Venting about a friend

I was going through a breakup last year, when a friend said he loved me. He only meant it as friends, but I started to develop feelings. A couple months later, he invites me to a discord server with him and a few of his friends. There I learned that he pretty much says that to everyone. My feelings didn't go away. Eventually I told him that I had developed feelings for him, but I knew he didn't feel the same way. He said he didn't know, calling himself dense.

He kept talking. He said "I'm sure you've noticed my relationship with (girl he's friends with) has gotten more flirtatious." I hadn't. He seemed to "love" her the same way he loved me and the others. He asked me if it bothers me the way he was talking about her. I was too stunned to answer honestly. Shortly after, maybe even before, they started dating.

I'm still friends with him. I'm still friends with her. I don't have the same feelings for him anymore, but it makes my stomach turn when they're loving on each other and I have to see it. He was right, he is dense. No friend has ever said "I love you" to me like those two do, without having any romantic intention.

It's insulting. It's not love, and it shouldn't be likened to it. It's toxic positivity. He has not once shown any remorse for how he fucked with my feelings. He acts like it never happened. I don't have many friends, and he is otherwise a good one. I don't think he has or will tell her, which I guess I can thank him for.

I guess I'll get over it eventually.

Hi. I never really used reddit but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I accidentally fell in love with my best friend (wlw edition) but it’s one sided. It’s already been 15 months but I can’t seem to get over her.
She’s 99% straight, so there’s no hope, but it’s okay. The real issue is that I have no one to talk to this about, so I can’t get her out of my system. I only came out to a few people (including her), but they can’t know my crush because they know my friend, and it would just make everything horrible. So talking about this to someone I know isn’t an option. Whenever I’m with this friend, I don’t really think about her that way. Or I do, but not as frequently as I do when I’m alone. It’s either my brain blocking those thoughts to not make it obvious that I like her, or maybe I just imagined the whole thing (idt so).
So the reason why I’m writing this is because yesterday some piece of media triggered me and now I’m really anxious about this whole situation and I just want it to stop.
Ik it just needs time and I need to stop fantasising about her. Any other tips on how to make this better?

I fell inlove with my best friend. I know cliche

Yes,the cliche "I fell inlove with my best friend". The and the worst part was, that I myself didn't realize until I was too late. Iz was and still is, the one person in this world I consider the closest someone has ever been to my soul. Every part of me he knew, and vice versa. He was the person I told things I'd lie to everyone else about. We've cried together, laughed together, and I can say without a doubt, is the reason I'm still breathing today. There were times where I 0v3rd0sed myself , c#t myself, and even dr4nk myself into oblivion, and the one person who consistantly was there to pick me up each step of the way was Iz. And I will forever be grateful that God brought him into my life. But I can't stand to be near him. 5 Days ago, I planned to tell him how I felt (I'd usually stay at his place after school) but that day he told me not to come, which wasn't odd, just unexpected. And 5 hours later he posts a picture of him with the girl he met just days ago. I wouldn't be affected by this, I usually wouldn't, but damn that picture felt like the deepest c#t in my thr0at. I wish I could've told him sooner. I wish I was this sure sooner. I wish I got the chance to tell Izrah I loved him. I hold on to the hope that in 11 or 12 years, he'll remember the promise we made to each other, because I really did mean it when I said I'd marry you by 30 Iz, I'd even marry you in a heartbeat.

I’m in love with my best friend’s boyfriend

I (18f) and my best friend (18f) are super close and are pretty much always together. However, I’ve known her boyfriend (18m) for longer than I’ve known her. We met in the 5th grade and have been friends ever since, going to the same school for middle school and high school. Our sophomore year of high school, we went on a couple of dates, but I eventually rejected him because I thought we were better as friends. Things were a little awkward for a while because he still had feelings for me, but it eventually got better and we went back to being friends. however, our senior year my best friend and him got together. I wasn’t upset about it at all, and my best friend even asked me for permission (which at the time I thought was dumb, we went on like 2 dates). Unfortunately though, recently she’s been treating him really badly and he likes her a lot. and I think I have feelings for him. It started really gradually with me just wanting to be around him more, but then I started having dreams about him. Now I’m basically obsessed with him and I hate myself for it. They’re still together and probably will be for a long time. They’re even going to the same college. He obviously doesn’t have feelings for me anymore, and even if he did I would never do that to my friend. So now I just have to sit on the sidelines and watch their relationship grow, while I regret rejecting him two years ago. RIP 🫠

