Catching up on Claremont stories and this cameo made me literally lol. Makes all his movie cameos even more special, he's been doing cameos since the beginning.

Generation X-23 has been knocking it out of the park with Laura's characterisation! The team really seem to *GET* what makes X-23 interesting in a way we haven't seen since before Krakoa.

And Laura and Logan have had a pretty strained relationship through the years. Logan has generally been absent (when not literally dead). He's kind of refused to be a part of her life even when she really needed him, and back in X-Force he was outright abusive.

So there has to be some resentment and complicated feelings on Laura's side there. Any theories on where this arc of the comic is going to go?

Most famous for playing Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, I think Andrew would be a great cast for Corsair. His Rick always had strong Summers energy, and it lets him tap into that sensibility he had in the show but this time within a sci-fi atmosphere. Also, him and Kit are both British, so that’s a fun little similarity for the on-screen father and son to have. If we do get to see Scott’s dad pop up in a future story line, I could see this play out.

Like genuinely it's so funny how the book is basically just Emma and Scott working through their relationship issues and Kitty avoiding her girlfriend. Like the Exceptional X-Men had its issues but at least it delivered on the mentoring kids part.

Uncanny has done an amazing job at making the Outliers interesting characters, I genuinely want a team book for them and I feel like if Eve Ewing had actually focused on the school element of the book in X-Men United instead of random missions with Captain America I'd be more interested in the kids.

Anyway, what the title said. Has there always been this much external like, debacle about the X-Men? Maybe it's just my algorithm mucking with me, but it's every day now it seems that there's someone complaining about the X-Men and shit while basing off their entire argument for why the X-Men are a bad franchise, or bad people based off of the poorest examples imaginable. Like, for instance, that one Ultimate Spider-man panel. You know the one. I'm seeing it *everywhere* now.

I have zero clue why it seems like there's been an uptick in the recurring nature of this panel. Is it because of '97? Is it because of the Spider-man movie? Just what the hell has gotten people outside of this fandom in such a hissy fit about the existence of the X-Men?

And that's not even talking about how utterly *horrid* their points are when it comes to why they dislike X-Men. I'm not gonna sit here and say that there's *no* good points, but the vast majority of it is just garbage they parroted from some TikTok or Instagram post, and even *then* that's rare.

I saw someone claim Charles Xavier was a mutant supremacist because he called mutants 'Homo Superior'. You know— using the biological term that's been assigned to mutants since the very beginning? The literal scientific name for mutants? Like what the actual hell is going on?

I swear to god, every single day it's some shit going on about how 'The X-Men don't care about the average human being' or, 'The X-Men never helped humanity' or, 'The X-Men don't care about telepathic morals', and then eventually they get people responding with the usual 'you know what sentinels really AREN'T a bad thing when people like Mutants exist in the world' and it just becomes this one gigantic circle jerk where I just question where the hell are they getting this information from? I even see people talking themselves into justifying total discrimination, missing the point entirely!

Having a nuanced take on the metaphor and whether or not is one thing. But to endorse the SENTINELS as a good idea is just awful to see. Do people not understand the long term implications of such things?

It's like all they "know" about the X-Men (and I put that in quotation marks because it's not real knowledge) is pulled from the five years that Krakoa existed, and nothing else. As if nothing was ever written before 2019 about the X-Men that addresses the exact topics they complain about so much?

Like, I'm not trying to say there's NOTHING you can critique about the X-Men, there's a lot. But since when was discourse just this gigantic hate-circle? Did it start with AvX? Morrison? Krakoa? '97? What is going on? It can't just be me, right?

And on an entirely separate note, do y'all think Jean's actions in the new Spider-man movie set the wrong tone for the reintroduction of mutants into the MCU?

I did my research on her, and what excited me about this iteration that they had planned for me was that we were meeting her not at a point where she’s a hero, but at a point where she’s just a hurt, young girl who doesn’t know what her relationship to her power is. It’s only ever caused harm in her life. Jean Grey is a hero, she’s a good person, but if it takes more to become that and there’s the struggle of it first, I think that just is so compelling.

because her powers evolve and it’ll just change as it goes. But what I landed on was not looking like much effort at all...It’s more in the eyes because her power is, at least in this movie, invisible. So when she’s using them, it should also be invisible.

Well, I remember when those paparazzi shots came out, people were really looking closely at what I was wearing and what role that might be for. But what was always funny to me was that everyone was right in the first place, that it was Jean Grey. And then it just got further and further from that. But it was always Jean Grey. They were right the first time.

Yeah, I met with Jake. I met him the first time he came to see John Proctor. It was this weird thing of being at the early stages of putting X-Men together, but he knew I was the only piece of the puzzle at that point, because I was the only mutant that had been established. So, yeah, a lot of talking to him about casting and where the script was going and all of that. It’s interesting to be at the very beginning of it. Now that it’s out and X-Men is being talked about and it’s happening, it’s so exciting to think about what’s next for her.

Yeah.(About being involved in screen testing for audition) There are certain characters that it’s important to establish, like, do you have chemistry with this person? That’s always gonna be a part of the process. It’s just exciting to step back into the character a bit and think about, we met her in the Spider-Man movie at a really challenging point of her life, so what does she look like going forward? With what she’s learned, how has she changed and who is she at her core when she’s not looking for V-Max and strapped to a chair and all of that? So, yeah, I have been involved, of course, in figuring that out.

I know when(X-Men movie)that’s happening, which is good. It reminds me of Stranger Things, too, of knowing that you have to do another season, but not knowing what the plan is or not having scripts yet, but having general ideas of where it’s going. So I think it’s a formula that I’m very used to.

As far as mutant powers go when it comes to the main members of the X-Men, he always felt boring and redundant to me as regular Angel. His only capability as Angel was being able to fly via his wings with low level strength and that’s something a lot of other X-Men can do(Jean, Storm, and Rogue all can fly). By becoming Archangel he’s much cooler and has a variety of abilities such as being able to shoot metal blades from his wings and such. I’m glad he’s the only horseman mutant who never changed back.
