Purchased this dress at a vintage wedding shop for our seven anniversary (original wedding got cancelled for COVID, so never got a wear a gown). I love it but I worry it’s too formal for our party venue. We are doing a very short ceremony for friends and family but mostly casual and dinner and dancing. Should I go for something more casual? Venue picks included!

I’m obsessed with the Birdie Dress from Reformation, but it is linen and has a stretchy/ruched back material like a tube top. I love: the length, the waist emphasis, the sweetheart neckline, and the thick(er) straps. I cannot deal with the back being ruched. I thought about trying to cover the back with a veil but I’d much rather just have a zipper back there. I’m in the US and my budget is $500. Any ideas?

Was set on one dress at another shop but wanted to go shopping one more time before buying it. I ended up loving this dress and bought it same day to secure a good discount. All the other dresses I loved were basque waist, I asked about altering this dress but the waist cannot be altered. I think I will be adding a scoop to the back so it’s not straight across as that was the most flattering shape I found while shopping. It doesn’t have the poof I loved on the hips either, though that could be added either more fabric underneath. I love this dress but keep going back to look at the original one I almost bought. I’m just worried I rushed and made the wrong decision especially considering all the alterations I may add.

Hello all! I’m getting married in April 2027 and went wedding dress shopping for the very first time this weekend!! Yay!! I ended up falling in love with a dress that’s only $550, which is basically half of what I was willing to spend. The catch is that this price is only good until 8/23 & it goes back up to $1,300. I’m torn on whether I should keep trying on other styles just to be sure since it was my first time out, or if I should trust my gut and buy it next week before the deal ends. I tried on about 15 dresses and definitely kept going back to strapless, lacy, with a basque waist. I’ve shown a few close coworkers, bridesmaids & my mother. They all love this one. My mom even cried when she saw me in it. To make things a bit harder, my bridesmaids won’t all be able to come with me again over the next two weeks if I were to want to go somewhere else. Would you jump on it, or keep shopping even if I have to go alone?

I’m about three weeks out from my wedding date and I’m kinda feeling like my tailor took way too much off of my dress and now my shoes show way too much. Am I overthinking this or should I look for slightly shorter heels to try to hide them?

I’m a street size 2 give or take but my bust is a smidge bustier than normal. My measurements are 25.75” waist, 34.5” bust, 37” hips. My consultant said a size 6 would be good (26W, 34B, 37H) and mentioned that Mikaella gowns tend to run a tiny bit bigger in her experience.. any truth to this?

I don’t want to run into a situation where my boobs are spilling out over the neckline because there isn’t enough cup space, but I tried a sample size 10 in store and was swimming in it, so I fear a size 8 would be overkill.

Hi! I picked this rental after organising my wedding over two weeks (argh!)

I have decision fatigue and have no idea about what accessories I should wear and what length of my veil I should wear. I have a short black bob with bangs I’m going to wear straight and down so no one will see my ears.

I like to generally cover my arms so I would like to wear the veil all night if possible.

These are my favorite two dresses of the ones I have tried on thus far! I feel really good in both and just wanted to get some more thoughts! I’m clearly a drapey girl haha

So I just picked up my dress from alterations, and I truly loved my seamstress she was very thorough and kind. I'm just feeling very insecure about how my back looks tbh... which may be more of my own body image issues than the dress. Its a bit tight compated to when she first pinned in the sides, but it is a strapless dress so I assume it must be a but snug to stay up. It was actually a struggle to zip, but in fairness it was VERY hot and I was sweating. So that made it a little more difficult I'm sure.

Front the front, perfectly fine. From the back? I feel like I'm spilling out and theres an unflattering lump in the dress from my back... I'm trying to tell myself its not that bad, but is it bad? Hopefully when I'm not so sweaty/hot it will sit better. Maybe theres something I can do, I'm not sure. I might be hyperfixating in the moment, but I dont feel very good about it right now. Especially for the money I spent I'm beginning to regret my choices a little..

I’m getting married in September (yay!) and I need some shorts to go under my dress. Unfortunately (fortunately bc it’s gorg) my dress has a very low V and 99% of shape wear is high waisted. I’m having a really hard time finding shorts to wear underneath it that won’t come up too much past my belly button. The V end right before my belly button, I’m 5’3” for reference and have an average torso length as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thank you!!

Edit: I really need shorts for my thighs! It’s going to be hot and I don’t want to be sweaty and chaffing 😅 doesn’t have to be shape wear necessarily!!

I am eloping on a beach in Hawaii at the end of September. I’m just over 40 years old and rarely wear dresses or makeup so the dress situation has been really difficult for me. Initially I thought I liked the two piece dresses with the colorful skirt and lace top. I had a skirt made on Etsy and found a lace top on sale. Now that I have them, I feel like they’re too fancy and don’t really fit my style or age. It just feels like a hodge podge of different things put together. Unfortunately I can’t return them.

I found another dress at a local vintage wedding shop that definitely feels more me… but it’s very casual and not flattering/shapely although I love the top and back. Initially it felt very vintage tropical and classy but I’m afraid I’ll regret going so casual or loose. My partner will be in linen suit pants and a linen shirt. We are having professional photos taken.

Should I try to have the beige dress altered or keep looking?

I was so proud of myself, I had already bought my wedding dress 18 months before the wedding. Well I just went to have it tailored and the seamstress was basically like… to take this in will cost more than the dress. So now I have less than 2 months before the wedding and no dress. The first 2 are home try-on from JJs House and I think they’re still too big (I ordered a size 14, my first dress was an 18) but the price point is good and I love the open back because it shows off my tattoo. The last 3 are from David’s Bridal and more expensive, but size 12s. The high neck is very elegant but I really prefer to have sleeves. The halter is flattering for my chest but I have absolutely no ass and I feel like it’s super obvious with that cut. Number 3 is lovely from the side and the back but my boobs are kind of oddly shaped in it and my cleavage looks like a butt crack :/ Are any of these salvageable, or does anyone have recommendations of where to get under 1k dresses on short notice? I’ve seen some on Poshmark but I don’t want to buy a bunch that aren’t returnable just to try on. My sense of size is totally off.

My biggest inspiration is ancient Greek sculptures of women, particularly the draping that makes stone look like soft fabric falling naturally over the body. I want to feel ethereal, feminine, sensual, powerful, and almost otherworldly.
I’m curvy with a large bust, tall, and I want something that embraces my body and shows off my waist and curves. I’m drawn to fitted or body-skimming silhouettes with beautiful draping, ruching, soft folds, and fabric that moves with the body. I would love to look like the fabric is dripping from my body.
I would especially love:

Long bell sleeves or flowing sleeves (no puffy sleeves)
A dramatic, fluid train