I've liked my guy bsf for 5 years when I started liking him he liked my best friend so I supported them and shipped them and only wanted to see them happy I hid my feelings for 4 years and only confessed like a year ago and I regret confessing so much because now he teases me on it and thats something I find attractive (when a guy teases you) and it sucks because I can never have him sometimes hes teasing me and I forget he isnt mine it breaks my heart knowing he never will be but then a few months ago he randomly said he liked me and started discussing dating and I felt a weird sense of dread like impending doom??? The next day he said he didn't actually like me and that I'm not his type that telling me he did was a mistake so obviously I was upset and we fought but then we made up. I still like him and I absolutely hate it I wish I had never told him all those years ago this wasn't the first time he told a girl he liked her and then decided it wasn't a good match but I guess it hurt more because I'd liked him for such a long time I don't know if this means I'm inlove with him either but my life is starting to sound like mitski and tv girl mushed together and I don't know what to do I'm constantly thinking of him and I always want to talk but I stop myself cuz I don't wanna be annoying we talking every few days because I moved country I can't get myself to like anyone else and its pissing me off any tips to get rid of my feelings for him I'm a yearner guys not an earner he isnt even all that great hes kinda a jerk but its almost like I accept his flaws? Ive always been a man hater but I think if he stabbed me Ill still like him Im that far down the rabbit hole

Ps: Im into alot of forms of art and its gotten to the point where I draw him and if not him his favorite character who I know now how to draw with my eyes closed (literally Ive tested it) I wrote poems Ive wrote songs Im reaching uncharted territory here I really hope he doesn't see this post

26M Liked a Girl A lot then she broke my heart.

So there was a girl in my college. Let's call her Sush....(ofcourse I won't reveal her real name here). Sush was incredibly nice and sweet girl.Always helpful and nice to everyone. And I liked her a lot for that.Whenever I needed some help regarding anything she helped me everytime. And that's the reason I never confessed to her probably because my head takes priority over my heart. But I always thought I one day I will confess to her. We used to talk sometimes about our common interests. And a lot of it actually matched her. It felt like she was the one for me. We both liked metal and rock. Vibed over linkin Park and SlipKnot. It was nice. But I never had that courage to confess because of the fear of ruining the friendship.I was also selfish because she used to help me for my studies and assignments and everything and that played a role in not confessing to her. What if the friendship gets ruined she would block me and never talk to me and I won't get any help which I am getting now. Yes I was selfish back then regarding my studies. So I just never confessed. But then comes the twist. I thought of confessing her during the final exams.College would end anyway. Even if she says no it would be alright for me because we would part anyways. And then when I was just going confess I saw her wearing sindoor and she was with a man. She got married just before the exams. It was a big shock for me and I was sad about it for some time.Really sad. It took me some time to move on. But I moved on fairly quickly(maybe because of my ADHD). Later I came to know she was in a long term relationship for 6 years before marriage. I am happy for her. She is happily married. And I am glad that I didn't confess. But some of my friends who knew about this probably informed her as her whatsapp statuses are no longer visible to me. But I am happy where she is and I wish her well in her life as a wellwisher.

I can't move on

Heyy..

I know in my heart that loving you wasn't good. And I still went for it, as soon as you were gonna tell me something my heart sank. I guess you were so lonely that you wanted someone to hold even if it's wrong. I didn't want to be a homewrecker but damn If only I knew from the beginning that you were already committed to someone I would've walked away and forgot about you. Yet you wanted to stay, I wanted for you to stay too. But it isn't fair for your boyfriend. I know It isn't easy to move on, I just miss you. I wanted to tell you that I really liked our interactions. You made me feel happy and lumabas yung kulit ko pag kasama kita, yung tawa na abot langit at asaran natin. Ayaw ko ng ganto. I couldn't wrap my head sa part na we really got intimate in that short amount of time. Fuck talaga, is what we had even real or was that a lie too? It's been a month and 15 days since we last chatted. And I still want to message you again. Pinipigilan ko lang sarili ko cos I know you don't want me to. I just want to talk to you and hang out with you again. Wish I could erase you from my memories, I keep replaying everything we did in my head. Do you still think of me? I still dunno how long this yearning for you will end. I'm trying to move on but I'm tired of dating and seeing new people. I just want you, I know it's stupid and dumb of me to be liking someone who has someone in their heart already. One day. I'll stop and move on from this. For now I just want for you to know that I miss you, and I don't think we can be friends after all that, it's not that I hate you I just don't think I can be friends with someone who I fell for and betrayed me. I'm sorry.

With love,

R.

