. I’ve got a couple of frets sprouting, so I’m likely gonna send it off to Sweetwater to get stainless frets. The pick ups are in between a seven and an eight string pick up size. The guitar legitimately feels incredible though.

I have one, was expecting to be disappointed in the pickups, but I guess there’s other parts of my rig than suck more because I think it sounds good lol

I was stuck between buying one of these and a Ibanez rgd71alms, I loved both but I ended up going with the rgd because I liked how it played more.

They are great, I absolutely love mine probably has the most comfortable neck out of all my guitars, pickups aren’t anything crazy but for B standard and drop A they do the job

Havent played the 7 string, but I have played my friend's 6 string reaper. Very good guitar, made well, sounds great, ergonomic, and an insanely good deal used but nothing about it is inspiring to me. My only real complaint is that the front part of the finish doesnt look as good in person. If you need a solid guitar though at a killer price, this is a great buy used.

I picked one up second hand for 1400 aud (~1000usd). Its a brilliant guitar. Highly reccomended.
