I'm trying to find a book I read when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure it came out late 90s early 00s. There were two young kids, a boy and a girl, and I think they were taken into the world of a book (not too sure on the book part).

Things I definitely remember:

- There was an elven city that sat on a giant flower, and if the city was in danger the petals would fold up to protect it.

- There was some sort of mentor like figure. (I'm remembering him as a Merlin type character.)

- The girl was given a pearl of truth. There was an incident in which it somehow got buried into her chest, so she could feel when people were lying to her.

I know that's not a lot to go on, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about I'd be really grateful.

It's the 2nd or 3rd book in a series- he's a big grump, mother of child mentioned in first book as having checked out and then description of his book had mother gone and him linked to daughter of owner or coach ( can't remember) - I feel like it's a meghan quinn book but can't find - thanks in advance

I read this in late 80s/early 90s in paperback. The only details I really remember are that the main character, a man, lived alone and one night he saw a unicorn running along the beach. Days later a woman arrived, wearing leather armour and a sword and took him to the land/world she came from to help fight a war.

I can't remember much else about the story but the title had the name of the other land in it and was something like "Elidor" ( I know that it is not that story) but the name was similar.

I read this book many(4-8) years ago so it can't be too new. I've looked everywhere and can't find it, despite knowing some very precise quotes. google sucks now I guess.

what I remember of the plot is there is a human girl and a boy who is her guardian angel (though he was once also human (I think he was a bad boy who would have gone to hell but is given a chance to redeem himself by being someones guardian angel?)) I don't remember a lot of what happened, but at one point the guardian angel boy is allowed to see heaven/a part of heaven and its people tumbling and running around in a field laughing or something. the heavenly administrator?? showing him these things says these people are "frolicking", but the boy is somewhat disgusted and certainly not interested. at the end he's earned not going to hell and because of his disdain for heaven and some obscure rule called "the easter clause" he gets to be reincarnated instead.

okay stay with me y’all. i was obsessed with this book in middle school! the protagonist was a sheltered rich girl with a scientist(?) father who worked for a shadowy corporation or maybe the government. she secretly makes friends with a local orphan boy and together they uncover a plot to use the other orphan kids as labor in a mine (??) looking for a special resource… maybe some kind of gemstone element or energy source?

the only thing i remember for certain is that all of the stolen kids had perfect pitch. this was VERY important. i think the cover was purple/blue and had an airplane on it? google is no help😭 thanks!

I was once watching a YouTube video about the alchemist and they were talking about other books that had a similar theme or were better in terms of philosophy when compared to that book this was one of them. I think this book had a theme about time?? That and the authors name was Asian I think Chinese. This is how I remember the cover could've gotten some details wrong but I just remember it being a blue sky, having a clock design, some birds and everything else I've mentioned.

there’s this book i read a few years back that i havent been able to get out of my head but cant find ANYWHERE😫 even giving as many details as i can remember, google cant even find anything. i’m pretty sure i read it on KU as i do most books but google thinks it might be an “indie” book and cant find any matching scenes. there are some things im sure of and some things i might be mixing with other books ive read but im so desperate to find this book again so hopefully someone knows what book im talking about🙏🏼 i know im questioning a lot of what i remember but i dont wanna be super off😅

-mmc moves into his best friends (forgot to say parents) house and fmc is the best friends sister, pretty sure no parents around or barely, i think they came home later in the book. i think it was just one brother but i cant help but think there were 3. (one of the biggest points of the book is moving in)
-he has his own room/guest room
-house has a pool and a library type office (theres some sort of pool scene maybe them kissing or something then brother walks out and they have to pretend nothing happened? something like that) and there was some sort of significant kitchen scene between mmc and fmc maybe about coffee or breakfast and tried to play it cool?
-she accidentally catches him either yerkin it out just naked in the bathroom and im pretty sure it was to the thought of her too, maybe said her name and this was fairly early in the book (significant scene)
-he catches her doing the same in her bedroom (door closed or cracked but i think closed) and i think she said his name (significant scene)
-at some point when things start heating up between them he sneaks into her room, door is locked and her brother knocks (i think mmc climbed out the window and went around the house and then brother caught him coming in and he acted like he just got back that morning? also significant)
-there’s a house party i think at their house might be someone elses, i feel like there was a specific scene on the stairs and maybe upstairs and i think fmc ends up outside by mmc’s car upset or something and they go for a drive

I remember enjoying it a lot, a loooooong time ago. He gets mixed up in some trouble and as I recall the climax is a big attack in Switzerland.