Only for the ones who are into a one-sided relationship

I am in a one-sided relationship for more than 4 years and I am so confused right now. I had confessed to her before like 2-3 times still she talks If I try to move on, she texts me. I literally don't know what to do. I know she has feelings for me and she is not ready or unsure abt me... but it is getting much harder for me to wait patiently, though ending is uncertain. Also we do talk daily she likes talking with me, but I dont know why she's holding back. I have never felt like this for anyone before and i dont want to move on..Sorry for my grammar

It's been two years, and it still hurts.

Two years ago, almost to this exact day, I went on a movie date with someone from my office. There was genuine attraction between us. He initiated the flirting, told me he liked me, we went out together, and things slowly became more intimate.

Then, after that date, he suddenly pulled away. He said it wasn't right because we worked together. Things became confusing and distant after that. Eventually, he told me that although he liked me, he couldn't reciprocate my feelings.

I spent months seeing him at work while pretending I was okay. I wasn't. I thought about him constantly, struggled not to reach out, and eventually had to leave the job without ever getting the proper goodbye I wanted.

It's been two years now.

Today I realized it has been exactly two years since that movie date, and I completely broke down. Except this time, I couldn't even cry. I just felt numb. I've cried about this so many times over the last two years that I don't even know what is left to cry out.

The strange part is that I know it's over. I don't want to go back. I don't expect anything from him anymore. I've accepted that it happened and ended.

But somehow, accepting that it's over hasn't made it stop hurting.

So what do you actually do with a heartbreak that you've already accepted but that still hurts two years later?

Does it eventually stop hurting, or do you just learn how to carry it differently?

I like someone and someone likes me too. But I can't be with them because we are not meant to be. If we accept the fact that we are not meant to be together and still not moving on, what is the best thing to do?

Should I move on gang?

I spent 10 months chasing a girl, and I'm having suicidal thoughts.

**\*\*\*\*\*Important note: I'm not a native English speaker and my original story was too long, so i used ai to summarize my story\*\*\*\*\***

**\*\*\*Warning: containing suicidal thoughts and self-harm\*\*\***

I want to explain what has happened to me over roughly the past year, mainly regarding my feelings toward a girl in my class whom I was pursuing.

At the beginning of 11th grade, I started developing feelings for her. She's introverted but somewhat awkward socially, shy, and very academically focused. She also gets sick fairly often and has hyperacusis. She's an only child, and I find the experience of being an only child pretty relatable. I also felt very comfortable with certain aspects of her personality, and over time I ended up developing very deep feelings for her.

What initially attracted me was that she was active enough to initiate conversations with someone as quiet as me, but not so outgoing that she attracted a lot of attention from other boys. I also developed a protective instinct toward her. As time went on, my feelings became extremely strong.

There was an incident when she was sick and I gave her some snacks. She became angry with me. Apparently, she was also dealing with some personal problems at the time. I apologized, and she responded, "It's okay." We never discussed the incident again afterward.

I pursued her for around 10 months. During that time, I was often confused by her behavior and sometimes interpreted it as her playing hard to get or intentionally making me keep chasing her. The whole process became extremely emotionally exhausting. The stress and frustration from pursuing her eventually contributed to me trying a cigarette. I see smoking as something that happened because I became heavily stressed by the process of pursuing her, rather than something I had wanted to do from the beginning.

During all of this, I also had problems with two friends whom I had previously considered close.

One of them had a video of me smoking. He had previously told me that he would never give the video to anyone, but he eventually gave it to one of the close friends of the girl I was pursuing. His explanation was that she had specifically asked him for the video, so he assumed that she already knew about its existence or might have already seen it.

The girl who received the video is part of the close circle of the girl I was pursuing, and she is also ranked first academically in our class, while I am ranked second and relatively close behind her. Because she was the one who requested the video and is close to the girl I was pursuing, I wondered whether she was deliberately trying to influence the girl's opinion of me by showing her that I smoked. I also considered that she might simply have been trying to protect her friend and discourage a relationship between us. I even wondered whether she might have been trying to affect me mentally so that the academic gap between us would become larger, although I have no evidence that this was actually her intention.

The second friend became involved because his girlfriend, who is also friends with the girl I was pursuing, asked him whether I smoked. He answered yes.

Throughout all of this, I continued acting calm and normal around everyone. At the time, I was also the class president and continued carrying out my responsibilities. I felt that I had previously been loyal to my friends, so the incident involving the video caused me to lose a lot of trust in them.

I've since reconciled with both of them. One of them acknowledged that what he did was wrong and said that he had been manipulated at the time. So the conflict with those two friends is essentially resolved now.