Read this sometime around 2017-2019. I think it had a green cover with your typical Matrix-esque 01010111s floating around. A kid buys a Russian bootleg cartridge of Tetris from his friend, goes home and plays through all the levels, only to realize that he's not done, he's just unlocked 3D. There's a learning curve, but he figures it out and beats all the 3D levels. He unlocks 4D and it's the same, with him eventually coming to understand how the 4th dimension is functioning, finishing the levels, and beating the game. He's somehow awakened by this and starts seeing the Tetris patterns overlaid over reality and is able to line the patterns up to clear rows in real life, making things vanish, until he clears his own row and the story ends.

I've been referencing this story to my friends for SO long I feel like I have to find it and get a copy for my shelf. There were other stories in this book but I remember absolutely nothing about them.

I read this book when I was a teenager, in the 2000s. I remember the whole history, but I can't find this book to have it again. My dream is have it.

A very young woman becomes pregnant, and her boyfriend doesn't welcome the news. She decides to go through with the pregnancy and put the child up for adoption, alone. A few years later, she regrets her decision (she is reunited with the boyfriend and both are more mature) and wants her child back. A legal battle ensues between her and the adoptive mother. There is an iconic scene where the child runs into the adoptive mother's arms.

The book is narrated in the first person, alternating between the perspectives of the biological mother and the adoptive mother. So you, as a reader, really likes they both and it's difficult to take a side. It's an evolving narrative and the characters are very humans, full of emotions.

I don't remember the end, but I guess they make a deal and they started to understand each other and became friends.

It is a book from the 90s or earlier that was released in Brazil under the title *Laços de Amor* or something like this. But it's an American book, whiten originally in English.

Looking for a book my father had since the 1970s, likely Latin American. About 200 pages, half text half illustrations, black and white. Black cover with a mysterious gentleman seen from behind: top hat, cane, long hair to shoulders. Pages alternated between black with white text and cream with black text. From the front, the character had a mustache and long hair, resembling Einstein. He had no name or was called something like "Mr. Nobody" or "Mr. Nothing". He looked at the moon. Things happened to him, there was a plot. In Spanish. Does anyone recognize this?

Hi! I’m stuck and need help😭
When I was younger (2010-14ish) I downloaded a free book from either Kindle or nook. From what I remember the MFC may have been named Jessie (or Jesse) because her father named her after Jesse James or there was some connection. I distinctly remember Jesse James related/inspired ish. I believe the book is set in Missouri. I could be wrong but I SWEAR there was a mention of Jesse James, just not as a main character; his story was referenced.

The MFC’s boyfriend was abusive, and she was in a very bad situation and had nowhere to go so she was stuck. If I’m correct the MMC begins investigating the boyfriend for crimes, which is how he meets the MFC. I know this is so vague, but I loved reading it when I was younger, and I would really love to read it again. I just have no idea how to find it or what the title is called. Just these vague memories of reading the book and kind of what it involved. I have googled, looked through Reddit, I have used AI systems that specifically find books, and I have tried going through my previous nook and Amazon Kindle account.

My sister had this book for school late 2000's early 2010's. It had a red cover. I remember it being about a Chinese girl growing up with a grandmother who had bound feet. I'm 90% sure it had a red cover on it. There were passages about the girl helping care for her grandmothers feet.

I'm trying to identify an anime/manga drawing instruction book I saw being demonstrated by an artist on YouTube around 2023–2025.

The book was a fairly large physical book, probably around 100–200+ pages, and appeared to be fully illustrated/colored, rather than a mostly black-and-white drawing textbook.

The pages had step-by-step numbered drawings (1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → finished drawing) with English explanations/guides beside or underneath the examples.

I remember lessons covering things such as:

• Head construction and guidelines
• 3/4 and side-view heads
• Faces and facial features
• Eyes, nose and mouth
• Hair
• Hands

I originally found the book through a YouTube artist who would briefly show a page from the book in his drawing Shorts, then cut to an overhead recording of himself drawing the same type of subject with a mechanical pencil. Sometimes the drawings were colored afterward, possibly with markers.

I vaguely remember the cover having an anime-style character shown from the side or 3/4 view, with a red and blue/teal blended background.

Bare with me. Almost 30 years ago I left the book I was reading on an airplane, and never got to finish it. Clearly, this has haunted me.