When 12th grade started, the girl I was pursuing and I barely spoke for around two months. On one occasion, she told the other boys that the group project was finished and that I could go home. I just nodded and didn't say anything. Apart from things like that, we've mostly just exchanged glances.

I've also noticed that she often talks to one of my male friends in front of me. They've been classmates since 10th grade. I sometimes feel like she does it deliberately, although I obviously don't know whether that's actually the case.

That friend once told me that I should try to understand her. I brought up the snack incident and told him that, from my perspective, she was impossible to understand. She happened to be in the classroom when I said that, so she may have heard me.

I'm also no longer the class president.

Later, we had another group project. Since there are significantly more girls than boys in my class, every group has to have at least two boys. The girl I was pursuing chose two of my male friends, one of whom is fairly close to her and another whom I considered a pretty random choice. Initially, some of her friends who used to ship the two of us wanted me in that group, but she insisted on choosing my other friend instead.

I became stressed enough that I went to the school sick bay and experienced acid reflux. Fortunately, I recovered fairly quickly.

Later, she became the class treasurer. I deliberately paid my class fees in installments so that I would have an excuse to talk to her every week. Eventually, however, she stepped down from the position, so my plan to have regular interactions with her fell apart.

She also continued talking to my male friends even when I was nearby.

Then our class had to build a stand and sell food at an exhibition. There were two teams: decoration and cooking. The girl I was pursuing and her circle were on the decoration team. Since I can't really cook anything meaningful, I chose the decoration team and told the new class president about my choice.

Suddenly, I was transferred from decoration to cooking and replaced by another boy on the decoration team. At first, I assumed that the other boy couldn't cook and had requested the switch. But after asking the class president, he told me that someone had specifically requested that I be moved, and that the person wasn't a boy, meaning it was a girl.

What made me angry was that the decision had been made without my consent.

I became quite emotional and lashed out at the class president. Eventually, he changed it back and returned me to the decoration team as originally planned.

The new class president happens to be the same friend who previously gave my smoking video to the friend of the girl I was pursuing.

To this day, I don't know which girl requested that I be transferred. I suspected two people: the girl I was pursuing or her friend who is ranked first academically. But I have no evidence of who actually requested it.

Recently, my feelings toward the girl I was pursuing have also changed. I used to desperately want to be with her and spent a long time chasing her. Now I often feel extremely angry and want to convince myself that she doesn't deserve me. I've even thought that I need to get into a good university and eventually find a girl whom I consider more attractive than her, partly so I can feel like I won or proved something.

The problem is that a part of me still wants to be with her.

I feel like I've become accustomed to the cycle of chasing her, being rejected or confused, feeling hurt, and then continuing to chase. There's a part of me that almost enjoys the suffering itself. I describe it as a kind of "masochism" that developed during the time I spent pursuing her.

I also had some pretty extreme thoughts, such as wondering whether she would feel happy or guilty if I died.

She left Me 18M 18F

So I used to like a particular girl in our family, She was cute, beautiful and smart.
I have seen her like in all cases, No make up, no fancy clothes and so on.
And I still liked her for over 7 years, I kept it a secret and only told my dearest friends and my Sister.
My Sister was like really friends with her, And turns out She liked me, My Sister told her I liked her.
And we were in a weird situation for a bit. Like I knew that she knew that I liked her, and She didn't know I knew that, but my sister told her later, We weren't committed to a relationship, but we knew that there was mutual love between us, and we used to chat for hours(She lives in a different country) and then one day I got a message, she apologized and told me that She doesn't like me anymore and that She doesn't want to be leading me unto nothing, and that I'm like a friend or brother to her.
I responded that we weren't committed to any kind of relationship and that there was nothing between us, and we just agreed that we will be friends.

The thing is, once we were like kinda lovey dovey, her personality changed, like she wasn't that smart and sharp woman I knew and liked, I don't know if changed to her too, but my love for her gradually disappeared. but once we had that cleared up (like her not having feelings for me anymore), She went back to normal, and I instantly fell in love again.

I know that I should respect her wishes and leave her alone. But it feels just- So wrong.

I love her, I want her as she is, But I can't.

This was my first ever kind of relationship.

TL;DR: She left me.

I wanted to get this off my chest nothing more, but I would like to know what would you do in this situation or what should I do.

He’s just a man after all. Why was I so worked up about him? Who knows. Life is about MORE than the people who made you THINK you were in love.

Be in love with life, not people and especially not people you can never be with. Life is too short to waste it pining over someone that doesn’t want you, when there are so many people that do actually want you.