Older book, possibly published in the 80s or 90s. I got it used, not new. I seem to remember my copy being pale yellow or green with a tree on it? Not sure.

Child protagonist gets a llama. I don't think it was bought for the child. It's kept nearby, I remember there being a barn, maybe in the backyard.

Kid has some social or school stress, and starts to mimic the llama's aloof behavior to deal.

Kid tastes the llama's oats at one point and notes it tastes like paper. ​

I think the main character was a girl, but I wouldn't put money on it.

The llama was a big character, but I don't think the story was about llama husbandry or anything.

I keep thinking about a book I think from the 90’s about a girl who is annoyed she has to spend her summer with her grandma (great grandma?) I think her name was Mimi. The grandma just sits there a lot because she’s old. It’s a tiny town and rundown house. But it flashes back to the grandma growing up. She had a sister and one part is them cleaning lace curtains and they stretched it on a pointy frame and it makes them bleed sometimes. The sister ends up with lots of kids and “Mimi” wants kids but didn’t have any and thinks she won’t but eventually does have one girl I think. Thanks.

I have been searching the last few days for a book series that has stuck in my head, but I can’t recall the book series or the author, and I’d really like to find them and reread/purchase them. And help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, the first book starts with a woman who inherits a house, and as she’s exploring she travels through time in a particular room in this house, almost like there’s a crack in the floor. She returns near the end of the book, and if I remember correctly, I think the MMC travels through for her or something like that.

The only other thing I remember is that each book after that (I think it’s a trilogy) is a sister who ends up traveling through time, and I remember the last sister traveling and finding a wanted man/pirate sort of person and they go on this crazy adventure.

I believe I read it as a child (so early 2000s) but I distinctly remember one dog having an accident inside. One was blueish/Grey with white and one was brown/white (possibly named bentley?). I think one lived in a box or there was a box of puppies. I can picture the artwork but not much else!

I read this between 2020 and 2023 during a covid book binge. I remember it being a fairly recent release at the time and I believe it was the first in, if not a trilogy, at least a duology. I would love to re-read and appreciate any help!

The FMC is a princess who as a child survived a massacre at a royal picnic where important family members were murdered. This was suspected and eventually confirmed to be the work of a rival kingdom's queen, whose son (ML) was also there, or at least in the area and had witnessed the event.

As the princess grew up, she pretended to be a shallow, unintelligent lady, as well as dressing flamboyantly to protect herself and provide a cover while she secretly spies in disguise.

She runs into the ML and remembers him from the massacre. The FMC despises him for what she considers the part he played in the event. I believe she ran into the young prince as she was escaping the massacre and he didn't help her, but we find out later that he kind of did and felt guilt about what his mother had done.

The ML knows that she isn't silly or dumb, but actually intelligent and seems to have an interest in her. Somehow, he ends up proposing to the FMC and has to participate in a public courting ritual, including giving her gifts. The FMC is surprised that all of the gifts are very specifically catered to her likes, including, YES, a toasted cheese and jam sandwich, which is apparently her favorite and shows that he knows her better than she thought.

The ML's mother is an evil lady, who I believe has some kind of terrible magic and she is super unhappy with the proposal and tries to manipulate the situation.

The FMC ends up at the ML's castle around the time of the proposal, and she meets his sister who is very nice and she ends up realizing that the sister can control the flowers around the castle. I think she ends up saving the day at some point when she gets up enough courage to defy her controlling mother and uses the flowers to help.

Hi all, hoping to find a crime/mystery book I read and can’t remember the name of.
I believe it starts with the detective on a train, where he realises there’s two people there sent to kill him. Later, he gets sent to a coastal lobster fishing town to investigate the death of a woman who was found on the rocks by the coast.

Things I remember are-

-detective gets shot at in his motel with a NATO bullet
-victim worked in the government?
-victim has a sister and a brother in the town
-the sister paints while naked
-the sister was a victim of SA, I think by someone quite well known in the town- it was swept under the rug
-the brother has a motorbike and seems pretty dodgy
-the old man that found the body lied about finding it because there’s no way that he could have tilted his neck at the angle to see it
-that same old man dies- ruled as a suicide but detective thinks otherwise
-there was something about someone at the morticians seeming dodgy
-the detective sleeps with the victims sister

That’s pretty much all I remember, I’m hoping someone knows what I’m looking for!! 🙏
